My delegate is now live and everything is set to go.
- It’s hosted on a DigitalOcean instance in Singapore.
- Price feeds will automatically kick in once elected.
- Riverhead has secured everything. It’s a fortress.
What will this delegate be spending its diluted funds on?
- Buy targeted reddit ads in /r/BitcoinMarkets and /r/Futurology - give away small BitUSD and BitGold samples to redditors with high karma and aged accounts.
- Give “Bitcoin royalty” some BitAsset samples.
- Buy a front page ad on coinmarketcap.com
- Good community ideas that get support will have access to funding.
Obviously the end goal is for everyone to be using BitAssets, even mom and dad. But at this very early stage in BitShares history, targeting “smart money”, knowledgeable investors is the obvious first target. With the recent nullstreet marketing initiative (http://nullstreet.com), our community will have the funding necessary to make shit happen.
- All marketing initiatives will be open for community participation.
- All creatives will be open sourced for anyone to use.
- I will keep shareholders up-to-date on all marketing initiatives.
The great thing about paid delegates is there no longer has to be a “top secret” marketing effort going on in the background. When delegates make promises, they can be held publicly accountable by the community of shareholders that pay for their efforts. I plan to set this example for other delegates who campaign in the future and make it a part of the BitShares culture.
Voter Apathy
One of the major issues with DPOS is voter apathy. Everyone thinks “other people” will vote for good delegates and that type of thinking results in extremely few votes actually being cast. Please don't rely on “other people” and take action. Don't be a stereotype.

- Buying "ads" is far too vague. I will vote for a marketing delegate when there is a clear and documented plan.
- Delegates using pay to give away funds is legal grey area and without a very clear policy is at best wasteful and at worst fraud.
How about publishing a website? Sharing your real identity? Uploading a business plan document?

+5% you have my vote.

Voted for you and Toast. Let's get this ball rolling!

If you spend some time around the forums, you'll discover there is nothing vague about anything I'm doing. For the marketing plan please go to nullstreet.com (http://nullstreet.com).

I saw a closed forum and a dropbox link with a few graphics. Am I missing something?

I'm voting for you as a delegate, as it seems you're doing exactly what I proposed here (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=8793.msg114069#msg114069): )
Please approve me for your message board.

Voted, and did it right this time, it went though. I voted for him because he is revealing himself to be a professional, highly experienced, and an action taker.
-
+5% You'll have my vote, though most of my remaining stake is in cold storage, but there's a solution in the next update it seems...
Yup. I haven't voted with most of my stake yet either. Next update will have a simple cold storage / voter key solution.

You have my vote too :)

Help! For Step 5, When I hit vote, I get a popup which says "Are you sure? This will send xxxxxxxx BTS to (my name). It will charge a fee of 0.5 BTS.
I've never voted. Why do I have to send all my BTS to my self for a fee?

You can change the transaction fee to 0.1 BTS by clicking on Preferences on the left side of the window and changing the value there.
You have to send the entire account value to yourself because it allows the blockchain to store your voting data with the account balance data and essentially any time this data is changed you need a small fee(to prevent spamming and such).
Hope this helps

Thats how voting works .. everytime you move your funds you Vote ... its a part of the transactions ... to vote with your full strength you need to move your full amount

Thanks that worked...Why is 0.5 fee default if one can chose lower (0.1)?

Thanks xeroc...voted for you and nikolai as well.

Thanks that worked...Why is 0.5 fee default if one can chose lower (0.1)?
The original reason was that if everyone had to only pay 0.1 then running a delegate would not even pay for the server ...
with the most recent changes and payed delegates .. the tx fees are burned and not payed any longer .. so there is no need to distinguish between minimum fee and recommended fee ..
worth a discussion .. could you open up a new thread for that and ask the same question to the general public?

I'm voting for methodx because he's a marketer that explains his techniques and reasoning, and he delivers!
-
I also voted for marketing.methodx
He has some great idea's but more importantly he is actually making things happen NOW.
-
+5% why not :D
-
I also voted for marketing.methodx.
So far he's the only one who has offered a solid plan for marketing we can do now, before version 1.0 is launched, as well as after. The talk happening on the marketing forum is very encouraging.
-
Talks the talk. Walks the walk.
Voted.

Vote for you as well as for the other 2 (svk and toast) 100% pay delegates... as expected my stake did not make any of them active delegate but I do hope it helps.

Every amount counts Tony. Thank you everyone for the support, confidence and trust!
-
Voted for marketing.methodx because of methodx's tenacity for marketing, his efforts to bootstrap nullstreet.com, and his leadership, which is helping grow the bitshares marketing campaign, and that is before mentioning he is backed by an information technology guru, Riverhead, who also maintains his own delegate backbone.riverhead

Everyone please vote for backbone.riverhead - his IT delegate is now live and set at 10% pay. He will be providing extremely valuable security services to fellow delegates.

Does he advertise it somewhere? We should keep the quality of delegate campaigns asa high as posssible. As much transparency and information as possible is needed!
