Technical Support / Re: To all newbies: What brought you here?
« on: May 23, 2015, 12:49:33 pm »
I've been a cryptocoin enthusiast for a few yrs now; mining, trading and so on.

Was researching some mining stuff, got interested in x11, found minebitshares pool while reading some threads and that pointed me to bitshares in general.

And I liked the idea  :)

Welcome! Hope to see you posting here for a long time to come :)

Cool ken, well done:)

they will issue NanoCard.eu with bitcoin support later this year I guess, and are openly asking cryptocommunites for their input. if you can, answer their question in above mentioned tweet!
nanocard @ ccedk can already be ordered .. and devs have been made aware of that opportunity elsewhere already ..

But i totally agree ... bitUSD via Mastercard would be .. mindblowing!

It would...and you know what would go really well with it?

Built-in direct debit in the bitshares protocol, such that the provider of the card can instruct their systems to debit your account (built-in daily withdrawals limit and max amount per transaction included!), pending approval by the user.

That way, no more need to send crypto to the cryptocard company to fund the card..

Maybe it's just me, but... 8)

EDIT: Also good for other kind of services, like monthly recurring bills and what not.. but yeah, I originally thought about this in a card context.
I'd probably never use a normal bank card again.. imagine having debitcard.$yourname and the direct debit order there, where you can specify a) the source account that can issue a debit b) total max daily value and c) max value per transaction.

The funds would be safe in YOUR account, instead of the company. For maximum security it should also be possible to SUSPEND the authorization, such that you would only enable it when you know you'll be using the card .. ;)

I just don't know why all the charts are green, every crypto in the top 10 is growing

^^ I'd venture guessing the whales are playing to that tune exactly. Set the stage of rising prices well before the news, meanwhile the news come out, more people come in .. bigger profits.

Who knows?

876
Yeah. It's not that BitShares should not be worth what it is now (heck, it should be worth MUCH more imo) ..

It's the +113% gain in 4 days .. there's no justification. Just speculation. It'll come back down again when the bulls are satiated.

General Discussion / Re: What will happen if nobody shorts ?

Is that still around?

878
Indeed. I say pump and dump, and will forever regret if it's not :D

Also placed a buy order for bitUSD at ~162. Call price is ~161 now.

@ inirizushi... I feel you bro...Every time I buy the price goes down, everytime I sell the price goes up..::) ::)

@Ander, any idea why today this big CNY volume especially within BTS exchange? We beat BTC38 in volume..And why the bitusd doesn't follow?

Would really like to buy some bitUSD, but call price is ~160 and lowest sell 180.

881
:)

Wonder what's up with all the greed.. lowest sell is 46000 while call price is 38910.

I'm looking to buy 4 bitBTC (0.5, 0.5, 2, 1). Placed the orders close to the call price.

If you're in for a fair trade, press that button:)

General Discussion / Re: POLONIEX now KYC compliant
« on: May 22, 2015, 05:25:24 pm »
One of the guys confirmed with the email provider - poloniex never sent the outbound email to confirm disabling email verification when 2fa is active.

That confirms it, though it was already obvious that "smtp problems on the receivers end" was bs, since the registration confirmation email came fine, just some hours before.

Either they are deliberately withholding sending these emails (possibly to free email accounts only), or there is some sort of manual verification going on.
Whatever it is, it's not "smtp issues".

I think people too often forget that TLS through cloudflare is essentially a MITM attack by a US company .. suuuuuure, your data will be safe then. Snowden be damned!

884
This is already with JS on - bitsharesblocks won't work without, and at any rate, cloudflares' captchas are horrendous without javascript.. there are no words for how much tor users hate cloudflare :) "Attention Required!" on 80% of new tabs these days.. I digress.

Technical Support / Re: DDoSing the BitShares network

Cool. Then with proper care it seems possible to insulate delegates from becoming bullseyes.

That's what I wanted to know. I have voted for the digitalgaia delegate now, ime this is essential to preserve the integrity of the network longterm.
