Not ripple.

Probably an extension of the pay-by-phone number thingy (by Monitise, I think), which someone told me was (like contactless payments) also limited to something like £50..

Signed up for slack. Doesn't recognise my email address.. None of that makes sense.

But yes, let's have a wikipedia page for bitshares! Absence is madness.

Stings brutally.

But savers haven't paid everyone else's debt just yet; there's still time to refrain from alcoholism, and to stash something harder than fiat.

General Discussion / Re: Invasion of the bitAsset

I find it kindof silly that for Bitshares, CMC has BTS as a currency and bitUSD/bitCNY/etc as assets.

But for Nushares, CMC has NSR as an asset and Nubits as a currency.

One of those should be the oher way around.

What's silly is that CMC still distinguishes between "Currencies" and "Assets" (when in the cryptoworld they are pretty arbitrary and meaningless terms). I am glad that they now default the home page to "All" at least.

This! Neither term is meaningless but the distinction is fuzzy indeed.

On Yosemite, if I left-click on Bitshares client ‘Mavericks’ here: https://bitshares.org/resources/downloads - I get no DL. I pass straight to thankyou without collecting DMG.

Projected would be nice, as well.

Traditional crypto exchange password credentials can also be poached.

If you have a recent wallet export / backup (or two),

I find the best thing to do is to ensure you are using the newest version of the client (do not click that old superseded BitsharesX dock item). Then, trash (or preferably move) the entirety of user/Library/Application Support/Bitshares . Restart Bitshares, and import your wallet back up.

It works...

Technical Support / Console 'undefined' after rpc_start_server
« on: November 25, 2014, 09:54:52 pm »
I'm trying to set a bot to work on bitshares. I'm confused about a number of issues therein, but one thing that seems especially strange:

After unlocking my full GUI version of the Bitshares client, I am using rpc_set_username / rpc_set_password and rpc_start_server XXXX.

Thereafter, any further commands entered into the client console will return 'undefined' .

I suspect this is my key problem because when I try to make a cURL call, I am getting 'curl: (52) Empty reply from server'.

I'm using Mac.

Any suggestions would be sincerely appreciated!

Technical Support / Re: Interest rate

Surely,

if the average interest rate being paid is much in excess of 1%, then the average interest rate being received by bitAsset longs is much in excess of 1%.

And surely it is too early to say where these bitAsset yields will settle.

General Discussion / Re: Adding Collateral to Shorts?
« on: November 17, 2014, 12:55:00 am »
I might be wrong, according to everything I don't understand about this:

"The Second attempt (prior to 0.4.20) has shorts bid up collateral, but
this provides less and less benefit to the network as prices go higher... i.e.:
10x collateral only provides 5% more downward protection than 5x collateral."

Is that right? I'm thinking in terms of forced cover cascades of manipulative origin.

General Discussion / Re: About short covering
« on: November 16, 2014, 05:24:43 pm »
As in, if the account has non-bts funds of the same denomination as the short?

That would seem more sensible than an applicable strategy involving simultaneous short/long exposure in the same bitAsset, as much as everybody does it. I mean, discounting the bitAsset yield, and USD hyperinflation, then there are surely ways to achieve the same net exposure using less capital.

Every bull should volunteer additional capital to their shorts. They're ridiculously cheap, after all.

I reckon deleveraging results in them being harder systemic meal for whale sharks. Suggest that there are some GUI-defaults dictating too much in the way of market dynamics atm.
