Just downloaded the ProtoSharesQT but I get a message saying "No block source available" when it loads up. Any ideas?

addnode=54.207.21.146
addnode=54.206.30.227
addnode=54.219.164.14
addnode=146.185.172.136

If you have problems with ProtoShares network discovery add node cryptoseed.cloudapp.net to params of the wallet, example:
Code: [Select]
protoshares-qt.exe -addnode=cryptoseed.cloudapp.netor to protoshares.conf, example:

Code: [Select]
addnode=cryptoseed.cloudapp.net
For everybody behind crazy firewalls use:
Code: [Select]
protoshares-qt.exe -connect=cryptoseed.cloudapp.net:80

I'm not entirely sure how to do that. I tried entering variations of the code into the Console but always came up with "Method not found." Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

It's codes not for console, for console try:
addnode cryptoseed.cloudapp.net:80 add

Oh! Ya that seemed to have been accepted. I tried restarting the client but got the same "no block source available" message. Should I be editing one of the files inside the protoshares folder instead?

Run ProtoClient as protoshares-qt.exe -connect=cryptoseed.cloudapp.net:80
You can do it by creating a .bat file or change the shortcut if you run it using shortcut.

Just to clarify: do I need to setgenerate true to receive pts?

Instead setgenerate true, run mining from menu

I just dl'd Protoshares-QT for Mac.  I'm a little lost.  I get this same error "No block source available" but I don't follow where/how I can add these nodes.  Any help?

Cheers,

Downloaded this and running it under wine in Ubuntu, added the nodes as far as I can tell but its not syncing up. Its saying I have one active connection to the Protoshares network. Seems to be falling further behind. Any ideas?

Do you update protosharesd to 0.2.0? http://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=370.0

Thanks bytemaster, but still nothing for me.  :-\

I even waited about 10 minutes, restarted wallet and re-entered nodes.

How can I determine if its an issue connecting to a node or something else?

I was also able to get mining up and running yesterday around 2:30am - if I can't connect to ProtoShares network with my wallet, will my earnings continue to accrue and payout when I finally do connect?

How can I launch the protoshares-qt client (on Windows 7) from the command line, and/or from the conf. file, instructing it to generate coins and mine? I run a mining manager that periodically restarts miners and/or reboots the computer; it would be nice to have the client mine automatically at launch.

AND/OR is there a separate command-line miner somewhere which I don't know about, and could use (yes, I could look around--sorry; have looked some but not extensively)?

Also, where/how should I expect any user interface feedback on any results from mining (e.g. will it hopefully eventually "mine" a "coin?")

Adding IPs available on this forum still no block source available problem.

Edit: It found one active connection and its now syncing.

Running the windows 32 bit, I get the same thing, but mine,  (after syncing up, less than 1 hour ago) now...starts with 1 connection and then goes to zero, and then back to one, etc.

I added all of the "addnodes" to my .conf file.
If I go to the debug window and try to add them, one at a time, it tells me they are already added, so I know they are all there.

running the 64 bit version (from the command lline prompt), I get:
[ worker0] Hello World!
[Worker0] GoGoGo!
connecting to 54.201.26.128:1337
[Master] work received - sharetarget: (long hex number here)
after a while....
[Worker] collision found: (number) <-> (another number)  #34 @ (3rd number) by 0
[Master] submitted share -> SHARE

then it stops, tells me it has an error, and I have to start over

I have tried the amd and intel versions with no luck, except the above.
Intel 64 bit is on an intel quad processor and 8gb memory
AMD 64 bit is dual core, with 8gb, both 1600 memory.

I see no options to add nodes here, in a batch file, but shouldn't it be using the same .conf file?

thanks
says I have version 0.8.5.0

Just downloaded the ProtoSharesQT but I get a message saying "No block source available" when it loads up. Any ideas?

In you wallet go to Settings>>Options>>Network. Then under Network you declick the "connect through SOCKS-proxy" box - then click "apply". Now close you client and restart it. Double check that SOCKS is unclicked if not repeat the process..

