Title: Introduction and Question
Post by: Keyser on July 08, 2014, 03:06:43 pm
Hi All,

I am Keyser from the bitcointalk forum.  I am interested in diversifying my crypto holdings by investing in AngelShares.  I have read some of the FAQs and blogs, but want to be sure I understand this process correctly before I send BTC to the AGS address.

I have a multibit wallet and want to invest directly in Bitshares/AngelShares using Bitcoin.  Is it as simple as just sending BTC to the AGS wallet, 1ANGELwQwWxMmbdaSWhWLqBEtPTkWb8uDc ?  Then at a later launch date, I verify my transaction to receive my shares?  Is there a way to verify my participation before launch?

Thanks to anyone that can provide clarification or advice for me to complete this process without issue.

Sorry can't explain all the way thru it right now, but make sure you speak to someone about how to obtain BitShares X - shares in the decentralized autonomous bank and exchange

Welcome aboard! Yes, that should work fine. I have used Multibit for some AGS donations myself. Over the next few days, the opportunity to participate in the upcoming DACs through AGS is ending, so your timing could not be better.

Welcome. Just to clarify..donating to ags will not grant you any bitshares x (decentralized bank exchange as the snapshot was taken on the 28th feb) but will give you at LEAST 10% on future Dacs launched by i3 (bitshares music, me,lotto, insurance and many many other in the future).

If you are interested in bitshares x you can buy on exchange upon release or maybe also from bter and btc38 at the moment..

It is probably a good idea to donate to ags if you want a diversification in many sectors..it is also probably a good idea to buy some bts x from an exchange while they are still undervalued but don't take my opinion as investment advice

I3 always said that donating to AGS doens't imply any legal obligations. In the end it is based on the desire of the developer that releases the DAC to gain support from the AGS investors....

That is true! There is indeed no legal obligation what so ever from i3 and this has been communicated many times.

Here are the first parts of a planned series of blog articles that will appear on the bitshares.org website as soon as I am sufficiently pleased with them.  This series is intended to be a resource for newbies and a summary of all that has been accomplished in the past year.  Think of this as the Official Year One Newsletter.

Unfortunately I have not had as much time as I would have liked to research more, but I have read some blogs and forums threads.  I have decided to just send a donation to AGS using btc.

Edit: I found the explorer link.

Thanks for all the responses and help everyone!

No, I use the moniker "Keyser" when it is available as a nod to one of my favorite movie characters, Keyser Soze.

Hi all,

I am back to check in after having a very busy month of work.  My apologies for not being able to keep up with the updates.

So, I was able to make contributions to the AngelShares fund before the deadline using BTC.  Is there a link for a wallet now?

I have to be honest, I am still a bit confused how my donation to AGS fits in with the whole picture of AngelShares, Protoshares, and Bitshares X.

I have been able to download a bitshares X wallet and register an account name.

However, after doing some reading, it seems I don't have any bitshares anyway since I only made btc donations to the AGS fund on July 17.  Apparently this only entitles me to shares of upcoming DACs.

In that case, is there any reason for my to import my donation wallet file?

Your PTS will still be valuable, but not as BTSX. I'd suggest buying some BTSX as soon as you can on one of the exchanges.
