Thank you for the recorded mumble session.   The board meeting open to us to hear what is going on only shows how sophisticated and progressive the team and I3 is.   Bitshares is one of the best investments I've made in crypto and I am happy to say keeping the faith in this project has proved rewarding and shall continue to forward on from here.

I have stake in BTSX as well as BTC.

Regards,

Good dialogue,    Good to see the meeting of the minds come together with great ideas.   Dan Larimer is a smart guy and we are trusting that together  we will guide and find  green pastures and still waters.

disclosure (I am invested in btsx)    (I am not invested in PTS or AGS)

Whatever system will be more efficient and keep us decentralized is probably the best means to reach our ends.

On a different note:
I have a question regarding btc and the block chain.
I know Dan is not a big fan of the btcblockchain, however many VC and companies as well as overstock are building a lot of infrastructure in it. And it is currently the largest network supported in the world.  Would it be wrong to integrate  some of bitshares technology to use  the infrastructure as well?

(disclosure)  I am invested in btc as well.

General Discussion / Re: Ebay and Open Bazaar - maybe wrong target
« on: October 15, 2014, 08:07:40 am »
amencon,

It was just a scenario that exposed the reluctancy of a computer tech to accept bitcoin due to "he thinks its a dying currency",   and him not being aware that there are ways to accept and peg it to dollars (he feels usd is not a dying currency).      *we will see*

The point being implied...  if bitusd is implemented with payment processors, then merchants can decide to keep their digital income from sales in either bitusd,  or btc.      The advantage being if you keep it in bitusd, you can gain interest.  Or you can convert into and out of other assets,  btc etc very easily.      A problem I see with bit pay, coin base converting into usd, is that once you are in usd, it is not as liquid to convert back into btc or other digital assets as bitusd is.

Does that sound right to you guys?

O.P. is right on.

I recently got my computer repaired by an online repair shop.

"do you accept bitcoin?"   I asked,

"no, we don't accept that currency"    he replied,

"I had to ask,  did you know the transaction costs are much lower than credit cards?"  I interjected

"unfortunately bitcoin is a dying currency"  he insisted,

"Did you know you could peg your btc to the USD so that your sales profits are not so volatile?"  I finally stated,

"  .......  silence"    you could hear a pin drop

"Ok, here is my credit card number"  I finally said.

The point of the above scenario being,  when a bitpay coin base or other bitcoin acceptance system can convert btc directly to bitusd and back and forth and streamline the process then things could get interesting, I think.

thoughts welcome.   :)

I've been noticing although the  slight sell off in btsx, combined with the   slight bull run in btc =     price drop of btsx,  but market cap of btsx measured in usd is holding fairly steady.

If bitsharesx can convince  openbazaar... and ebay to accept  bitusd,   we bitshares owners would be very very happy campers.   :) :) :) :P

The beauty of bitshares is if the USD has problems, we can always peg another asset to be used such as  bitbtc.    8)

DNS shares has a nice increase today.

wish I remembered to pick some up.. oh well,  maybe catch it on the pullback if there is one.
Any heads up on the next DAC?

Now thats encouraging    :)

" Everything should be worked in parallel... open baazar, bitwage, etc. Our protocol is different so it takes time to integrate, we should be forking any open source projects to integrate with BTSX."

Is bitcoin considered to be based in the U.S?   I would assume not.  Decentralized means just that right? no central government can claim it.  Can't an exchange be maintained by a network and decentralized also?

Good find.    :) ;) 8)

seems like a perfect fit.

man I'm tired of those banking fees every month.

I was surprised to hear overstock going with counterparty.  Thought they were going to use bitshares.   There are still other companies.

XCP is taking off from the news release.     XCP NXT bitsharesX    My three favorite cryptos, because they are focusing on crypto2.0

Too bad I didn't buy any xcp or nxt  but did buy a few btsx, and very happy i did.

Good post Method.  :)
Thanks for the eye opener.  Can you give us some hints on a few alt. coins you think will take off with a good block chain?

noticeable interests in ripple, doge, and anon coins seem to be the vogue.    I'm into btxs,  ppc, vtc  neon coin and bitcoin, thinking of picking up some nxt and xcp.     my only anon play is neon.
