Title: Campaign Liquidity Exposure & Utility - Exchanges and Payment Processor Adoption
Post by: CoinHoarder on September 05, 2014, 08:04:17 am
Being able to exchange BTSX at more places will get BTSX more exposure, as some people just prefer some exchanges over others or feel safer with certain exchanges, that brings more liquidity, and it spreads the risk around multiple exchanges. Getting Bitassets added to more exchanges will create more exposure (and thus demand) for Bitassets, and allow crypto currency exchanges to trade decentralized commodities (gold/oil) and FIAT... that is our selling point there. :)

The first mission of this campaign is to get added on a few more exchanges and a payment processor. I have ranked the top 11 exchanges in the last 24 hours comparing their volumes in USD and payment processors known to work with alternative crypto currencies. Any help with links, emails, new services, etc. would be nice.

Pretty much all of the campaign missions you can complete for free, please also suggest other people do the missions as well. Some exchanges allow voting for coins to get them accepted, so a community effort might could get BTSX or bitassets traded on them, and others will need to be contacted via other formats. We need you to vote, submit forms, send pre-filled tweets, and comment on their Facebook to really get their attention!

The red exchanges do not trade BTSx or bitassets.
The orange exchanges allow voting or form sumbittal for coins to be added.
The green exchanges have at least BTSX already trading but maybe not Bitassets.

Payment processors adopting Bitassets will bring them more utility and people can use them for eCommerce, increasing the likelihood someone would buy Bitassets. Having eCommerce on the block chain will increase the rate of deflation as transaction fees are destroyed, thus improving the bottom line of BitsharesX. There are several multi-coin payment processors and some have a form to submit or vote, and I will list some of the bigger multicoin payment processors here. Payment processors with an automatic coin add form or vote are listed below, for the ones that don't we will try to contact via social media or emails at a later date. These are the services known to work with alternative cryptocurrencies.

Payment processors adopting Bitassets will bring them more utility and people can use them for ecommerce, increasing the likelyhood someone would buy Bitassets. Having Ecommerce on the block chain will increase the rate of deflation as transaction fees are destroyed, thus improving the bottom line of BitsharesX. There are several multi coin payment processors and some have a form for submittal or vote. I will list some of the bigger multicoin payment processors. Payment processors with an automatic coin add form or vote are listed below.

Coinpayments.net
  • Coinpayments.net is the oldest multicoin payment processor, and they also have a form you can submit to get BitsharesX support. Please go submit BitsharesX and bitassets at the following link:
  • Adoption by this payment processor could mean the ability to purchase items and services with BTSX and Bitassets from these businesses: https://www.coinpayments.net/store-directory

Altaccept.com
  • Please fill out the following form with the add new coin message topic and tell them about BTSX and Bitassets:
  • http://www.altaccept.com/?!=contact

The first payment processor mission.  :D +5%

Great initiative, this should be our top priority at the moment.

For Mintpal I found the following,

Quote from: mintpal
Shortcut to Addition

A coin can be urgently reviewed for addition when the following occurs.

A review fee of 5 BTC is paid.
We do not require coins taking the urgent route, to be at least 28 days old. Coins scheduled for release are also welcome to take this route.

We encourage coins to take the regular path to addition. For those in a hurry, the review fee means we will review your coin – and make a decision within 24 hours. If a positive decision is reached, your coin will be added within 24 hours of the decision being made.

Listing fees are not refundable. We do not guarantee addition, but if you meet the requirements for general addition – then there is no reason why you won’t be added.

Shouldn't they pay us money so that we support them technically and let them make money from the trades on their platform?
I so absolutely NO reason to give THEM money ..

Looking for other coin processors.

https://www.gocoin.com/

They have a sales & a support email, but I think the best bet would be to go directly to the officers.

next  steps?

I am thinking of collecting email addresses, facebook links, and twitter links for the remaining exchanges that do not have voting or a submittal form. I can make a list of things to do daily with prefilled tweets and emails, where you would only need to click a link to send them. You would just need to have an email client configured, but I think for Facebook a link to a profile will have to suffice as there's no way to do it automatically.

