General Discussion / Re: BitShares Upgrade Announcements

BitShares 0.9.2 has been released: https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares/releases/tag/bts%2F0.9.2

This is a delegate-only required upgrade by block 2580000 (approximately 2015-05-19 17:00 UTC).

No other users are required to upgrade.

There is a "burn" operation you should be able to access in the GUI, if not take a look at the "wallet_burn" command.

213
2) Pick the oldest backup from ".backups/default"

I'm not sure if you meant this, I think you meant pick the newest backup.

What is the exact use-case you are considering? Is it not sufficient to receive a signed statement from a quorum of delegates for the particular data that you are interested in?

You can try reimport from a backup. They are located in "wallets/.backups" in the config folder (see http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/BitShares/Config)

Yes, can you try importing the most recent backup you can find and see if anything changes?

BitShares 0.9.1 has been released: https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares/releases/tag/bts%2F0.9.1

Reminder: All users must upgrade to at least 0.9.0 as soon as possible. Please check 0.9.0 release notes for details.

Wallet fails to load on OSX, the only meaningful message I can find in the logs are 20 instances of:

2015-05-04T14:48:35           bitshares:?  load_generic_record ] Unknown wallet record type: 6                  wallet_db.cpp:63

Completely locked out of my funds. Haven't done anything but upgrade versions and occasionally deleting the chain directory due to forks and crashes.

That line in the log is just a warning and shouldn't be causing any failure.

When you say the wallet fails to load, how does it fail?

Do you get any output if you run console command:

"wallet_scan_transaction <transaction_id>"

replacing the transaction id with the one you see on bitsharesblocks.com?

221
Did you build this version yourself? Does anything different happen if you build in Release or Debug mode instead of the current mode? Is it possible for you to test if the same thing happens on another machine?

Just tried to open my wallet via the command line and got:

Code: [Select]
error

13 class boost::filesystem::filesystem_error: boost::filesystem::remove The directory is not empty: "C:\.......chain\index\property_id_to_record"

What also seemed strange to me was that when I tried to take a look at the folder in question I found that the whole chain folder was still empty.

Strange. If you delete the whole "chain" folder does anything different happen?

why did you remove the tray icon?

Various reports of hard-to-debug crashes related to it. Was easiest to just remove it.

BitShares 0.9.0 has been released: https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares/releases/tag/bts%2F0.9.0

This is a required upgrade for all users by block 2460000 (approximately 2015-05-05 13:00 UTC).

Blockchain history will be replayed once after upgrade and can take a long time.

Wallet database will be upgraded once on first login after upgrade and can take a long time.

It is recommended to close and re-open client after first login after upgrade to avoid high memory usage.

Feedback can be posted in this thread: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,15900.msg203941.html#msg203941
