How do I work on windows ?

Its not out yet, you'll need to wait a day or 2 for the windows version.

I got it running on Ubuntu 13.0 its working smoothly now.

Thanks guys.

Will start adding more hashpower now to the pool for a few hours. Will go full load once the pool is stable and good to go.

Update:

Finding shares now, we should see a noticeable increase in hashpower in the next few days :D

Update:

Using a 32 core server, averaging about 1 share per core so around 30-40 shares/h.

This is my procedure
only if necessary "sudo apt-get install zip unzip"

wget http://mmc.xpool.xram.co/assets/files/memoryminer.zip

unzip memoryminer

./memoryminer -poolip=mmc.xpool.xram.co -poolport=1339 -pooluser=<address>

but error

Try this:

Not sure if this works on Linux but I use this for Ubuntu to install everything needed to mine with PTS and other coins also doing it for MMC

Quote
sudo apt-get -y install git build-essential htop libboost-dev libboost-system-dev libboost-filesystem-dev libboost-program-options-dev libboost-thread-dev libssl-dev libdb++-dev libminiupnpc-dev git

Quote
wget "http://mmc.xpool.xram.co/assets/files/memoryminer.tar.bz2"
bzip2 -d memoryminer.tar.bz2
tar xvf memoryminer.tar
cd memoryminer
cd src
make -f makefile.unix
./memoryminer -poolip=mmc.xpool.xram.co -poolport=1339 -pooluser=<your MMC wallet address> -genproclimit=<number of cpus>

That would be a good idea. Would this work with Ubuntu or only linux at the moment?

Would appreciate it if someone could post a quick tutorial on how to start mining, would like to add some hash power to the pool.

Thanks and great job!

MemoryCoin / Start wallet I keep getting this error.
« on: December 21, 2013, 11:35:29 pm »
Hey guys so I have no problems syncing my wallet but whenever I close the wallet and lets say a few hours later try opening it I get a message asking me to rebuild the blockchain. I click ok and it looks as if it was syncing again.

That happens almost everytime and if I keep the wallet opened it stops syncing after a while and I have to restart the wallet to get the latest updates.

Anyone know why?

Thanks.

Could someone give a brief explanation about how to use the stormcloud and dimension data trials?  I created servers on both but i can't figure out how to access any type of console or anything.  On the dimension one i had windows server running i think because I just used that with AWS and Azure to make things easier.

I never tried dimensions data, they kept asking for phone verification and apparently my line showing up as a prepaid line so I gave up on it.

But it shouldn't be any different from aws and azure. Try looking for the IP and windows login password of your server and use remote desktop connection from your PC to connect. You could check out the help section at dimension for info on how to connect.

I mined with Dimension.  After you create your servers you click on one of the VPN links in the upper right, login and follow the steps to install the Cisco AnyConnect client.  You establish a VPN connection with that using the same login/password for your account.  Then you connect to your server with start - run - mstsc.

One thing I noticed is I don't see anywhere in the account page confirming I have the $200 credit.   I put the code in when I signed up.  Does anyone know if the credit is supposed to show up?

I would just keep track of the total cost every day just to make sure you don't go over the 200$ credit. Try checking their terms and conditions of the free 200$ credit. They might be like Microsoft azure trial and just close everything down once the 200$ credit is used or like amazon aws and charge you once you exceed the 200$ credit.

MemoryCoin / Re: Pool: before we have proper pool let's start "small pools"
« on: December 21, 2013, 10:16:23 am »
How would this be a pool?

I thought using the same wallet on many computers mining does not mean it combines the hashpower but instead just sends the MMC mined to the same wallet.

Is that correct or am I missing something here?

PS. I tried it with 10 32 core servers from amazon giving around 90-100 Hpm and didn't seem to be combined otherwise I would of found more than 2 blocks in 12 hours of mining. (diff was low, that was right after the fork).

General Discussion / Decentralized exchange idea (Possible?)
« on: December 20, 2013, 09:54:43 am »
I was thinking about the purpose to why bitcoin and every other cryptocoin were created, simply to create a decentralized currency. Correct?
Basically a currency that has no central bank, no one entity in control of the currency, and completely anonymous.

I have no idea if someone already thought of this but it would sure be a good topic to discuss.

Being that cryptocurrency's main purpose is decentralization doesn't exchanges like mtgox, btc-e, cryptsy...etc defeat the purpose of decentralization?

So would it even be possible to create a decentralized exchange by taking lets say bitcoin and protoshare for example and, creating a single wallet that holds both coins. Then create a whole exchange system implemented into the wallet and people looking to buy/sell PTS for bitcoin would basically send their coins to their wallet. A buyer/seller would then set a asking/bidding price per PTS or bitcoin they are selling (they must have the required amount already in their wallet) and simply post it.

Would it be possible to kind of add the offers into the blockchain or something similar that way when someone downloads the wallet it would download the blockchain and the list of offers from other buyers/sellers. Basically creating a decentralized exchange that is not controlled by any single person or group. When someone decides to buy PTS with bitcoin they would simply click buy and a 2 way transaction would occur (the seller's coins are sent while the buyers coins are sent at the same time).  There's much more points to cover but just a rough idea on what I was thinking of.

What do you guys think? Would this be doable?

Sorry for the mistypes and any other errors.

As there's no exchange yet, and not everyone is able to use the spreadsheet on bitcointalk, I decided to offer escrow here.

There are three ways to place your offer:

1. post a reply on this thread
2. drop me a pm with topic [WTB]/[WTS] <amount of MMC> <BTC/MMC>
3. query me on irc #memorycoin@freenode

As we're approaching the holiday season I won't be available all the time, so don't panic if it takes a while.
For those who don't know me: I've been with PTS and this community since mining started, and helping out on irc quite often. Sometimes even with operator-privileges. No need to be afraid that I steal your coins :)
Fee is 2%, the first three trades are free.
Successful trades will be posted here without usernames.

Let's create a market :)

Maybe create a google docs to have it all organized?

I think sellers should set their prices instead of asking for offers just to get some kind of starting exchange rate going.

Marketplace / Re: [WTB] 25 PTS For $400 Amazon AWS EC2 Service Coupon
« on: December 19, 2013, 10:07:15 am »
You'll have to create 1 account per code, each account has to have real personal info and a valid credit card added. VCCs won't work.

If Amazon finds out they might charge you for the usage for breaking the terms and conditions.

Just a heads up.

@OP

With the risk involved and the fact you really need to create an account and get the code you should sell these 4 codes for cheaper.

In my opinion these aren't worth more than 5-10$ per code.

MemoryCoin / Re: Pool For MemoryCoin
« on: December 19, 2013, 09:31:20 am »
I was thinking if your mining with 10 PCs all having the same wallet on them. Would there be a way to somehow link these 10 PCs to combine their hashing power together so it would look as if it was 1 PC mining? Similar to a pool?

If so what would someone need?

I have no experience in the tech stuff but taking a look at the conf file used for mining.

If I change the "rpcallow=127.0.0.1" to my public IP on all of my 10 PCs would that even be an idea? So instead of using an external miner I would be using the wallet's miner pointing it to my computer at home being the server.

Stupid idea? I'm a total noob so hoping for an explantion to why that would not work.

Thanks.
