Hi

My droplet is Debian 7.0 x64/ 1 x $20.00 per month -(hopefully this is the info you wanted  :) ) just to see what I get.

Didn't want to invest anymore just in case the reward not there.

Still waiting for something to show on beeer.org

Do you know what it means in the control panel when it says '[MASTER] work received - share target' ?

Cheers

Hi,

Signed up on digital ocean and have now funded account and hopefully mining.

The control panel shows collisions etc but beeer.org doesn't show any pts or parts of pts...probably done something else wrong :-[ - or do I have to wait a while.

Will open up the support ticket as suggested for proof - you would think they would put it in your confirmation email i.e. you have been referred by......

My pts address is PvYDLa4gESFVK3ssT89FKEo4cmKiCnVz6A

Hiya

Thx for your help.

I hadn't reset the password through the control panel and so it wasn't working.

I am now getting collisions so hopefully something is going right.

At the moment 24.4 c/m and 1.3 s/m - is that good, bad or indifferent?

As a techno dinosaur who has only just discovered crypto currencies - it is a whole new world - but fun.

Happy mining

Thx for your response.

At the moment I don't even appear to be able to type anything into the black screen - get as far as user name then I can't even type in my password.  Checked on the digital ocean help and apparently i have to download an SSH - putty.exe.  https://www.digitalocean.com/community/articles/how-to-create-your-first-digitalocean-droplet-virtual-server

I have done this and enter info as detailed.  I then open the putty screen and can't type anything in so the session times out.

Somewhat confused by the whole process.

I am new to mining - I have an old pc hooked up to pool mining at ypool - at least that is working and also on cex.io for btc - simple process just buy and watch.  Unfortunately I am scratching my head about this.

Any assistance gratefully received

Cheers

Hi

Trying to set up in Digital Ocean but it is asking for a hostname - do I have to register a domain name etc etc before I can use this or am I missing something;

Following instructions from bitcointalk, as detailed below;

"Next click on create a new droplet. Pick Debian 7.0 x64 and then choose a droplet. I personally recommend starting with 5x the $20/month options and then move up if you find them to be profitable. Once you create your droplet (fill in all other relevant information like the droplet name - which doesn't matter), hit create droplet. You'll get an email with your username and password. Go back to your droplet and click console access. You'll see a black terminal window appear. Type in your username (always root) and then your password (from the email) - note your password won't appear as you type it just type the whole thing as click enter.

Next, type in the following code:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install yasm -y git make g++ build-essential libminiupnpc-dev
sudo apt-get install -y libboost-all-dev libdb++-dev libgmp-dev libssl-dev dos2unix

git clone https://github.com/thbaumbach/ptsminer
cd ~/ptsminer/src
make -f makefile.unix
./ptsminer <your PTS address> <number of threads>

Go to http://ptsweb.beeeeer.org/user/<your PTS address> to see how many coins your getting!

If this guide helped you to mine some coins please send your tips to PqmyVWJtJgb2qudCiDyQvTMo7ibJfWiuvY, I really appreciate them and they help fund me spending my time to create future guides!

Thanks for reading!

No <> around the address and # of threads.

Yes you should include a gap before the address and after it before the # of threads"

Have I missed something?

Cheers

Thanks for the info/feedback.

I have gone back to the drawing board as I think that Beetle559 has raised a good point - early adopters should be the target and then once the early adopters have  bought in the hope is that the product/Keyhotee will go 'viral' when the non techies see the benefits.

BTW Happy Thanksgiving to those on the other side of the pond.

Happy St Andrew's day to the Scottish

Update:

Having written a small section for the non technical on Keyhotee and tried it out on friends/family of the techno dinosaur persuasion the responses I have had are:

Is my ID only as secure as my computer - what if I get a virus?

What is people start falsely attacking my 'good name', which means people won't trade with me?

Who are the arbitrators of disputes and how do they get paid?

What will the program look like on my computer?

Is it an online interface so I can access anywhere or can I only access it from my computer?

Am I able to have a paper back up of everything?

What happens if my computer dies?  Is there a central back up facility?

If it is open source software how can I be sure that any updates I download will not be malicious?  i.e. includes a key logger.

What do you mean I have to mine my ID each year?

If I have a multi wallet do I have to remember lots of passwords or just one?

Who controls all the IDs?

There were some other unprintable comments - I will leave those to your imagination.

Most liked the idea of have a unique ID for transactions but were mainly concerned about computer security.

Even though I thought that I had made it fairly simple it appears that I had over estimated people's understanding of the 'crypto world'.

The answers to these maybe contained within the Invictus blurb however I would be grateful for any answers so that I can streamline the info that I am pulling together.

Thanks in advance

General Discussion / An approach for engaging the non technical

I had a chat to Invictus, a couple of days ago, re drawing up a one page sheet/flyer/pdf that could explain to non technical people and newcomers to the cryptocoin world what Invictus offer.

A couple of sentences on each 'product' DACs, Bitshares,Protoshares etc

In my opinion it also needs to be fairly simply written so that it can be easily translated in other languages.

Invictus already have a flyer for Keyhotee Free Space, see http://static.squarespace.com/static/51fb043ee4b0608e46483caf/t/5270bd60e4b04f272062ebdd/1383120224597/Keyhotee%20Free%20Space%20Flyer%202.pdf

The problem is that a lot of non technical people just don't seem to grasp crypto currencies and how they can revolutionise the world because most have bought into the fiat model and can't see beyond it.

A lot of people can't even understand the concept let alone products available and companies that enhance the cryptocoin system.

Also as it can be quite difficult to get started - just buying bitcoins can be an issue - non-techs just switch off.

So essentially it is finding away to express in very simple terms what is on offer.

The technical people need to capture the imagination of the non technical.

I aim to have some suitable text ready by the weekend - wind turbine and computer issues willing...long story.

I would appreciate comment and critic from all.  Not too brutal please.

Hopefully if it is any good Invictus could take the flyers to conferences etc

One thing I would like to add at the end is some comments by the forum members on what the Invictus products mean to them.

Just post them on this thread.

(as an aside I listened to a really good podcast by Cliff High on Red Ice Creations about Bitcoin/ bitcoin concept - including a very good non technical summation of what Bitcoin is - see www.redicecreations.com - if you are interested).

I am officially awarded idiot status...as I input my NMC wallet and not PTS wallet in the forum thread.

My PTS wallet is PeXBwC1BH7U2Sop6VkNpEvCNkP183Ut2Nj

If I had a brain I would be dangerous.  :-[

Apologies

Hi Bitstrader,

I only use bter for exchanging - I would not advise keeping your coins on an exchange just in case...

I just queried with the exchange about the NMC wallet, which is not yet showing.

The blockchain download is slow so they have hidden the wallet for the time being.

So hopefully it won't be long for me to be able to exchange the NMC for PTS

Thanks for the reassurance.

I believe that Invictus have a exceptionally good product and therfore the incentive for holding bitshares shouls deter the 'shorts'.
