Yes.  Edited for clarity.

Ah ok... I am wondering then when we will hear from that other person mentioned weeks ago when the whole PR shift took place.. or is that person involved in the nullstreet release and is only using that as their outlet?

Sweat not.  We have resolved the public relations issues.

There's a newsletter about to be released.

Most of the worries in this thread will disappear, the clouds will dissolve, and the sky will turn blue.

With apologies to Winston Churchill:

“Why, you may take the most steely-eyed geek, the most crafty investor or the most audacious marketeer, put them on a forum together - what do you get? The sum of their fears”

 :)

Looking forward to it! Guess when it rains it pours cause Nullstreet will be released soon about the same time.

I've seen multiple updates from the core developers in different threads since the last week .
Need I dig that up ?

appears to be not communication and updates
yep..... appears to be is the right word , because there are updates and actual progress on coding instead of mentioning the same progress over and over again with different people .

Then again , don't base your investment on the progress of development . The price would still be the same even if 1.0 version comes out tomorrow , or 1.0 comes 6 months later . If it's a bad time to buy economically , don't buy it even the development progress is good . If you have a feeling that the price is good , just buy it even you think the wallet is buggy . It didn't really matter , the price is not supported by the wallet itself .

Dang btswildpig..  +5% for such an awesome detailed response. Be great if some of the folks following it actually read it.. OP did though... you are a great ambassador for BitShares and moments like this really show it.

i hold a couple of small other coins on BTER and they are also since days in "processing" so, maybe many different blockchains got in the same time the same unstable wallets. It is really unfortunate (ironic mode off)

Hahaha  +5%

ITS A WORLD WIDE CRYPTO WALLET FAILURE! :P

I don't think bter has contacted any devs about unstable wallet. IIRC nothing has changed since before the hack.
this seems like a major red flag.  :o

Naw.. just means getting caught trying to pass the buck to buy time. For what exactly remains to be seen.

Xeldal has agreed to fund the purchase of our much needed film gear through BitsharesBreakout.

So if you are inspired by what we are doing and want to contribute, please
do so through  bts ID: ‘bitsharesbreakout’ with the memo ‘filmgear’.

And if you haven’t already done so, please VOTE for fund.bitsharesbreakout

Got my vote.. and congrats!

They would be very efficient for that, but watch the legal issues, depending on where you are.

I'd definitely take the legal issues into account. I haven't really been paying much attention in the last several weeks but do you know if anyone has done anything interesting with user generated assets yet?

Well look at my signature :)

me too yesterday withdrawall 100 bts to try it but nothing happen

can some DEV say something?? we are working.,. we are talking to bter ... or something to comunity health

There is probably nothing they can say on the matter one way or another.

They have operated for nearly a year without any major issues with BTS wallet.. suddenly after their BTC gets hacked they can't get their BTS wallet working? My car broke down, and because of it my computer isn't working  ::)

I have been working for a while on a campaign that does this.

Not exactly a startup.. but I think what I have put together is going to provide a lot of information how to use UIAs to raise capital.

Watch for it very very soon. (coming week)

Why the fuck the release data changed again and again?
This is a very  slow progress.
Thats why the price was acting like a shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You have a terrible attitude and nobody owes you anything.

What are you doing to make bitshares better besides bitching?
terrible attitude?thats the fucking reality.
Don‘t acting you do a lot to bitshares, bitch.
I have tons of shares to vote  for 100% delegate,I bought and mined PTS since day 1,you dare say i do nothing to bitshares?
你们这些老外一个个就是装逼犯,一天不装逼就不舒服

I understand the frustration with the delayed release, but as toast posted a while ago, 1.0 is over hyped and shouldn't be a huge catalyst or mystery potion for the price.

Still, throwing temper tantrums and spewing insults isn't going to get more people to buy bitshares or get the devs to even consider your opinion.  Why not focus all this energy on something productive for bitshares? Unless of course you want to see it fail...

I agree that is overrated and that it shouldn't bring nothing new to the price because it is essential to have a working wallet.

