Title: Want to right the ship? Here's how:
Post by: NewMine on April 10, 2015, 05:19:14 am
Take the BTS that is supposed to vest into Adam K. Ernest's pocket, either 10 million of it or the remaining ~27 million BTS  and use it as incentive for a company or companies to adopt bitUSD into their websites via the shopping cart plugins.  Companies like Ting Mobile, Republic Wireless, thinkgeek.com, Digital Ocean, HushMail, Uber or one of the bitcoin friendly's like Overstock and NewEgg, give 1-3 of them 10 million BTS each that will still vest over the 2 years. 10 million BTS is $50,000 at these low levels. They would stand to make a lot of money and they wouldn't have to do much besides accounting for the new payment method.

You could give them a delegate to mitigate peg fluctuation against them too. It's a win win for whoever takes it and it can't hurt BitShares.

I think it has been proven that adoption has to come by large influential players that adopt the bitAssets and are able to push them marketing wise through their own funds funnels. This would have to be a whale who has skin in the game. Incentivizing someone with a large stake would give them the skin needed to push adoption through use of bitUSD on their products. Grass roots and timely adoption can't keep pace with bitcoin's power draw.  Hell, the moonstone thing couldn't even get 100 retweets and the ones they got were probably laced with a few dummy accounts made by various users here. It seems that the community has shrunk and there maybe 50-100 active users while everyone else sold off and goes back to bitcoin or dogecoin. Something like this would bring them back and a whole lot more.  It's too bad I3 never did anything like this a year ago with the millions of shares they had when they worth a whole lot more too. >:(

It's a hell of a lot better chance than what Adam would bring us through FollowMyVote.

Can't they bait and switch? Adopt, take money, remove adoption later?
There would have to be a long vesting period and a slow trickle down release. One drop at a time.

Also BitUSD isn't really important because most people who have USD are happy with Paypal right now. Bitcoins are being sold right now.

Far better to just leave it at this point^
I crossed out some stuff because after a long time here I am starting to realize that every time I have wanted to point a finger I can also point one at myself.  Better to just be solution oriented.  :)

Delegates are VERY good incentives.  Once a business knows what a delegate does, it incentivizes them to put their own marketing teams on helping bring value to BitShares because a 100% delegate in a 100 Billion dollar BitShares is worth a good chunk of change.

Approaching influencial players.  Not a bad idea.
I'd prefer to give them to Richard Stallman though :)

It's a hell of a lot better chance than what Adam would bring us through FollowMyVote.
There is really no way of telling and I have learned it is sometimes best to chill out with giving predictions.  FollowMyVote has the Pirate Party on board with them...which is a pretty cool little start.
I do hope that he has a sharedropping model though when his token comes out.  Even if he sharedrops a large portion on a political party and less so to us.

That made me chuckle.

Btw is that 30M held in reserve (like Brian's was before), or has it already been given out to Adam to do as he pleases?

It's vested over a 2y period and IIRC handed over to Adam .. but can't say for sure ..

Thanks, but arent those 2 things the opposite?

I agree with NewMine's post. Who says he never comes up with positive suggestions.

So did Brian before he returned his shares. So what?

The addresses that have the vested balances belong to Adam .. no one besides him has access to those funds

So did Brian before he returned his shares. So what?
I didn't even know he returned his shares?! Where is that written?

Who's dumb decision was that? It should have been structured as a bonus, based on how many US elections Adam can get BitShares used for (0). And whats the point of vesting something if only one person has control?

I didn't even know he returned his shares?! Where is that written?
What I should have said was "forgone his performance-related bonus".

I may have express myself unclear .. I do NOT know how the funds have been handed over .. or if they are still in control by Dan or someone else .. It's been a wild guess ..

Brian's incentive fund was held in AGS , only "earmark" for him .
But once he was gone , it won't be for him anymore .

What BTS needs are directors/independent directors.  You can be one of them. :)

Adam E. has as much incentive as anyone for this price to increase.

He is also in a position to be able to cross his fingers. He has two other businesses he is pursuing, FMV and his internet marketing.

As evidence by what he has done lately, it is clear FMV comes first. He is also becoming the second coming of Brian Page in the fact that it's all talk and no tangible results.

So back to the original suggestion.. it sounds nice.. but these big companies only go where the masses are... look how long it took for them to adopt taking btc.. some of them in only really partial ways.. only once we have larger base of users will these companies seek to adopt to access that subscriber base... it's that simple.

Only smaller operators like myself will adopt it for the sake of promotion for the greater good of the community... and hopefully the community responds in kind to show a working micro-model for others to take to macro.. or just go macro on our own and pitty the fools who didn't join in the beginning. :)

I agree that some of the FMV vesting stake could be used strategically in the short term to form strategic partnerships. Adam has already pledged 1M of it will be used toward non-FMV ventures that will benefit BTS directly. Maybe we can request that he bumps this amount up to 10M?

Meeting Adam in Blacksburg over the past week, I saw first hand that he is working diligently on integrating non FMV projects that aim to grow the BitShares userbase as well. The forums are a small glimpse into what is really going on behind the scenes, and I say this well knowing that the "just wait for it" play is notoriously a Brian Page move.  We've seen a delegate proposal for one of these partnerships already... FreebieServers.

NewMine is onto something in that we need to reach out all of our tentacles and build strategic partnerships with potential business partners and ideologically aligned groups. Members of the BTS community can start today! We can draft reusable, templated letters to send out to these potential partners and share them with each other. Of course, dropping a load of stake on some high roller partner would be a great way to get them on board. But should we not at least introduce ourselves to these potentials first, and see which ones bite?

FollowMyVote is a long term play, and I think that Adam has the grit and tenacity to make in roads here as we've seen with the Pirate Party partnership. I think it would be a shame for the community to abandon support for such a great opportunity, even if it will take some time to grow to fruition.

What token? I thought the whole point of the merger was BTS shareholders own Follow My Vote??

Good question, I've never heard anything about FMV having its own "token"...I thought "VOTE" was its token...?

I don't think they are planning to have their own token Fuz, unless you know something we don't.  ;D