Here are some nodes from my protoshares.conf:
addnode=cryptoseed.cloudapp.net
addnode=180.183.205.118
addnode=162.243.67.4
addnode=162.243.54.126
addnode=37.139.29.236
addnode=64.90.183.137
addnode=180.183.205.118

addnode=146.185.172.136
addnode=162.243.14.13
addnode=94.23.215.174

If you enter them in the wallets command console enter like this:
addnode 94.23.215.174 add
etc
etc

Updates above post.
But 1 specfic addnode wont really matter much if people from start is trying to connect through SOCKS proxy by default and there is so many millions variables of firewall/router/whatever settings that can prevent the client to connect through SOCKS proxy ;)

Just wanted to say: after you add the nodes...wait. Leave the qt running in the background for a couple of hours, even if it still says "No block source available"  after adding the nodes. There's a good chance it will be updated next time you look at it.

Thanks so far.
 I  tried that as well: I entered:

addnode cryptoseed.cloudapp.net add
addnode 180.183.205.118 add
addnode 162.243.67.4 add
addnode 162.243.54.126 add
addnode 37.139.29.236 add

addnode 54.254.192.95 add
addnode 54.207.21.146 add
addnode 54.206.30.227 add
addnode 54.219.164.14 add
addnode 146.185.172.136 add
addnode 162.243.14.13 add

The reply by the console was:
addnode <node> <add|remove|onetry>
Attempts add or remove <node> from the addnode list or try a connection to <node> once. (code -1)

I entered two of them seperately before. might that have something to do with it?

But can I receive PTS that I already sent to a PTS address that was generated by the 0.2.0 client with the 0.4.0 client ?? Please can someone look at my post (with the quotes) above. Thanks! I tried both, adding the nodes with and without the "=" and always with the SOCKS proxy unticked.
TBH you have quite a bit a problem here which surely doenst help promoting protoshares/bitshares, especially not if someone is loosing his money this way! I got the client from the official download section of invictus-innovations.com !

Do I need to "clear out" my old install somehow?

The 0.2.0 client is synchronizing now. I downloaded the 0.4.0 client opened it and closed it again because it was not synchronizing. Then I opened the 0.2.0 client and it began to sync... And my pts are in the wallet now too! Thanks if you have done something about it!
I have two questions:
- How can I transfer my coins to a newer client version?
- Can I just copy the whole folder (protoshares-0.2.0) and safe it on for example an usb stick in order to avoid the loss of coins due to hardware failure?

I have it working on another computer - how can I import my wallet over to there easily?

I'm sorry to say, but this is really messy :(

My PC does not have a protoshares.conf .

I added a few of the new URL's / IP's, but still the wallet is not synchronized.

For this coin to catch on, at least it should easily connect, no??

Where to put protoshares.conf ? In AppData\protoshares? Or in program folder?

What are the contents of a working protoshares.conf? Can anyone please post / update?

If there is NO protoshares.conf - which nodes should I add? Nodes that actually WORK? ;p

Peace!

And good 2014,

devnullius

PS: I asked this question also here: http://scforum.info/index.php/topic,8574.msg22167.html#msg22167

If you want to try our latest client: http://the-iland.net/static/downloads/ProtoShares-0.4.0.zip it has new seed nodes built in.

We will be making that the official download in a bit.

Thank you! For the fast reply.

I already had seen that download, but according to my protoshares client, I am already at version 0.8 (beta)?

Still, I'll try :)

Peace!

There are the topics about pool mining. And yes, to join a pool you need pool mining software you will find right there.

It works now with protoshares-qt.exe -connect=cryptoseed.cloudapp.net:80

but can't protoshares.conf for going thru firewall.
I wonder whether the ports changed so that it must go thru port 80?

