Title: 2.0 not opening up Java error Uncaught Exception: Syntax Error: Unexpected token
Post by: Ray on December 10, 2015, 06:07:13 pm
Having trouble with my bitshares wallet 2.0

Can't open it today. Had trouble downloading the blockchain yesterday. Took a few tries to get my bitshare amounts to show. But today, I can't even open it.

I had the earlier version but never bought any bitshares until downloading the new 2.0 version.

Help...

Please provide us some more details.
Are you using website, light wallet or full node client?

I am using BitShares2-light. Have not signed up for the web based wallet. I did have it working and traded peercoin for 294000 bitshares. I signed up for the lifetime membership.

I show two folders for Bitshares in the AppData/Roaming folder.

One is just named Bitshares and it has a file inside named wallets.

Second is the Bitshares2-light and it has no file inside named wallet.

I have tried to open the bitshares2-light wallet and it says, "

Java Script error occured in the main process.
Uncaught Exception:
Syntax Error: Unexpected token

Thanks for the help.

I've never seen this issue before, but I'm using Mac. Anybody else else experience a similar problem?
@Ray, did you create any backup by a chance? If you did, you can import it to web wallet here https://bitshares.openledger.info

Yes, I have backup.

I would rather stay with the independent wallet.

This is frustrating. I would like to be trading but can't.

I saved my wallet and the whole installed files of the Bitshares 2.0 on a flash drive.

Then I uninstalled Bitshares 2.0 and tried to re install from a fresh download.

Now I can't install the new download of Bitshares 2.0 ... it says for this reason...

Error opening file for writing.
C:\Program Files (x86)\BitShares2-light\BitShares2-light.exe
Click Abort to stop the installation
Retry to try again, or
Ignore to skip this file

I am using Windows 7

I have my wallet data file.

What is the problem here?

Error opening file for writing.
C:\Program Files (x86)\BitShares2-light\BitShares2-light.exe

Maybe you have BitShares app running in a background? Look in the process explorer.
Or you may need to administrator's privileges to remove files in C:\Program Files (x86)\ , in this case try to run setup as Administrator (right click on setup and select run as Administrator)

Got it backup and running. Went through 0.9.3c version to get my account transferred to 2.0.

The weird thing is that I did not do this when I uploaded 2.0 and made trades of peercoin for bitshares on shapeshift. I don't know exactly what I did, but messing with it enough did the trick. I see my bitshares in my account.

Thanks for your help!
