I would buy a casino, and build my own ad network... this way every advertising dollar I put out will come right back to me... each dollar can be spun several times through the ad network and then spun on the machines.
The other thing is aMUSEing as it is, it need not to be rushed any where, before business model is somewhat defined.
Our product should be no different than a casino as far as its business potential. Basically, the reason to run an ad is if you believe your product/service is built well to make money. You advertise it to bring in people/users/customers (or, in the case of a casino, suckers) and that raises your revenue. My point is that if we believe in our product, every one of us should be advertising it. There are two reasons not to do so: (1) If we believe it's "not quite there yet", so we're waiting for something to change, or (2) If we lack proper incentives to buy such ads on our own dime.
I think this is an important analysis. If the answer is (1), then what are you waiting for? A few more GUI tweaks? If the answer is (2), then what could we do to share the cost of ads, to the point where it makes financial sense for us to spend money on advertising with the promise of making more from (a) referral income, (b) appreciation in the BitShares market cap price, or (c) a combination of both? Is the referral income inadequate for this?
If it makes more sense to split ads or have a cooperative get funded (UIA/IOU?) , run ads, and distribute the referral income, then let's think about doing this.
