Explain in more details what is the plan ..

I think this is the deal right now. I'm sure the devs are working hard but after the announcement I feel we're drifting from week to week without any idea on specifically when we will go live. It simply doesn't make any sense that we can be so close yet there is no countdown or release date.

I see other people are saying similar things and think it's about time we put a release date out there. If there is a specific reason why this can't be done then I would like to hear it.

How is the discussions going with this bank? Are they still ongoing? Are they progressing and promising? Any other valuable partnership discussions he would care to comment on?

48
Could Bbytemaster comment if there is an ETA of 2.0 and shouldn't there be more communication on this with the community if it is only 1-8 weeks away from release?

As a newbie maybe I am missing something. However, I don't understand why there doesn't seem to be timeline/countdown to do live. I would think if we're only couple of months away from launch, it shouldn't be difficult to put an ETA on it.
Just asking :)

Is there any chance of some screenshots or wire frames of how th web interface will look?
Is it still planned to be modular so beginner and advanced users can have a different look and fel?

Thx
It's old layout I think but it still looks like this

Thanks clayop.
Do you know if the devs are still planning to have the interface be modular so beginner and advanced users can have a different look?

I think they are planning web-based wallet, which embraces advanced and basic users and light wallet, which has basic functionalities for beginners.

Thank you. Thats good news for someone who is not a trader. I need to use something that easy to navigate and intuitive.

In general take any estimate a dev tells you in software world and multiply it by 2

But thats the nature of the beast. Theres always bugs and issues that come up and this isnt unique to bitshares. Maidsafe and Ethereum are prime examples.

However, i do think we should do a better job of setting expectations with estimated dates. If you set the expectation something will be out this week and dont deliver, you loose more  and more credibility. Better to have not said anything at all.

I wish had a targeted go-live date for the users, the market and partners to look towards.

All that said, its easy to suggest from the sidelines. We know the devs are working hard creating something great. We're all a little eager i guess.

i agree with the core dev team's focus on infrastructure; getting the system right is critical. wallets and other user apps should come from new entrants to our system who find sufficient value in the infrastructure to start designing their own businesses off of it.

THIS ^.  getting the system right is critical.

One of the biggest issues i see is surrounds expectation. In the last 2 mumbles BM has said testnet will be available in the coming days and nothing has been released. I think this just fuels speculation and disappointment if nothing appears. My opinion is I think we need a target go-live date for people to focus on; but we have to meet it.

Well done BM, good effort to bring that together.

There is clearly a lot being done behind the scenes.  +5% +5%

Looking forward to 2.0 and getting those leaflets out in Greece.

That's great news. Thanks for sharing.

Is that max wright second from the right? I thought he was australian.

Looks nice.

But to the untrained it still looks confusing. BM mentioned in one mumble that it would be modular to allow people to have it set up differently. When you look at BitReserve its easy and obvious if you want to buy or sell Oil, even to someone who doesnt know what shorting is. If you are not familiar with trading it needs to be as intuitive as what bitreserve have.

I think we should make this screen to interpret as possible.

As i understand it, this sounds like a use case for bitassets - taking the properties of bitcoin and linking it to another asset, like rubles.

Russian President Vladimir Putin Addresses Digital Currency

Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued his first remarks on bitcoin and digital currencies in an educational forum broadcast on domestic TV network Russia 24.

Local news sources including Gazeta, state-operated news agency RIA and TASS are reporting Putin indicated his belief that the Bank of Russia, the country's central bank, has so far taken a reasonable stance on the technology by exploring, not rejecting, its applications.

Further, he suggested that while he considered the use of digital currency as money to be perhaps problematic, the technology could be best considered as a novel way to manage or calculate transactions.

"[Bitcoins] are backed by nothing. This money [is backed by nothing], that's the point, this is the major problem. They are not really linked to anything and backed by nothing," Putin said. "However as an accounting unit, these 'coins' or whatever are they called, they can be used, and their adoption becomes wider and wider. As some kind of unit in some account, probably, it's possible."

Putin continued:

"We do not reject anything, but there are serious, really fundamental issues related to its wider usage, at least, today."

A spokesperson for the president later specified in a separate announcement that he was speaking broadly about digital currency technology, not specifically bitcoin.

"It's the biggest sign of bitcoin legality now in Russia," ICBIT Trading CEO Aleksey Bragin told CoinDesk. "It was not forbidden before, but it was impossible to operate any bitcoin business in Russia (no bank accounts, to start with), and mining was always a gray area."

Other members of the local community saw it as a similarly positive step for a country that has long had one of the most reactionary stances to the technology.

"While Mr Putin didn't say anything concrete about bitcoin legislation in Russia, it's definitely a good sign that our government doesn't want to prohibit something before getting a better insight in the field," Indacoin CEO Stanislav Kosorukov said.

Ivan Tikhonov of Russian-language bitcoin news source BTCsec added his belief that the statements did much to advance the conversation regarding whether their is government support for the technology.

"One thing is certain, no one talked about the fact that bitcoin is prohibited or required to be prohibited," he added.

The announcement follows reports that the country's lawmakers had updated a draft bill aimed at outlawing the use of digital currencies as monetary surrogates.

CoinDesk is monitoring this developing story.