By the way, anyone knows the link to tell how to backup the wallet and restore on other desktop??  Thanks

If you always work behind firewall you will not be able to contact other regular nodes, keep runing ProtoShares client as:
Code: [Select]
protoshares-qt.exe -connect=cryptoseed.cloudapp.net:80

Note:  the only node I can get it to work is
Code: [Select]

Everything else is "connection refused."  And I have no ports blocked in the firewall.

I'm a little discouraged that I'm expected to add some code somewhere to make my wallet function correctly.
You guys are expecting mass adoption with that method?

I'm on a mac and I'm also getting a "No block source available" message.

if there's not a way for me to download an updated wallet that fixes this, I don't see how I'm going to have longterm faith in this project

PTS you need the wallet for is just the intermediary to get you a share in the products that are developed.
For me it solved by following the instructions on this thread and sometimes it just needs a bit of time to find source...

Sorry, never mind.  I missed the "Help>Debug Window>Console" part.  I'm good. :)

I had the same problem. But where do you see this?

I would add the nodes, but where the heck do I do that at? lol

Thanks,

Thanks,

In the .conf file, which would be in /users/xxx/appdata/roaming/Protoshares/protoshares.conf  for Windows

here's mine:

server=1
daemon=1
rpcuser=xxxxxxxx
rpcpassword=bleat
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=48392
port=15554
timeout=300
datadir=f:\protoshares
dbcache=1000
gen=0
listen=0
maxconnections=2
#irc=0
upnp=0
dns=0
logtimestamps=1
par=8

connect=5.9.24.81
connect=23.92.25.118

you'd want to change it to maxconnections=10 and change the connects to addnode

I'll always know whether 5.9.24.81 is up or down since it's my machine.  23.92.25.118 used to be reliable, but nowadays I just get connected to my server.  I still haven't seen more than 600 connections simultaneously so there's still room for another 400 or so before the client starts crashing (doesn't use epoll)

oh... alternatively, you can click 'help' 'debug window' and then type 'addnode 5.9.24.81 onetry'

I'm not entirely sure how to do that. I tried entering variations of the code into the Console but always came up with "Method not found." Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

It's codes not for console, for console try:
addnode cryptoseed.cloudapp.net:80 add

this worked for me using the console! thnx!

my nodes wont relay any free transactions or transactions w/ fees below the earlier client

i noticed it had 700 connections earlier, so if you're just using connect, then you'd probably want to change it to addnode

ed: aha, nm, the new client has what i have set for min trans fee anyway, the .0001.  i just never put the free transactions in

Hi all,

I'm looking into some PTS I purchased a while back, trying to revive an old PTS wallet I have.
I downloaded and ran bitshares-pts-qt, but I'm seeing "No block source available".

This is how my BitShares-pts.conf looks like:

lang=en
addnode=61.238.157.8
addnode=54.254.192.95
addnode=54.207.21.146
addnode=54.206.30.227
addnode=54.219.164.14
addnode=146.185.172.136
addnode=162.243.14.13
addnode=cryptoseed.cloudapp.net

(The "lang=en" proves the file is being read, because without it I'm seeing it in my localized language).

Any advice on how to get the client to work? Are there any nodes left running BitShares-PTS?

Also - from what I remember the whole premise of PTS was that you could get other "drived" assets/chains from it.
I haven't "redeemed" any of my PTS since I bought them.

What other cryptocurrencies am I entitled to for my PTS, and how do I claim them?

BitShares PTS has been upgraded to DPOS. See http://pts.cubeconnex.com/index.php?topic=43.0 and http://www.ptscrypto.com.

You can import your old PTS into the new PTS DPOS wallet and continue to use it. If you need any help, feel free to ring a bell at http://ptstalk.org

The BitShares-client and the PTS-DPOS client allow importing your old wallet.dat. You'll automatically receive shares for the PTS in your old PTS addresses.

There are other DACs in the works (Play, Music), but they don't have a client yet. The Music sharedrop will be made on the BitShares blockchain, so importing your keys there will automatically give you NOTES when they're ready.

How about BitShares BTS? You may be able to get some depending on how old your PTS are!
