Title: [Proposal] Invoices in 2.0?
Post by: jakub on June 20, 2015, 09:11:24 pm
What if we introduced the concept of invoice in BTS 2.0?
In other words, if I owe you some money you send me an invoice via the BTS network specifying the amount you'd like to be payed and if I agree with it I can (voluntarily) send you a payment in return.
I just click on the invoice to accept it and the rest is done automatically.

This would be especially useful to keep track of small debts between friends and/or to officially request payments for services delivered.

I remember a similar feature introduced in Open Transactions (http://opentransactions.org) and found it very useful.
(but sadly OT never managed to release a working UI)

I've been inspired by the concept of proposed transaction in Dynamic Account Permissions (https://bitshares.org/technology/dynamic-account-permissions/).
If we are going to need some kind of inbox for proposed multisig transactions in the new GUI, why not add invoices into the same inbox?

I've seen this in the payment app Venmo.  It's great between friends, and perhaps businesses would use it if they could, however, Venmo is strictly for personal use between banking consumers, and transactions cannot be international, etc.

it is like "recuring" payments, something in the same direction. Nice idea!

@sittingduck, could you point me to 2.0 documentation which proves that?

Thanks, xeroc.

Withdrawal permissions are designed to be a convenience for merchants and users, as they do not represent a commitment to pay. It is up to each merchant to initiate each withdrawal. The BitShares platform does not automatically authorize the transfer of funds unless sufficient signing authority has been reached.
If this feature can act as an invoice - I'll be happy to use it.

It is a little different as the one sending the invoice has to first ask the permission (offchain) and once the permission to withdraw x amount from your account once(or regularily) .. then you are allowed to withdraw! ..
but imho a better way then regular credit card companies do it where anyone can withdraw from your account and YOU have to get it back ..
