General Discussion / Re: Good idea, but bad executor, BTSX is dying
« on: August 29, 2014, 07:32:39 pm »
DAC Sun Limited took our beta toolkit and released it as early as humanly possible.  As a result it crashes and hasn't been throughly tested.

That said, BTSX is up and trading and once it stabilizes then the price will start to rise again.

I for one am relieved that the price has fallen because the code is not ready for those higher valuations.

Bytemaster, what the hell is wrong with you?  Anyone with half a brain can code up a bug free decentralized bank in their spare time.  ;)

Thanks anyway, but I figured it out.  I had to unlock my wallet and import the private keys again.  Jeez, I asked like 5 times in the Bitcointalk thread and Freetrade couldn't tell me this.

I'd shutdown the client, rename your wallet.dat to wallet.dat.lts and then copy/paste your PTS wallet.dat in there and run the client. Then see what you see for balance and under transactions. I'm about to build the Lotto wallet and I'll try the same thing.

Can I do the same with my Electrum wallet? Most of my AGS is in there.

If you have your wallet.dat from your Bitshares-PTS you're all good. Just replace the wallet.dat file in the LottoShares directory with your PTS wallet and it should all come in.  Check the receiving tab though and you'll find that PTS isn't mature yet so they won't count towards your balance.

I used my LottoShares wallet.dat saved file.  That won't work?

If you've already imported the private keys it should work fine. Did you look under the Transactions tab?

I did import my private keys when it first launched.  There is nothing under the transactions tab.

LottoShares / Please Help Recover My LottoShares Wallet (Resolved)

Hi All,

I had to get my Mac repaired because it crashed.  I was able to recover all my coins using my saved wallet.dat files except for Lottoshares.  It still comes up with 0 LTS no matter what I do.  Do I need to reenter my private keys?  Please help.  Thanks.

General Discussion / Re: I think Delegates Need to Do This
« on: August 27, 2014, 05:18:38 pm »
I didn't mean to suggest you were a super rich elite who is sitting on your arses doing nothing, so I'm sorry if that's how it came across. I just saw someone else post that delegates were making something like $125 per month before BitAsset trading even started. Also if delegates are keeping all the money and not spending it on doing things to help Bitshares, then I don't think many people will choose to get involved in a system like that over something which shares the money out to everyone who has coins (ala NXT) or anyone who sets up a node (ala Crypti), because if its a choice between me having money and someone else having money, and everything else is equal, I'm always going to choose to have the money myself.

Yeah, you are who I thought you were.

Bitshares does share the money out to everyone.  As the Bitshares supply lowers, your % of the total outstanding shares increases.  Check the daily burn stat.

General Discussion / Re: Where have all the bids gone?

They can also short below price X but it is not valid unless the exchange rate drops.
to clarify by "not valid" I mean these shorts do not appear on the standard order book and can not be matched with buy orders for bitUSD.

So 2 willing consenting parties involved. 1 wants to take the risk of a short below standard market rates.  The other wants to buy.    All participants are acting from their own information, their own judgements of profitability etc.  I don't see the problem.

If shorting below standard USD market rate is a bad idea, then these actors will pay the price.

I don't think the market should be subject to the 'desires' that only these traders are allowed to trade and only at this price.  The market should be subject to the resulting inclination of all participants to "put their money where there mouth is" making there own decisions and paying the price for bad, uninformed ones.

If the market peg holds 10% below the standard, there is a reason for that.  Unless your *removing* barriers to free participation, it should not be meddled with.

Shorting below market rates is not a free ride, and trading at all on this new market carries great risk.  It will take some time for a more clear and distinguished consensus about where bitUSD should be valued to emerge.  I personally think as the tree and it branches grow the price will tend to a tighter range around the standard USD market and I will place my bets accordingly.  If you feel otherwise, you know what to do.

General Discussion / Re: Why is Bitsharesx dropping like a rock?

Yeah well, a 67btc sell wall just got destroyed.

Arbitrage is already getting tighter.  Stop jumping the gun.  It's working.

Will Bitsharesx drop down into nothingness like how it's been for months since the launch?

Just when I thought this forum was troll free.  Welcome! ;D

Arbitrage should bring everything in line. If you can add features to eliminate arbitrage then the market will work out the peg. Ideally there shouldn't be any arbitrage since this is a sign of iliquidity and inefficiency

It's a new market, give it time.  Arbitrage is eliminated by too many market participants competing to profit from the opportunity.  As the market becomes more efficient the arb opportunity is eliminated.  Make sure you include transaction fees in your arbitrage calculation.

44
I think we need to give the market time to get settled in.  Arb will bring everything in line.  I think.  :-\

This isn't really on topic but this is something I've been thinking about.  One thing to be mindful of is to market without using the word "crypto".  The scammy side of crypto looks a lot like unregulated wall street.  Scams galore.  Just look at the alt-coin announcement page of Bitcointalk to see what I mean.  Let's make sure we separate Bitshares from alt-coins as much as possible.  The words "crypto" and "alt-coin" are becoming toxic.

Sorry, back on topic.
