And I just heard that even Darkcoin has released a new wallet version and BitID can be tradeable.

feel so dissapointed~

I feel depressed about the development progress right now and sorry for that i have to say something which is really unpleasant to the ear.

Please, work and all focus on bitshares XT. Stop discussing the other things or just let Stan to be responsible for the discussion part. All programmers just work onthe codes.

I think we are too slow. Orignially I thought it was because we wanted something perfect. But now, I think it is because 3I have too many thoughts but lack of execution ability. A brilliant idea is worth nothing, only the team could make it can earn billions of dollars.

See NXT, they work so fast with only 21 BTC. I think that's because they are more concentrated. 3I have so many BTCs and PTSs. However, until now, nothing,  even a wallet without any real market funtion seems to be so far away from being released.

I think, first, stop thinking so many ideas. It is useless.
Second, please do not waste too much time on the forum and see everybody's opinion. It is also useless.
Only one thing matters, that is trying to make some real product.

Focus, execution ability are the only two things which are imporant for 3I teams.

Please, make some products. Before that, stop saying anything. It is useless.

If you guys go to the forum and say something that should be, when you could release the products. Can anyone answer this? If no, please just work on XT with full concentration and stop thinking the other things too much.

General Discussion / Re: Number of Bitshares X at launch

in my opinion. we should not  open so many chains. it would lead to dilution of the money.

what we shoud do is two things

first. we should now focus on the development of the first chain--- BTS XT

and then, after the first chain is successfully released.  All the PTS\AGS holders should vote for which plan should be used.
instead of using many chains and let the market decide, we should only lauch one chain.

I am a little confused.

Here are my understanding as follows:

In BTS X (including XT or XV version), PTS\AGS holders will have 50%\50%

While in future DACs like music, lotto, ME etc., PTS\AGS holders will have 10%\10%, and use the allocation plan BM just mentioned yesterday.

Am I right?

It is the responsibility of every DAC developer/operator to make those decisions
in competition with others who will try to make better decisions.

To get our support (and presumably your support) they must honor the 10% minimums.

To get our recommendation, a DAC must be most competitive and of greatest benefit to PTS/AGS holders (like ourselves) in the long run.

But the market will decide.

Stan, I am still confused.

Did you mean that AGS\PTS holders could only get 10%\10% when BTS XV or XC are released?

You will undoubtedly wind up owning several variants as several operators offer their own optimized clones.  Whether the first full-featured 50/50 PTS/AGS chain beats some other competitor that allocates 10/10 and makes smarter use of the remaining 80% remains to be seen.

You will own shares in all of them so presumably the one the market likes best will make you the most money, regardless of the initial percentages.  Keep them all or sell the ones you don't think will succeed.

Never before have investors had the chance to own ALL the competing options for the price of one.  How's that for hedging your bets?

 :)

So there will be two chains?  BTS1   AGS holders 50%   PTS holders 50%
another one BTS2   AGS holders 10%  PTS holders 10%    delegate 80%

or maybe more? BTS 3\4\5\6………………………………

I feel quite doubtful about the whole thing, and I cannot see any promising future about the whole thing

First of all, with so many chains, if there is someone who wants to buy BTS, which one should he buy? he will be confused and he will be not sure which one to buy and will not want to buy because he will be not sure which one will be the final version.

second, before, all the people thought AGS\PTS would get 50%\50%, so they made the investment, but now they were told they might only get 10% or 10%?  plus, if you said you would let the market decide, the fact woule be that, if PTS AGS holders only get 10% instead of 50%,  the other people could get the rest 80%, of course people would like this plan. it is just like if the people who originally have a lot of money now have to spare their money to the poor people. of course this plan would be more welcome by the people, because poor people are much more.

sorry for my words, i am just very very XX right now.

I saw a photo of 3I teams on the forum several days ago and i saw someone wearing a nice black T-shirt with bitshare logo printed on it.

I love the T-shirt, and i wanna know there is any way for us to get some of this kind of T-shirt?

by the way, i am from China, and i think the proportion of chinese fans for bitshares might be the highest in all countries, even higher than in the US, so maybe many other people have the same question as me.

Thanks a lot~

General Discussion / Re: Windows GUI yet?
« on: June 18, 2014, 02:22:56 am »
We'll have a windows GUI with the next wallet iteration.

The wallet you are working with is horribly outdated anyway - things move fast around here

Can windows users join dry run 3?  I mean does everybody like me who does not understand anything about programming can join this test---dry run 3?

We are pleased with progress and release is imminent - as soon as all test results are acceptable.

good jobs for all! I think the team is really efficient and effective in this month.
it seems that the first version of BTSX could be released before August, though there are still a lot of important functions unrealized in this version.

And may I ask that before the end of this summer, will there be any other snapshots?

i think BM and his men have been fully focused on the development of BTS X.