A good social media and email campaign will at least get us on their radar, if not result in being added to a couple exchanges or payment processors. This is the inspiration for my idea of how I want future missions to work.. It is people working to get online poker legalized in the US. I would like to use a similar strategy, but combined with emails. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/57/poker-legislation-forum-brought-you-ppa/weekend-poker-action-plan-keep-telling-sen-kelly-ayotte-17-others-back-poker-1037109/index836.html

Thanks for the help everyone. I agree with Gamey, we should avoid those that request money to be added and focus on the others.

Couldn't we technically bypass gateways, trade on only decentralized exchanges (which we can clone for multiple altcoins) and transact in bitUSD directly?  BitSapphire is making an app to enable this...

Coinhoarder, you are the man for taking the initiative here to reach out the tentacles of the BitShares community into other exchanges and hopefully some Payment Processors. Much respect and kudos.

I have been emailing and submitting votes for the exchanges and processors you have posted in the OPs... everyone who reads this needs to do the same please! I have reached out directly to the Coinport COO about adding BitAssets and integrating their exchange into coinmarketcap.com. Hoping he gives me a friendly reply back.

Please add Coinport as a green exchange on the OP: https://coinport.com/.

Thanks for the hard work and dedication!

The way I look at it is that we could wait for services to be built around BTSX and bitassets, but while we are waiting it could be beneficial to solicit companies already working in the space that might could implement it faster. I think the more options the better when it comes to payment processors and exchanges anyways.

I think getting added to already existing payment processors increases that likelihood a website or service will accept BTSX or bitUSD. You can't just expect them to all drop their current payment processors for one that is newly created that accepts BTSX or bitUSD. Coinpayments.net and Gocoin for instance, already have an extensive network of websites using their shopping cart plugins.

The decentralized solutions aren't ideal IMO in that you can't pay a website requesting Bitcoins for their products or services with BTSX or Bitassets.. There is no way to exchange them in a truly decentralized manner. Getting payment gateways on board will be the 3rd step to this campaign. To make it more likely gateways and payment processors will adopt BTSX and Bitassets, I think it is important to get added to a couple more reputable exchanges.

I agree, the payment processors are really needed to start seeing the basic crypto system grow.  As it is, BTSX is not a Bitcoin fork and I *believe* they gave up on the backwards compatibility.  All this means BTSX will be slightly harder to integrate with services because people can't just drop in bitcoind supporting code to existing solutions.

I am a little suspect about how much it will impact the market cap TBH, but I think it is a vital and necessary step.

Now that we've made original contact with a few exchanges and payment processors, I think we should reinforce the fact we really want their services! These will be follow up missions to the original ones.

First send a pre-filled tweet.. or edit it and make your own and emphasize other benefits of BitsharesX and bitassets!! All you need to do is click the links below to open up twitter pre-filled to the exchanges and payment processors we've already contacted. Just log in or signup.. it doesn't take long! After you are logged in you can send all tweets in under a minute.  8)

Second, Facebook requires a bit more effort, but I have put a link to each service's Facebook account. Please comment on one of their previous posts that they should implement BTSX and bitassets! If you like just copy and paste my comment, or feel free to write your own or elaborate! My comment was: Please look into adding support for BitsharesX and bitassets such as bitUSD and bitBTC! BitsharesX allows trading of decentralized bitassets which resemble the real value of cryptos, fiat, and commodities.

Nice resources, sent out some fb posts / tweets to those entities. I also reached out to Justcoin about researching into BitSharesX / BitAssets to possibly list on their exchange in the future.

Nice, I will be adding some more exchanges and adding some missions for services that are already on the list soon. I don't want to overwhelm everyone, so I'll probably only do one update a day. :)

I'm getting Sunday's mission in early.  ;)

I have created pre-filled tweets with all of the services we have yet to contact that are on the list. Please take 5 minutes and send all of these services a tweet telling them to add support for BitsharesX and/or Bitassets! It literally takes 2 minutes if you have a Twitter account, so please go do it!

