I like this idea.

Just a few things to consider... transparency is a no brainer.. efficiently executing on how that is delivered without overburdening will take some finesse.

Yes, we are still evolving the best mechanisms for efficient transparency.  crypto_prometheus is spearheading the next newsletter, out on the 1st with a whole range of delegate updates included.  So stay tuned for that and let's continue discussing the preferred methods for keeping our community informed!

...the famous drug showed up on my doorstep.

Which dark market did you use? Do they accept BitUSD??
I've thought about this. In the end would it be better or worse for us, if we approached darkmarkets to use bitAssets?

Worse.  IMHO.  That being said, LSD and other sacred medicines are indispensable allys in this life, and the war on drugs is an atrocious sham.  That also bring said.  Let's not provide undue invitations to the jackals who feast upon fear and sensation, by fixing them any such tasty bites.

This has been a message of the choose your battles wisely council.

Because you are now employed by the bitshares blockchain would you consider making the your check out code open source?

I am sure you will agree that doing this will only help to further adoption for bitshares as a whole, not to mention it keeps in line with bitshares open source nature.

Actually, anyone producing code *PAID FOR* by the blockchain needs to open source it or they don't get my vote.

Yes yes yes 100 times yes, we are going to open source it!  :D  I think Tim (roadscape) was just waiting to put some things in order with the code before doing so.

We both worked through the holidays to get everything developed and up and functioning, and just recently took a moments rest with our respective families.  About to spring back into action!

We just earned back our 'first' 100% delegate registration fee on media.bitscape.

provisional.bitscape is not yet voted in, so you could say that we are currently, essentially two 50% paid delegates with weeks of work and money pre-loaded into this project.

We still need your votes.  We're not stopping anytime soon!
Progress report coming soon with the monthly newsletter.

Onward!   :D

Era Of Shattered Illusions

In any contest of strength and will,
he who knows himself best,
he who sheds all illusion,

Wonderful!

I hate to double post this image, but I just wanted to share this here as well!  :)

I took this photo in the Pacific ocean, and gladly offer it up in service to inspiration!

I'm curious what quotes you all might add to it... :)

Here's one:

Can you sell BitShares hoodies as well?

Definitely!  That's next on my clothing item list, as I really really want one for myself too.

Every T-Shirt we sell we get that much closer to hoodies and stickers and all manner of fun and useful stuff.

which makes me wonder, do we have any sense of the gender 'balance' among the BitShares community thus far?  Curious.

I've noticed precisely four other female identities on the forum that had posted only a few (or less) times.   :-[
I also recall a post where someone wrote about having advised the female friends he'd introduced to bishares to conceal their gender on the forum .   :-\

On a brighter note, how are the cryptofresh sales coming along?

Slow but steady... Everyone in the US who ordered should now have received their shirts!

We welcome photos of you representing BitShares in your new T-Shirts!

Hopefully everyone who hasn't ordered yet will soon be getting envious, and we'll see some more orders. ;)

I would think that everyone trying to make a BitShares Meetup showing in english speaking regions would be wanting to gear up!

If you want to order T-Shirts in quantity just PM me and I'll generate an order and shipping quote for you manually until we get the quantity / shipping logic worked out.

More products in the pipeline!

Technical Support / Re: robohash discrepancies

Thanks to the crack BTS detective team for getting to the bottom of this and pushing updates / clearing confusion. Especially happy it wasn't just me! :)

I agree there are perhaps better solutions, but for now we're on the Robohash / SafeBot tip, so good to keep it working as intended.

Technical Support / robohash discrepancies
« on: January 27, 2015, 03:28:05 am »
I'm having disagreement between my wallet, bitsharesblocks, and the robohash.org website...
Some robohashes in my wallet are different than they used to be, and some are the same.
Many disagree with the robohash.org website altogether. I'm running this wallet on v0.5.3

What gives?

Here is one example:

In this case, the bottom one from bitsharesblocks is most familiar and my wallet displays one i've never before seen.

I no like.

General Discussion / Re: Please Consider Voting for fuzzy.beyondbitcoin

I couldn't agree with you more fuzzy!  I so appreciate your voice and couldn't imagine taking this journey without you.

We can coordinate with one another.  It wasn't so long ago in the BitShares collective consciousness that the impetus for widespread collaboration even emerged! through the >3% delegate coming into existence we have a much needed capacity to grow stronger as a working team, as we emerge into the 'wild', as it were, of this new frontier we are moving into.

It takes a long time to turn a ship, and that only requires one person and a solid rudder. (hydraulics are useful too sometimes!)  This crew has made a few epic course corrections since a glimmer in the eye became a nugget of gold, forged in the hearts and minds of the intrepid i3.  As Bytemaster alluded to in the last mumble session, small is agile, big is mighty, but slow.

*What?  Stan gets rocket metaphors, so I call ships.. ;)

You're right.  You have always selflessly offered up Beyond Bitcoin to community involvement, and I sense you've had a lot of time to think about the untold many means of organization between the 'nodes' of this net we are weaving through our very existence and participation.

Honestly what impressed me most about this community before I was really 'all in', was its ability to adapt to changing circumstances and new reckonings on the fly.  We have a tremendous capacity in this regard and I think the ship (or fleet of ships) are arriving at a really ideal heading for the waters we travel.  A talented, and somewhat motley crew (my favorite kind) is coming together in a really organic and beautiful fashion.  This can sometimes be painful but also yield some amazing results!

From what I can tell of you so far fuzz, you're a rather humble soul, and humble as you are --- we will be your mirror, to let you know you have been a massive force in holding space for this community, in which many have gathered.
Sometimes people just take space for granted, while remaining fixated on the objects within.  Keep advancing the torch!  There was just some trouble about being too far ahead of your time, but the rest of us are catching up.  Imagine what BM goes through.

I support your delegate, and I'll offer help with video production once we are up and running on that front here!

I see us building an open-source diaspora-like social web for delegates to communicate and coordinate their actions so as to tap into the synergy inherent the 'edges' of our crew.  I know you took a crack at this one already!  We are evolving, and soon we shall emerge as a coherent entity with a force not seen in a long long while.

Novena is awesome! Just going to drop this here: http://www.bunniestudios.com/

Maybe we can get bunnie to colab on this? I have no contacts personally just like to read about OS hardware stuff once in a while.  8)

That would be pretty epic!  Dawn may have all the resources, logistics and talent they currently need to execute such a plan.  However, bunniestudios also worked out a massively elegant supply chain by the sound of it, and are uniquely suited to peer review of such technology, so possibly another reason to connect with them.  Not my area of expertise though, so... I leave this to those with the bravery of metal and code.

Also, I would love to see a hardware solution for merchants to accept BitAssets!

If we still talking about working with any card processors, can we patch together a working POS system?
Something which allows people be able to 'charge' their own cards from a mobile wallet on their smart phone, a la Square, and be able to go out and spend those funds in their community where BitAssets are accepted.

This would be massively helpful in terms of grassroots adoption imo.
If there were a solution like this then we could raise a small army to work on merchant adoption with the knowledge that a solid system was in place to provide them with the tools they need.  I realize this is a huge undertaking and beyond hardware alone.

I suppose ElMato would be the one to work with on this once the mobile wallet is stable.
