AFAIK The moment you sent a transaction from one address to another, the whole network "knows" that the funds now belong to the new address. The wallet.dat just proves that this specific address is yours to claim the funds, there is no need for the wallet to synchronize, as long as you control your wallet file(wallet.dat) the funds are yours. Just remember to make a new backup of your wallet.dat from time to time if you have lots of incoming transactions in your wallet, every backup wallet can "restore" up to 100 incoming transactions, so if you made a backup today and by the end of month you had more than 100 incoming transactions, your backup wallet will be able to restore only the first 100. (thats what was happening with bitcoin, I'm not 100% sure if this also aplies to PTS)
As long as you have the wallet.dat file, your funds are safe... just make some backups of your wallet in case something goes wrong...You can try this node if you have't tried it yet, in my case it helped me synch my wallet yesterday.addnode cryptoseed.cloudapp.net addorgo to the properties of the shortcut that starts your bitshares wallet and edit the "target" field"(or something like that)bitshares.exe" -connect=cryptoseed.cloudapp.net:80
Sorry to sound naive, but i added all of the nodes in this thread and i'm still not in sync. After I downloaded the wallet, I didn't realize it wasn't in sync and withdrew my funds to my Bitshares-PTS address. They're now out of my bter account but obviously not showing in my wallet since it's out of sync.Have I lost these forever? That would suck pretty bad.

We tested last couple of nights. The correction I was giving to fix this problem failed after a pathetic few minutes of having 1 active connection. That was officially strike two. We look at the complaints by other users and decide if they merit a start at strike one and they did. You were warned very clearly that this is a serious matter and you are being given a random consumer inspection. We see other people still having the same problem. Last chance to save Protoshares/Bitshares reputation. How do people clearly fix this problem at connect? The pattern here is that you insider group is mining while others are delayed after your claims of being fair to enrich yourselves.... We will try to stop that.
forestearth, where was the wallet.dat file located? I cannot find it on my pc. I've followed every step typing in tens of seed ip adresses to removing my old wallet and installing the new one provided.
New wallet is synching finally, but mining options are removed. Are people to assume that the mining is built in now and automatic?? If so, why take away the 1, 2, or 3 thread option from people? Please explain. We would like the file for version 1 of the wallet so we can compare all three versions for the sake of transparency. Thank you.

We have a programmer on staff otherwise no way I would have known that --causing more delays delays delays. It does not go away even if you uninstall the original software and will prevent new wallet from opening. If we delete the current wallet.dat file, won't we lose all of the protoshares that were in it?
