General Discussion / Re: API Servers for Wallet
« on: February 09, 2016, 08:56:16 am »
I have set up a wallet/faucet server with ssl. it is at dele-puppy.com  It is currently usable.  Please feel free to test.

I will still need to set up automatic renewal of my ssl certificates, and change the account the wallet is pulling from, but it can be used now.

I set this wallet/faucet up more as a learning experience than anything else, but if there is a need for it, I can keep it up and updated.

Please let me know if anything is not working as intended.  It is running todays wallet upgrade.
Thanks for the contribution.
So full URL is wss://dele-puppy.com/ws ?

//Update: it works for me.

//Update 2: pull request submitted https://github.com/cryptonomex/graphene-ui/pull/729

May I suggest you amend the roadmap to include some time post-vote to:
  • Develops the code
  • Test code on the test net
  • Solicate active witness intended [adoption | rejection]
  • Allow stakeholders 14 days to vote a witness set matching their intended network direction
  • Hard fork block (if then active witness set is running revised code base).
Although this proposal is largely a set of parameter changes impacting fees, market order mechanics may be impacted thus the potential to change resource requirements of network nodes. These impacts must be considered and compensated to ensure future success.

Respectfully,
Fox

[edit: formatting]
This fee schedule change doesn't require a hard fork, so nothing to do with witnesses.
If we can't reach a consensus this time, no need to think further.

Technical Support / Re: Vesting Balances in Bitshares2 light client

There is a "vesting balance" link below "deposit/withdraw".

I for example, do not have the active key of dele-puppy loaded into any wallets.
I think you mean owner key.

I think I should translate it Chinese.. or ask someone to do it.

//Update:
Due to the new year holidays, Chinese people would be busying visiting families and/or traveling these days (1-3 weeks). It's likely that most people will go to places where is no good Internet connection. And most people may have no much time to spend on BitShares. So I suggest that we postpone the deadline of decision making (read: voting) and give more time to Chinese community. Thanks.

What would you recommend? An additional week perhaps? So 14 days for discussion and feedback instead of 7?
Yes I think that's better.

By the way, I saw "a low 0.1% trading fee for committee owned assets such as bitUSD" in the non-tech summary, but haven't found related command/code in the technical summary. Am I missing something?

2962
This is a fundamental question, and one I would normally go to the "owner's manual" to get a definitive answer about. How is the design supposed to work? Unfortunately no such "manual" exists that I know of.
Here is the manual: http://docs.bitshares.eu/bitshares/user/account-permissions.html

Thus SOME fees are absolutely necessary. BM's proposal was to eliminate only TRANSFER fees, and similar low revenue producing fees like updating account info. What sounded like the aforementioned politician was the omission of where funds come from to pay expenses. Would the remaining fees need to be raised? Which fees could be eliminated and which must remain? The analysis to determine how zero-cost transfer fees could be accomplished without increasing dilution and covering expenses must be done, and until I see those numbers I am very bearish on this.
Please check this thread: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,21368.0.html

No fee is nice. Who will pay to witnesses? Should these bastards work for free?
No, me as one of the bastards don't want to work for free.

um , dude, have you not seen the number of fees in BTS?  This ain't bitcoin, if you had not noticed.  Our fee structure is anything but simple.

blah blah blah
Sorry dude, TL;DR.

I think I've spent much more time than you on the fee structure  ;) If you want to educate me, please make it short  8)

Thank you for replied to my post anyway.

Too bad a lot of committee members want to destroy the referral program.
that is simply not true and you should know it better

Thanks Dad.

I didn't say all the committe members want to, but bitcrab and many of the chinese members have advocated eliminating the referral programs.
Sounds like you know everything.

Currently, in the committee, there are 3 Chinese members: bitcrab, baozi(alt) and abit(me).
* bitcrab is somehow against applying referral program to China market.
* alt/baozi seems to be neutral to the referral program
* I tend to not remove the referral program.

harvey is ever in the committee and hasn't made any voice.

//Edit:
just noticed that k1 is voted into the committee, who is also Chinese. His ID on bitsharestalk is @BTSdac .
Don't know what's his opinion though.

General Discussion / Re: Appearance of Deflation vs No Dilution
« on: February 08, 2016, 09:06:12 pm »
i am not sure if we want to do this, but i also don't like the discussions and threads about dilution.

but i think it would be wrong to add it on coinmarketcap. with the same agrument bitcoin could say we have to change the numbers also.

makes no sense to report the shares als "availabel" if you can not sell them. the same problem exists with the vesting shares.

The difference between Bitshares and Bitcoin here is that their supply is locked up with POW. They are unlocking them literally as fast as humanly possible. Our supply could be released tomorrow with enough votes.

i thought we have a limit of 400.000 BTS? or can this also be changed? if this is, i didnt have the right information and the available shares should be adjusted on CMC.
If enough share holders agree, we can easily change that 400K BTS per day limitation. Even possible a hard fork to change the 3.7BB limitation. IMO it's no need to discuss right now at all.
The BTS asset is owned by the null-account for a reason
We're able to make a hard fork and change it. Easily.
