General Discussion / Re: Prediction Markets now available in GUI
« on: January 22, 2016, 03:35:31 am »
This is revolutionary.

One question. From the docs:

Quote
Since PM-Assets can technically be pegged by any other asset, you may need to pay USD (or anything else) instead of BTS.
However, the asset is still backed by BTS, correct? So, in a rising BTS market, winners stand to gain more than they would in a falling BTS market?

272
It depends. Who exactly would the feature kill?  :P

273
Exactly. I would 100% unequivocally buy 1 Nubit before buying 1 bitUSD, because it is way more likely that there will be someone to buy it back close to parity whenever I happened to want to sell it.
@CoinHoarder Are you aware of the Forced Settlement feature inside Bitshares? It allows the holder of a smartcoin like BitUSD to convert back to BTS at 99% of the price feed.

I'm interested to hear what @bytemaster thinks of the idea of committee-owned short sales at some fixed percentage above the price feed.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: *CI/UI/UX Design / Web Development - cass
« on: January 09, 2016, 06:26:18 pm »
From http://cryptofresh.com/workers I see:

Cass proposed worker has 97,314,982 votes

refund400k worker, the lowest green listing in Active Workers, has 156,865,408 votes

Does this mean that Cass need another 60M or so votes to be activated?

I think this is a fascinating idea that should be explored further.

@CoinGame I'm really surprised, too. This community's tone towards NuBits has made a complete reversal in the past year.

I miss @tonyk hating on me because my first post was in a NuBits thread. :P

Good times.

After all the controversy and debate, I just want to say that I'm in favor of this final plan. Good work, everyone.

I first posted this back on 12-9-2015 and I still can not transfer funds from this account in BTS 2.0
Oh, don't worry. Bytemaster says that the inability to transfer funds is not a violation of property rights. See http://bytemaster.github.io/update/2015/12/28/BitShares-Vision/

(I'm only joking.)

General Discussion / Re: 2016 Vision Blog Post

From the blog post:

While no one likes to have their account frozen in part or in full this action does not constitute a violation of property rights

Would you say that USD freezes and seizures are also not a violation of property rights? That claim seems bogus to me.

EDIT: Reading closer, I see that you're saying a majority can freeze an account. But this isn't a population majority, it's a wealth majority. Are those equivalent to you?

General Discussion / Re: The 0.13% BTS Attack
« on: December 23, 2015, 07:22:40 am »
As a proxy offer to pay 1% interest per month to accounts that proxy their stake to you. That would be a lucrative 12%+ p.a
But when the accounts see that you are attacking the network, they would pull their support and elect honest witnesses (maybe).

The video says you can trade assets and stay anonymous, but how is that possible? I thought that stealth accounts could not place trades.

Is there another kind of anonymity in OpenLedger? Even the usernames associated with individual trade orders are public. See http://cryptofresh.com/a/USD

What is your definition of anonymous? All trades on OpenLedger is what it claims it is, an open book, but any users trading on the platform decide whether they want to tell their name or not, they are anonymous untill they get whitelisted on platform and enabled to trade with fiat achived via coming gateway on USD, EUR and CNY.
I see. Thanks for explaining.

There is a special account "null-account" whose permissions are set such that "no one" has control.
You mean this account? https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/account/null-account/overview

How did an account with no permissions manage to update the BRICS asset?

I reject the idea that having hurt no one, where no individual can make a claim of damages against me, that I may be subject to the violent coercive aggression of a state or government.
So you support drunk drivers, as long as they don't hurt anyone? I think that taking risks with other people's lives is undesirable for society.
