I'm still confused about accounts versus wallets. I've had it explained to me 20 times but I'm not able to apply it in openledger.
Looks like I have an account called eastside. 2 days ago I THOUGHT I had set up either an account or a wallet called eastside.
But I can't send from that.
I've sent BTS TO that wallet, but it won't act like it's mine.
Also: I own the names eastside and westside from early donations I gave.
So thought I was setting up wallets with these names.
What I need to know is - do I send from a wallet or from an account?
And correct me if I'm wrong here: Accounts reside IN wallets yes?

You send from and to accounts. Wallets in bitshares terminology are simply containers for accounts, they store your private keys basically.
To gain access to your accounts from BTS 1 you'll have to import private keys or a wallet export from the old client. Did you do that when you setup your wallet?

If you compare it with your bank
you choose your bank - openledger.wallet
on this bank you can have many bankaccount - same on openledger.
bitshares in this case are the backbone to connect all the banks aka walletproviders on the system.
per wallet you need only 1 backup, so if you have the need to import you get all accounts back. i had the same problem and more videos or documentations would be
really nice.

I agree with shentist re more videos needed. Have the same problem:two registered accounts, but cannot send from one to the other.

I have always found the wallet and account terminology in bitshares confusing.
the wallet is what needs backing up as it contains your different accounts. Each account can hold multiple currencies.
To avoid noob confusion I think the web wallet should be limited so there can only be one account per wallet.

sounds like a great idea to implement into a "BitShares for Dummies" wallet :)

I think the simplest and easiest way to improve the experience for new users would be some more information in the "startup" page to tell them how to do basic things such as funding their wallet and performing a simple transfer.

It should not be limited. It just need to be clearly explained. The idea is simple, its just not clearly stated anywhere.
Assets go in to Accounts ---> Accounts can hold different Assets.
Accounts go in to Wallets ---> Wallets can hold different Accounts.
Wallets are accessible through the Client ---> A Client can access different Wallets.
A Client can be installed locally or accessed through the web. Wallets must be imported into Clients in order to access Accounts.
