General Discussion / Re: Management/Implementation Delegate Proposal

Data Security Node, I of course I know what lmao means, I was asking for what he thought was so funny. He has now specifiied.

As for your point, of course it would need to be done in some kind objective impartial way. I was merely proposing a concept, you decided to put words in my mouth and specify details of the concept which would obviously not fit well in this decentralized ecosystem.

Furthermore, due to my current full time job and circumstances, it would be very difficult for me to provide adequate services as a delegate, thus I put up a proposal in hopes that I could spur someone else to do it.

Yes I agree with both, Rune's response was a good start and even if the schedule changes frequently, it is very helpful. Thank you! I can't run the delegate, but I hope this spurs someone to take action.

Exactly. Great Idea bluebit. Something like that is what I am thinking about.

More about this:

"yes, I am on all of those except Nullstreet. Regardless, I was trying to make a point that we do not seem to have a solid plan for ultimate profitabity and adoption. We have some things in the works, but I do not feel they are enough. I do not feel that simply implementing those that are in the works is enough. Beside what I listed off the top of my head, I was asking to see a layout of the complete features planned that with make people use bitshares, bitassets, or other bitshares things.

I think we should have some central location where every feature that is going to happen is layed out with a schedule and who is working on them. Not just github for code, or Nullstreet for marketing, but everything in one place. This will help people to be able to vote out people that are not doing what they should and increase the productivity of delegates. I've just continued this idea on a new thread: Implementation/Management Delegate Proposal. Please read."

hpenvy2, call it what you want. I do not desire to argue about the semantics; my point was that it operates much like a company with investors. I give money, people get paid to implement ideas and make me profit. I believe this is a generally excepted concept of how bitshares works.

General Discussion / Management/Implementation Delegate Proposal

So it seems I've spurred some discussion about bitOIL and there appears to be interest, but it also seems like nothing is going to develop from this.

Maybe there is not enough of a demand for bitOIL, but whether it happens or not  is not the point. How do we provide a mechanism to get actually put this, and any other ideas, into action?

This is a bigger discussion than bitOIL feeds. It is about improving the bitshares system to make it so things that are good and will increase the value get done. Currently they do not. I propose that we have an implementation/management delegate to choose ideas the community wants, find people to implement, and track, review, and announce their progress in a public forum (maybe bitsharesblocks?) so people can vote them out if they don't do it what they should, to motivate them to make progress.

General Discussion / Overall Plan and Schedule
« on: February 07, 2015, 08:14:33 pm »
As an investor in your company, I want to know the overall plan and schedule, and I'm sure everyone else does too. Don't say "we try not to give schedule predictions because people will get angry if we miss them." Well, I am angry now, so give it your best shot. I'll forgive you if you guess wrong, but I at least want to see that you have something to guess about.

You need a plan, and a good one. You need some leadership. You need a schedule. You need people to execute it. Show it to me.

Off the top of my head I want to know:

Light wallet
Light wallet with market engine
Integrated bitcoin wallet
Gateways
Some sort of marketing push about anything

Sorry for being so rude, but I am angry both that I am loosing my money and that this great vision is failing to come to life. Thank you.

Nice find. Yea that looks good to me, as long as it's specified what the source is it works, right?

Maybe even a derivative of crude oil price would be o.k.? Like average price at the pump for U.S....I understand that it is not directly correlated but at least it would give traders access to the market in some form.

...if that will not work and they have to use future prices, than it sounds like we have to have client development. For now probably not important enough.

The feed type is significant:

for example - can be a wide difference between:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Texas_Intermediate
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brent_Crude

Thanks for the info. If that is the case, that is fine. Maybe they will need to take an average and provide that. Whatever will work is up to them to decide, I just want them to do it.

@teenagecheese can you be more specific about the type of bitOIL you want to buy?
To what price exactly you want it to be pegged ?

I don't know the specifics, that is what I am asking for a delegate to do, figure out what feeds would be good and provide them. The two that exist are said to be "daily feeds," that sounds to be good enough to start. Obviously I would prefer the most accurate and frequent possible. The better service the feed providing delegates can provide, the better it will be.

Edit: if the delegates need more money to pay for a feed, sobeit, let them provide it and ask for higher pay to finance it.

I just want to be able to use the bitshares market to invest in oil at todays low prices (~$50/barrel). However that materializes, I don't care.

Mining bitUSD isn't gonna make a big difference I think. Most large miners instantly sell their blocks OTC for fiat already, or send them to an exchange account that automatically insta-dumps.

Maybe it wont do much, but it cannot hurt, it can only provide positive benefit.

If it converts any amount of miners away from other coins then it results in buy pressure for BTS.

Even if they sell every bit of BTS or bitUSD they get, it still results in more liquidity in the bitassets as they are buying and selling them.

Minebitshares has a positive effect on helping bitshares outperform other cryptos.  Whether that effect is tiny or big remains to be seen.
Maybe you're right it won't get too much traction, but I don't think it will hurt. We have it available so we should market it. Advertise everything we got. Every small bit helps.

Agreed

Yea even if it's just daily feeds I guess that would be o.k., but right now we only have two. What a joke. Hopefully the voting system advances more and lame delegates that don't even post simple feeds that are available get voted out.

This stuff will work better/happen naturally when there is more competition for delegates, but right now they need to be pushed by the core team to do things I think. We can't just rely on natural motivation when we are trying to get adoption. We need to FORCE utility.