The COO of Justcoin responded to my inquiry:

Quote
Thank you for your feedback and interest, Robert.
We find BTSX promising and will research it further.
Cheers,
August

I responded to him saying myself and the community at large would be glad to help with any research / questions they have. Hopefully they are serious; this would be a great exchange to be listed on!

Can someone peer review this email below? I am going to gather email addresses for all services on the list. Email is about the only thing left to do I can think of, unless someone else has any other ideas.. I would be happy to hear. :)

Subject: Please consider adding BTSX and Bitassets to your exchange.

BitsharesX is no clone coin, so please hear me out! BTSX has the first commodity, cryptocurrency, and FIAT decentralized asset exchange, the assets are named Bitassets. The values of the Bitassets are "market pegged" to their true real-life values through trade on a decentralized market. The market peg is held by people taking opposite investment positions on that asset (short or long). The appropriate amount of BTSX is held in collateral to back the Bitassets such as bitUSD, bitBTC, bitCNY, and bitGOLD.

Accepting BTSX could expand your original business model beyond cryptocurrencies and into real life commodities. Furthermore, working with decentralized FIAT is much more convenient due to onerous taxes and government policies such as kyc, etc. As of this Wednesday, Bitassets will gain interest from transaction and market fees from each Bitassets. Some estimates have put that interest at about 5% to 10% yearly, and makes bitUSD a good alternative to a savings account in a bank.

Along with the above benefits your customers will enjoy the 15 second block confirmations, on the new Delegated Proof of Stake algorithm, which are as secure as one Bitcoin confirmation. Delegated proof of work uses a stake holder's vote to vote in the 101 block producers that alternate turns producing the next block. If a delegate is doing a bad job, or is attacking the network, then they can be voted out of power easily by other stake holders.

Unlike Bitcoin, Litecoin, and most PoW currencies, BTSX is truly deflationary as transaction fees are  destroyed and no more BTSX will be printed. Most cryptocurrencies are still in the inflationary stage of their distribution model. It is possible that due to its utility and features, along with its truly deflationary model, it could appreciate in value better and faster than other cryptocurrencies.

In summary, please consider adding BitsharesX and Bitassets to your exchange for all the benefits they will bring, and the large community that is forming around it. BitsharesX and Bitassets are truly revolutionary ideas that deserve to be traded on the bigger cryptocurrency exchanges, and rise above the "copy and paste coins" and gimmicks that alternative cryptocurrencies have mostly been in the past.

Thanks,

Your name here.

I will get emails for all of the services and the final draft of the email posted by tomorrow evening. Feel free to suggest alternative methods of soliciting services and/or services not on the list.. I know there are probably quite a bit of services that aren't on the list.

The destruction of transaction fees serves as a means to pay "dividends" to shareholders by increasing the buyer power of remaining BTSX in the system.

Thanks,

Subject: Please consider adding BTSX and Bitassets to your exchange.

BitSharesX is no clone coin, so please hear me out! BTSX has the first commodity, cryptocurrency, and FIAT decentralized asset exchange, the assets traded on the decentralized exchange are named Bitassets.

As of this Wednesday, Bitassets will gain interest from transaction and market fees from each Bitasset. Some estimates have put that interest at about 5% to 10% yearly, and this makes bitUSD a good alternative to a savings account in a bank.

Along with the above benefits your customers will enjoy the 10 second block confirmations, on the new Delegated Proof of Stake algorithm, which is as secure as one Bitcoin confirmation. Delegated proof of stake uses a stake holder's vote to vote in the 101 block producers that alternate turns producing the next block. If a delegate is doing a bad job, or is attacking the network, then they can be voted out of power easily by other stake holders. In this way, delegates that were "hired" can also be "fired" by stakeholders in the network. The adjustable pay and burn rate of delegates also allows for creative campaigns to be launched by delegates, who can then funnel a % of their pay toward bolstering the community in some way.

I am on the fence about whether bombing these services with emails is a good or bad way to go about this. Some of the services don't have general inquiry emails, only support helpdesks or support emails, so I am not sure if it is a good idea to spam them.