And i just think the first priority for the other staff (who cannot programme ) should be concentrated on finding many IT talents to join 3I.
i think at first, we do not lack of moeny right now (due to AGS), second, we have so many projects to be finished, music lotto, keyhotee etc.

I think we do not have enough people for programming right now, and i think 3I does not put their biggest effort into this issue. ( you might do something on this issue but not enough )

i don't know if i am right, this is just my opinon and advice based on my experience: i am once in charge of a team of nearly 100 people.

at last, best wishes to you all.

Thanks for your response and I speak on behalf of the whole Bitshares software development team when I say we appreciate your advice. I and many of the BitShares team members are managing the growth of this software development team closely. We can't grow too large, too quickly, and we could not produce the software we aim to release this summer without the team we have now.

Every software developer/engineer we have is very talented and well trained. Some have 15 or 20+ years experience, advanced degrees, some have turned down Google to be here in Blacksburg with us, and have degrees from the best computer science schools in the world. Later today we have Vikram joining us who recently received his masters in computer science from the US 2014 ranked-No. 1 computer science graduate school in the nation, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), where he decided against pursuing a PhD to instead become a practitioner outside academia and hit the ground running with Bitshares. Vikram has already contributed much to our BitShares Toolkit in Github and is very happy with the work he's already volunteered. I couldn't be more pleased with his voluntary contributions and his motivation to date. Since Vikram emailed me months ago inquiring if we were hiring, he took it upon himself to find Nikolai at CMU where they both resided at the time, and began coding with Nikolai and getting involved before I could even respond. This initiative gets you noticed.

My ideal candidate for hire for the Bitshares software development team is someone who has followed our work for sometime and knows the domain/what we are doing, has forked our code from Github, and made positive contributions to our codebase. Maybe he or she has posted in the forums (reddit, bitsharestalk.org, bitcointalk.org, etc) and done a good job of promoting Bitshares to others who don't understand it yet. Hey, blockchains are hard to program! If it were easy it would done cheaper and lot quicker.

It makes it a very easy decision for me and the Bitshares core leadership to pull the trigger on a hiring decision when we have someone like Nikolai (toast), Nathan, and Vikram practically knocking on Bytemaster's door in Virginia to get involved in the action. We actively look for people like this and when I start noticing them I start talking with Daniel Larimer almost immediately. My radar is always up for talent and passion applied by developers.

Considering swings in price of all crypto, we must be vigilant in making wise hiring decisions. I assure you we will seek to acquire new talent and retain the developers who've already joined us full time or part time. What we don't want is to hire too many developers and dilute the efforts of the team we have now, by bogging them down with too many hours training/assisting new devs. The Summer of Code has officially begun and  we will manage the software development funds to empower a lean, potent software development team and run a successful company beyond this summer into next year. Thank you again for your feedback.

Thanks

before, i got the wrong information from others and thought there was only six people working on the whole thing, now i have known that from BM's post that there has been a very strong team of about over 10 people working hard for BTS-X. i think this scale for the team is perfect. the situation of the whole thing has been greatly improved than a few months ago.

I do not know anything about programming, so sometimes i am a little restless because i think i cannot do something for help.

anyway, thanks a lot, thanks for all of your hard work.

i know it will be tough in the following days or months, but hope everything will be fine and you can make some miracles.

BM responded in other thread:

Quote
Our team of developers:

Eric Frias - responsible for most of the P2P network code, RPC code gen, and other items.
Toast  - helping everywhere , currently web wallet / C++ integration
Nikita - helping with web wallet
HackFisher - helping everywhere, currently web wallet  (Just in from China last week)
Dan N - working toward robust test suites
Nathan - Starting Monday (C++)
Vikram - Starting Monday (C++ / everywhere)
Myself  - everywhere
Valentine -  C++ / Web  (part time, hopefully full time)
3 polish devs -  Keyhotee / BitShares integration / Nightly Support
1 Indian - tester
James - part time (currently busy, but will return in 2 weeks) JS support for signing transactions

Most of this team only started working effectively this month.. so I think we have enough people to do the job now.

Thank BM, STAN, TOAST and all.  I think you are right.

加油!go for it!

i think the team for keyhotee is a disaster, for they have made nothing for so long.
i just wonder if they still get paid every month or they have been fired?
i don't want to see the money has been wasted. :(

HI BM. you did a good job!

I have some suggestions, i think there are not enough programme developers  for 3I. because 3I has got a lot of money due to AGS, so i suggest that all the staff's (not programmers' ) first priority should be to find more talents to join the team to promote the progress of programming.

we do not lack of money, we have so many things to do, and i thinkg the other employees(not programmers) should really try their every effort to find more talented programmers to join 3I.  and that's even equally imporant than the development of BTS X.

I do not know if i am right because i know little about softwares, IT or programming. this is just some advices. But I am once in charge of a team of about 100 people, and this is just some of my experience. we should really really pay attention to recruiting more talents to your team and give more time on this job.

At last, hope you guys be successful one day and become heros.
