Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Delegate Proposal: elmato
« on: December 30, 2014, 06:39:03 pm »
Is this how we support people?

El mato showed up here with a working mobile wallet and a plan to develop it. He has sadly only received .061% approval. Instead of working on catchy slogans and marketing gimmicks about how the block chain is hiring perhaps we should actually hire him?

Or should we just save him some time and trouble and provide this link to him http://nxt.org/developers/

This could be good, if he would come on and explain his business model and what he plans to do with the funds.

Would he happen to be in the mining business not bitcoin but gold, silver, diamond kind?

General Discussion / Re: Why not pay every active merchants bitUSD?
« on: December 30, 2014, 04:12:49 pm »
No merchant is going to hold bitUSD for some time.

Look at the cycle of bitcoin. Right now, after years merchants accept bitcoin only to exchange it for fiat. I believe the next phase will be that some of these companies will start to hold parts of bitcoin.

Put simply all we need now is a stable wallet and a big ass buy wall for "input your market pegged asset here".  A buy wall for bitUSD at say .95 would allow merchants to start accepting bitUSD without needing to understand the technology. It would promote and expand merchants market to bitUSD users. After some time merchants if they have had a positive experience will naturally want to hold at least some bitUSD, so that they can keep the full value.

General Discussion / Re: How to lure top devs into being hired by BitShares
« on: December 29, 2014, 09:34:11 pm »

Where do low cost, high talent programmers like to hang out?

In their parent's basement.

Seeing Dan and Stan relation their may be some truth to this :o but I am going to give Dan some credit and suggest he hangs out in his own basement now.

El mato and his mobile wallet are great to showcase.

He showed up out of the mist it seemed with just a faint glow from his mobile wallet that was working but early alpha. We practically jumped the guy like some kind of rabid pack of crypto enthusiasts and demanded that he run a delegate @100% pay rate.

Their are alot of reasons for not doing certain things until 1.0 of the client is released but trying to hire talent is not one of them.

Bitcoin talk may not be the ideal place to try to push Bitshares but a signature campaign along of the lines of "Bitshares: The blockchain is hiring" might be effective. After all we aren't trying to convert them per say just looking for talent. The only cost would be sig space and a banner and that should be minimal.

So arhag what it will take for you to be a 100% paid delegate ?

I have no such plans for the foreseeable future.

Why?

You obviously care a great deal. You have the ability to code and Bitshares has the need.

I am sure you have RL obligations but a I would argue that a arhag working at even quarter impulse is better then sitting at the dock.

So by not useing IOU's the risk falls on the gateway operator and not the customer?

Are you sure this is wise? A gateway operator will surely have a greater sum of money at stake then a single customer. Also this will require a greater amount of start up capital for a gateway operator because they have to keep some of everything on the shelf.

General Discussion / three-factor biometric authentication.....for 20 bucks

How secure and cool is this. It uses a phone, password and bio-metric scanner. Doesn't store any info and each scan generate's a unique key. No yubikey,2fa,password manager needed.

Progress indeed! Exchanges digesting "the benefits of becoming a gateway" could usher in an era of bitUSD instead of goxUSD.

For now we already have (bitCNY)

Chinese off ramp: www.tradebts.com
Chinese on ramp: www.btc38.com

And now also (bitUSD)

On Ramp: https://www.ccedk.com/
Off Ramp: http://fastbts.com/

I am not sure about this fastbts site. I have checked on it the last few days and if you click on sell bts it just says temporarily unavailable.

Might want to test this one a bit before we start sending people here.

General Discussion / Re: Full Pay Delegates for Gateways
« on: December 29, 2014, 12:34:00 pm »
Just a quick thought but I am not seeing the angle here?

A exchange votes it's own delegate into power via our coins that it is holding. They then get to keep said funds free and clear.

How can we stop them from doing this or get them to use the funds for something other then a bigger profit margin?

lol the soy sauce thing is gold :)

General Discussion / Re: BTS long term support
« on: December 29, 2014, 01:26:47 am »
In the short term we will most likely follow the direction on btc, which is starting to look up.
I am pushing for a nice high of .112-.120cny dump and back down to the .090s rinse and repeat until 1.0 is launched.

Or straight to the moon, either would be fine by me.