I have emailed one exchange with the above letter, BTC-e. I received a very short reply back "Hello no planned."  >:(

I tweeted all services listed in the OP, including one in which I personally have had prior correspondence with the owner and follow on twitter/facebook friend.. coins-e. He didn't respond back either.

I also posted on all services Facebooks, and I received a reply back from only Coinpayments.net saying "Cool we'll look into it." Hopefully that amounts to something..

Can I get some feedback on how we should proceed, if we should do mass emails or not, or possibly post on their Bitcointalk forums?

I think when contacting the exchanges it is good to push the ability of their exchange to become a commodity exchange via bitGLD etc, and expand their current business models. Also the point about bitUSD and other bitFIAT possibly not being subject to money transmission or money service business laws, and fees/taxes that come along with exchanging cryptos to FIAT.. basically improving their bottom line.

Just so I'm clear, which bitassets are currently live and which are on the way soon?  I don't have access to the client yet as my laptop is too old (will need to use another machine) but want to help here.  I need to know which bitassets we are requesting they add.

Also, do we only want the bitassets added, or BTSX as well?

Finallly, who should I direct interested exchange operators to if they reply with questions?  Is there someone else's email address (or phone number) I can drop in my emails for them to ask questions?

I'm working on a new email pitch and I'm ready to send it out but just need these questions answered first.  Here's what I've got ready to send:

Dear HitBTC team,

I'm writing to you on behalf of BitSharesX, which I believe could easily expand your business into a crypto-equity exchange trading real world commodities via BitShares X's bitassets.  These include bitUSD, bitCNY, bitEUR and bitBTC. bitGLD and bitOIL will be unlocked and soon any commodity un the sun will be tradable as a bitasset.  This is the true bitcoin2.0 and we hope HitBTC will manoeuvre intelligently to profit and grow from it.  These bitassets are market-pegged to the real-world commodity or currency via a decentralized and secure mechanism.  Enabling Bitshares X (BTSX) and the bitassets bitUSD bitCNY, bitEUR, bitBTC, bitGLD on your exchange is allowing entire new markets to flood your exchange with capital, grow your business, and give HitBTC a competitive advantage over the other exchanges.

shows all of them ... whenever the published feeds is higher then 51 the market is open .. once 500kBTSX are on both sides (bid/ask) the trading starts!

IMHO btsx does not make much sense for payment processors as it is as volatile as bitcion and any other crypto currency
processors and merchants want a stable currency such as the bitUSD

New email template

(has been sent to BTC China)

Dear ---exchange name--- team,

I'm writing to you on behalf of BitShares-X and our bitassets.  I believe ---exchange name---- could easily expand into a crypto-asset exchange, giving it a competitive edge over other cryptocurrency exchanges.  Bitshares-X's bitassets allow for the trading of real world commodities and currencies all within the crypto ecosystem using our bitassets.  So far these include bitUSD, bitCNY, and bitBTC. bitGLD and bitEUR will be unlocked shortly and soon any commodity or currency under the sun will be tradable as a bitasset, using our invention, the market peg.

This is the true bitcoin2.0 and we hope ----exchange name--- will manoeuvre intelligently to profit and grow with us.  Bitassets are market-pegged to the real-world commodity or currency via a decentralized and secure mechanism.  Enabling your users to trade the bitassets bitUSD, bitCNY, bitBTC, and soon bitGLD on your exchange will allowing entire new markets to flood your exchange and we are confident they will be very popular.  These are cryptocurrencies with a fixed stable value, pegged to the 'real world' value, a very useful hedging tool for all traders, offering the advantages of cryptocurrency with the stability of more traditional commodities and currencies.

I've contacted the following exchanges with slightly different versions of my email:

Hitbtc
BTC China
bitfinex
Mintpal (via support ticket, could not find email)
Bitstamp
Kraken
Gocoin
Huobi

It's not perfect, having a largely ad-hoc marketing team not all working from the same office, a side effect of decentralization, but I thought it's worth giving the big exchanges a shot, maybe they will have a look at it.