Let me give you my example:

Until November I managed to have a BTSX wallet on my computer. Then things started glitching. Every new update was slower and crashing more and more. Numerous crash reports etc.. I lost my mind with it and transferred all of my BTS to btc38. I couldn't anymore wait for the wallet to re-synchronize and re-index. My BTS were still on the exchange when bter hack happened. Yesterday I decided not to play with the faith if btc38 gets hacked as bter did. I downloaded a wallet thinking how more than 3 months have passed and how something had to change. Nothing!! I sent over 10 crash reports etc.. I cannot even import the wallet from my json file anymore. I lost it completely and sold all of my BTS this morning at the loss. I just don't have nowhere to hold them. Wallet doesn't work, web wallet is not secure, exchange - there is no way I am holding my money over there anymore. I will rather miss on some of the BTS growth if it happens than to lose all of my money how it could have happened with bter.

Now I am very tech savy. I've been in BTC for over 2 years, NXT since the beginnings and BTS as well. If I have lost my mind, what do you think will happen to a complete noob??

From my perspective the new wallet is not overrated, it is completely essential!!!

P.S. I am reading today that people can't even withdraw their BTS from bter since the faulty wallet. Completely understandable.

I read stuff like this and for a long time Dan has talked about the wallet being stable and I am not sure what to think.

I use the wallet EVERY SINGLE DAY.. have been for months now all without any issue. I am trading every single day with it.. a little slow yeah.. do I get the occasional crash.. yes.. usually when I am rushing to click on something before all the data loads it will cause a crash.. I just learned not to do that. Nonetheless.. I don't think you should consider your experience as what everyone else is experiencing.. nor am I considering mine to be the norm.. btw.. I am just using the windows wallet.. what version you were using is unclear.

I guess the point is moot now though since you sold out... ironicly I am buying everyday.

I Sent this to the Bter support:

"Mar 13, 17:29

When am I going to be able to withdraw my BitShares? I'm already waiting since weeks.
Yesterday BTS withdrawals were enabled and I submitted it but now today I see its disabled again and the funds remain in my Bter account.
When do you expect to have BTS withdrawals working 100%?"

They Replied:

"Mar 13, 17:46

Dear Sir,
BTS withdrawal is suspended . The new BTS wallet is not stable and we have contacted the BTS dev team .

We will process the bts withdrawal later when the wallet is proven to be stable enough.

Best Regards
Bter.com"

What is the issue with the BitShares wallet on Bter? Can someone from BitShares have a look at this?

I have my coins stuck there since weeks, please help.
+5%

Given everything we have seen of BTER of late.. 1000 BTS says they are running something like v0.5 wallet.

Hey Robrigo... since when does bitching help make bitshares better?  :)

Lets nuke the complainers. <play on lzr1900s avatar> All believers may take refuge in the bunker.. humm.. bet this post is going to show up in an NSA keyword scan now that I read what I wrote. :D Whupsy.

If there was anything driving down the price just from reading all the messages posted daily its this kind of thing that is doing it. Announcements are being made almost every other day about some new development carrying BitShares forward... anyways...

This is great, but can you defend the "zero counterparty risk" claim?  My understanding is that counterparty risk using metaexchange would be dramatically lower than other exchanges, but not zero.

The risk is non-zero for the short time it takes for 1 BTC confirmation, i.e. 10 minutes. After that you are in control of your funds again.

I think if you considered the odds of that happening at the exact same time as your transaction.. it would probably work out to something like 0.05% risk.. which if you eliminate the decimal points actually is zero. I haven't done the math.. maybe someone could.. but I think that does deserve the claim. There is nothing on the internet and I mean NOTHING that can claim absolute zero.

I think this is correct.  So the profit potential for MetaExchange (or a liquidity provider) betraying the customers is their average volume multiplied by the time it would take people to hear they were unreliable and cease deposits.  In normal operation this profit potential should be very low compared to the potential profit of operating honestly, so risk should be very low.  However, the greater the number of separate liquidity providers involved sharing the same reputation, the more this could break down, because smaller liquidity providers have less stake in preserving MetaExchanges reputation.  When you use MetaExchange, is there a way to know which liquidity provider you're trusting, or are you just trusting MetaExchange as a whole?  Are liquidity provider operations monitored by the main site so they'll stop having business referred if they stop payouts?

I think this announcement answers some of your question.. they are openly telling you who the liquidity provider is.. in other assets they have done similar where they have announced who is providing the liquidity to what asset. So I think the model is to be transparent in that. It's too early for multiple liquidity providers I think.. at a later stage that could be addressed and I think after some time of operations any issues will make themselves known to help determine the best coarse on handling that... let them learn to walk before they run basically.
