General Discussion / Re: ripple rally
« on: December 17, 2014, 08:35:25 pm »
@alexkravets

Appreciate you stopping here and giving us your time.

Tell us-- we're curious about what has attracted you to ripple?  And where do you see Ripple in one year from now?  5 years from now?

Just to color it with similar marketed products.  What do you think of Bitshares and Bitcoin --- and what do you see coming from them in the future?  We're very much open to hearing your honest views-- the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I'm stuck on block 1253613.  User that upgraded from .04.24

Anyone have any thoughts of how to fix this from the GUI?  I've rescanned many times and have 1 or 2 connections, but it still saying catch-up.

Deleted the chain and peer db files and its now synced.

the good news is that from the latest client release, price feeds will count from stand-by  delegates also!!!

Sent from my ALCATEL ONE TOUCH 997D

What since when?  All Standby delegates can publish feeds?  How is manipulation prevented?  Can you show me the reference to this?

General Discussion / Re: User Issued Assets: Legal Questions
« on: December 07, 2014, 08:58:01 pm »
This post is to crowd-source a list of pertinent questions requiring answers with respect to the legalities of user-issued assets.

I am currently based in the USA and have some connections who might be able to answer some of these questions.  Please feel free to ask anything and everything here and I will do my best to see they are answered.  If this becomes a thread that provides great value to the community, I suggest we offer a delegate spot to this team so we can receive free guidance.

I am located in the USA, so all advice would be directed more toward this jurisdiction and those closely tied to it.

Here's a good question that plays into the marketing plans of the community.  What is the legality surrounding paper tokens for use in transactions and for sales?  (eg. Bitusd's version of Casascius coins)

Bitstash will launch summer next year ... so guess there is no software to review out until then ...

But the Trezor guys are really well-known in the crypto space ... i'll contact Alena and Slush next days (*Trezor) ...

Any luck on the Trezor call?

This developer is considering dpos and pow.  This is really cool.  Sounds like a long ways from a usable version.  Appears like an opportunity for the community to highlight the benefits of dpos to the developer and the shortcomings of pow.

Hi Sparkles,

Can Sha 512 be merged mined with Bitcoin?  Have you put much thought into preventing a 51% attack early on in the experiment?

I still don't understand why wallet_check_sharedrop shows the BTS I'm due but it doesn't show in my account.  How do we claim these amounts?

We have to wait until Bytemaster unfreezes the claims in one of the next releases.  I know, not much communication  all when bitshares x is rebranded to bitshares and coinmarketcap shows a 2.5 B Supply of BTS, both of which has been somewhat premature/misdirecting.

Can someone confirm that importing the new BTS allocations is not yet possible through the GUI?

The plan now (as it's in MAJOR transition) is to complete the rebranding and simplification of BitShares as outlined by bytemaster in his post "Proposal to Resolve a Million Issues at Once," along with the GUI redesign, and marketing campaign - all at the same time.   So the dev, marketing, and GUI/web development teams are planning to complete these projects on the same timeframe, all by the end of the year.  B

Brian,

Has the recent developments by FINCEN in classifying payment exchanges (.eg Coinbase & Bitpay) as Money transmitters affected any forthcoming relationships with your "onramps and offramps"?

This is essentially what ETF's called Tracking Error.  You could just adopt this measure.

GoCoin processes Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin and GoCoin is part of PayPal announcement.
So PayPal announcement is good for Dogecoin was my understanding

I have similar thoughts:
Doge merged mine with litecoin a few weeks back which gave it a renewed life to a ailing network.

Its appears to be rising now from the Paypal deal with Gocoin which supports acceptance for Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin.  Its possible, the price impact has been greater on dogecoin because it has uplifted the coin as a more "serious" form of payment, whereas Bitcoin and Litecoin always had that front face.