Phone calls would be more effective, but I don't want to do that.  In person visits to the big exchanges would be even better as others have said.

Got an interested reply from Hitbtc:

"Thank you for reaching out to HitBTC. Your proposal looks rather interesting and we are glad that you are considering the cooperation with us.
I have studied the information on Bitshares X on your site and on wiki; the project description is very impressive. By the way, do I get it right that the project is not launched yet?
I wonder if you can explain me in more detail how it all will work. What are your conditions and what is required from our side?
Thank you,"

I replied with the following:

"Thank you for the prompt reply, and for taking the time to understand our project.  Bitshares-X is a very large and multifaceted project but I'll explain as succinctly as I can.  We are essentially a decentralised bank and exchange which operates on 200% reserve.

Bitshares-X is live now.  The current bitassets are listed here:
http://www.bitsharesblocks.com/assets

The bid depth and ask depth for any asset needs to reach a certain threshold before going live and the number of live feeds must be over 51.  So far bitUSD, bitCNY and bitBTC have been 'unlocked' and are currently tradable within our downloadable client as well as on a few third party exchanges.  You'll see bitGLD and bitEUR are highlighted in orange and they will become tradable next.  There is no individual who decides when a bitasset will 'unlock', anyone can create one and then the market decides to 'unlock' it once there is enough demand to support the market peg, which keeps the price tightly pegged to the 'real world' price.

As Bitshares-X grows, any fiat currency or commodity will be tradable all within the Bitshares-X decentralised exchange.  For example bitOIL, will track the price of oil and let oil speculators trade, and bitSLV will do the same for silver and bitGLD for gold.  Real world assets tradable in cryptocurrency with all the benefits it brings such as privacy, security, simplicity, open to all, almost no fees.

What we are initiating currently with exchanges including HitBTC, is understanding of bitassets.

Bitassets can be added to HitBTC, similar to adding multiple cryptocurrencies.  The difference is that bitassets, as they are released, appeal to entire new markets.  Having bitGLD, once it launches, on your exchange would mean you could advertise to gold speculators, and likewise with bitSLV, bitOIL, opening up huge channels of new users.  There can even potentially be bitassets such as bitGOOG tracking the price of Google stock, resulting in an entire stock exchange within the bitshares client, as well as currencies and commodities!

We therefore encourage HitBTC to expand into bitassets now, in such a way that it is ready to add other bitassets in the future and stay one step ahead of the game in the crypto-exchange ecosystem.   At this stage this would meaning adding bitUSD, bitCNY and bitBTC as tradable options.

I hope this explanation contains the key information,

I'd be happy to answer any more questions about Bishares-X you may have,

Regards"

2nd reply from HitBTC, sounds pretty positive!

"Thank you for the information.
We will need some time to make all the preliminary arrangements on our side.
I will get back to you as soon as we are ready to discuss the implementation itself and the technical details."

They don't need contacting again so please don't push them further about this.

Got a negative reply from bitstamp:

"Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your inquiry. However Bitstamp is not currently looking to add additional crypto assets to our exchange platform."

Great job Matt. Admittedly this is a hit or miss game, some services are open minded towards accepting new cryptos and embracing new technologies... Others are not. I think it is important to at least contact them because the worst they can do is say no, and that at least gets their attention so they know we exist. Even if they say no, maybe they will eventually come to and see the benefits accepting BTSX can provide.

A lot of these services have seen new cryptos pop up in the past with big market caps and subsequently disappear just as fast as they popped up. It may take a while for the major services to realize we are not a pump and dump coin and we are not going anywhere soon. Over time Btsx will be vindicated and adopted by these services. The important thing is just to get our name out there and make these services aware that we are an innovative cryptocoin that is not going anywhere anytime soon. I speculate we will slowly see success with these larger services just as Litecoin did. I know from being in the Litecoin community so long.. They really struggled (and still do) to get big Bitcoin services on board, but it did slowly happen after a lot of persistence by the community. We just need to keep at it and we can't give up! It will happen eventually and that will cement us in our place at the top of the crypto economy!
