What would be a good song for BitShares?

Just opinions at this point...but there is a reason for asking.

Yeah! that gets my vote  8) It's been decades since I've seen that vid.

It is absolutely perfect - virtual reality, theme about money, working for nothing (bankers), chicks for free (we'll see)

That was one of the early music videos, way ahead of it's time. The group Kansas was even earlier in music videos, one of the first even before or just as MTV got rolling.

The only drawback for this MFN song is it may not appeal to the younger demographic, but it will to those of older generations that have the big bucks (they've been at it longer, more credit, more financial clout).

Didn't care for the Led Zep Casmir remake, hard to understand words. I looked them up and don't see the connection really.

There will be plenty of these kinds of songs when Peertracks goes live.

Can't beat the sound and crazy great vocals of Freddy Mercury, but I'll stick with Dire's MFN to be more on point all around.

Great thread! I am wondering tho what the reason for asking is the OP mentioned...

Money for Nothing gets my vote. But enough about money; this thread needs some grittier stuff. How about the genuine revolution and social change that BitShares can bring? I believe that though BitShares will succeed beyond our wildest dreams, it won't be an easy ride to the top. And money is not everything.

So I'm going with U2's New Year's Day. Not a WORD in that song would be out of place in describing the BitShares revolution. It even talks about gold as the motivation for war.

http://youtu.be/O0IRY_eWuIw (http://youtu.be/O0IRY_eWuIw)

And while we're on gritty lyrics describing the world's delusions and solution, why not Where is The Love by Black Eyed Peas?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpYeekQkAdc (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpYeekQkAdc)

I'd also give serious consideration to using a talented indie band that crowdfunded its album online. Check out Elephant Revival. Sample this one in the background if you want people standing up to dance:

I have created my first "amateur vocals" for John Lennon's "Imagine".  Thank you Tonyk, for your choice.  It was my favorite from all of them. I hope I do it justice...

And I hope instrumentalists will help me add to it...and, of course, editors will polish (my mic isn't made for singing) :P

Oh Fuzzy, reading through this forum your posts in particular have rekindled my affection for the human race, but hearing your voice soar reignited it.      * You shine *     I rarely get inspired by doing cover songs, but I may have to give it a try.

In the meantime, here's a song called Threshold that my band recorded a few months ago.  For me it definitely relates to the spirit of this community, especially as I think of what I was so fired up about when I wrote the lyrics.

http://spiraloflife.net/site/over-it/ (http://spiraloflife.net/site/over-it/)

The threshold’s reached
The threshold’s breached
We’re through the other side

The dance with chance and circumstance
has left our minds revived.

There's also another track on the EP called Know What You Mean that we were in the midst of mixing soon after I joined the forum, and I have JoeyD and bits on this post https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=9718.msg129893#msg129893 to thank for leading me to the samples that were added to the song.

is this your stuff??!  This is some epic new age poetry!  Add in these instrumentals...I love it.

Do you happen to know why my voice seems so fuzzy when I have to put force behind it?  I am using a blue yeti and I have read it is a decent mic for vocals...but it seems to not do justice.  I used to sing in church choir and know what it is supposed to sound like, but this isn't quite it.

Not sure if it is the mic...the editing...or what.  But I know when I am singing that even though it is on the edge of the vocal range (Freddy is a badass) I can still hit the notes cleanly.  However when I relisten to it after some sleep and try to add in the music...it doesn't sound clean at all.  It is almost as if the mic is vibrating and creating a choppy feedback.

http://www.filedropper.com/decentralizedbandimaginecovermixedvocalsonly  this is a more accurate presentation of my voice as I do not need to reach into the range of Mercury (and amplify my voice to the level that feels like it almost shakes shit).  Not sure...

How do you sing through a pillow?

I asked my sound engineer about your yeti problem and he just puckered his face and said better to get a different mic and a "real" recording interface.

I'm of limited help when it comes to the technical aspects of recording, but can offer a few thoughts:  Generally you want to be 6" - 1' away from the mic.  The room you're recording in will make a huge difference.  Try to be in a smaller space with no sharp/pointy/bouncy edges.  Use carpets, hang blankets, etc.

When listening to your second recording I still hear a lot of distortion.  Your voice is lovely and needs a good setup to do it justice!

Poked about online and this yeti thread may be helpful:   http://recording.org/index.php?threads/blue-yeti-voice-not-clear.54607/ (http://recording.org/index.php?threads/blue-yeti-voice-not-clear.54607/)

If the yeti doesn't end up working for you and you decide to go with another mic/interface setup it'd be worth checking into used presonus or mo2u - good deals can often be found on those..

Welcome To The Blockchain

Toby this is great marketing material for the Bitshares/blockchain technology. We so need a version branded with BitShares instead of Bitcoin. Would this be at all possible? I reckon this has the potential to to go viral on Facebook -hopefully with the BitShares brand. It seems really sad that you've had less than 5k hits so far on YouTube for something so polished. If you need some compensation for a re-brand to BitShares then perhaps we could get a bounty together.

On audio equipment for those interested. If you're on a budget I can recommend Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, linux compatible too I think ;-), and an Audio Technica AT2020 mic. Really great sound on a budget. Don't get the USB version of the AT2020 it's not the same as having the XLR version running through a dedicated interface. If you don't want a condenser mic (more suitable for recording studio), then the Heil PR22 is a really good  stage mic.

I couldn't resist posting this here after today's mumble session where Fuzzy mentioned the phrase "shine a light into the dark"

Dustin is a friend of mine, I've thought about him as a natural fit for BitShares Music, and also as someone capable of knocking it out of the park with a song for us.. :)

Here's another keeper.
It's pretty big and uptempo, brace yourself and prepare to be surprised... can that be done?

I was just seeing a really sweet BitShares video in my mind to this tune... quick transitions, rhythmic power to the people motif, informative titles on the beat, whirling and celebratory, way of the future, people working together.

I want to reach out to Yarah about using this track for a sweet video, but first I want to run it by the local community of music heads and see what you all think about this track.  Anyone object to a friendly alliance with Miss Yarah Bravo?  She's independent and she's quite aligned with the BitShares vision.

Dig the lyrics.  Wisdom.

Serious deja vu while writing that last line, have we already been here? ;)

This one might be for a little later... like at a certain festival in the desert...

again, listen to the lyrics.

How much would he charge for us to be able to use his music in the beginnings/ends of our hangouts?

I don't know, I'll introduce myself and if she's interested in this project i think it's highly negotiable.  She's independent so it depends on her perspective.  Like any artist she may ask a fair price for her creations, but there's a lot of leeway here, and potential for alliance.  This is real hip hop after all, no strangers to the communities of liberation.

Word up to future artistcoin holders. ;)

haha, well to be fair you weren't entirely mistaken, as Yarah and DJ Vadim are fairly inseparable.  He holds down the beats, and she's more of the lyricist.   8)

Good music, I think it would really make the mumble sessions "pop" to have an upbeat intro / outro.

You've already got my vote fuz. The mumble sessions are very useful.

You're close! Position 103. I bet you could get the extra boost you need from publishing some feeds and your client version number.  8)

What would it take?

We need more content to put on social media.  A sweet rap would do the trick quite well.
