Did you try 'account_name' and empty memo?

Using the Cross-Chain Atomic Swap protocol, ...

Interesting.

At present, Mercury v0.1, an alpha version, supports:
Bitcoin
Litecoin
Dogecoin

Is it fun to trade just these three? I might try.

Plans to add other currencies and cryptographic assets are being considered, such as:

Ethereum
Colored coins (USD, company stock, etc.)
Sidechains
Nubits
Filecoin

Sad BitShares didn't make the list.

Sorry for the long wait. We will solve the security issue completely and get all altcoins online and enable the withdrawals in a week.

Edit: added 'quotes'

I occasionally run same wallet on different machines.

After some heavy use of one wallet/account,
the other wallet didn't reflect the changes anymore.

I guess, one wallet/account had generated more keys than the other wallet had.

To catch up with the other wallet, I had to
Code: [Select]
wallet_regenerate_keys <account_name> <number of keys to generate>
Depending on <number of keys to generate>, this can take some time.

then
Code: [Select]
rescan <block number from where to update the other wallet>

This wasn't the most pleasant experience. At the moment, I would suggest not using same wallet/account on separate devices (I wonder how it will work if I use 'public account' account instead of 'titan account').

Moreover, the wallet where I 'regenerated' the keys suggested moving funds to another wallet/account as it considered itself not safe to use (I don't remember the exact phrasing).

On my system (linux) GUI client creates .BitShares/wallet/default wallet.

I know that you can create a new wallet with console
Code: [Select]
wallet_create <wallet_name> <new_passphrase> [brain_key]

Code: [Select]
wallet_name (wallet_name, required): name of the wallet to create
new_passphrase (new_passphrase, required): a passphrase for encrypting the wallet
brain_key (brainkey, optional, defaults to ""): a strong passphrase that will be used to generate all private keys, defaults to a large random number

If you do so, you should have .BitShares/wallet/<wallet_name> folder with your new wallet.

Again, from console, close the old wallet with

Code: [Select]
wallet_close

and open the new wallet.

Code: [Select]
wallet_open <wallet_name>

You can choose account_type 'public_account' when register a new account with as in:

Code: [Select]
account_type (string, optional, defaults to "titan_account"): titan_account | public_account - public accounts do not receive memos and all payments are made to the active key

If you do so, you can show the balance in the account with the following command:
(but anyone else can see it if they now the account name).

Code: [Select]
blockchain_get_account_public_balance <account_name>

Don't forget to close the wallet before opening the other.

General Discussion / Re: No Bitassets on shapeshift
« on: February 28, 2015, 01:22:24 pm »
There was only BitUSD available to exchange on shapeshift.io

It is unavailable for the exchange at the moment.

I remember the reason they gave was connected to bter hack.
Also, they said they were looking for other means to enable BitUSD exchange.

The update to 0.6.0/0.6.1 (and 0.6.2) BitShares client replays the blockchain: it shows the 'completed percentage'. Usually takes an hour with 8GB of RAM and midrange CPU.

Strange that you need to sync it again. Let it sync the blockchain.
I my case it takes an hour or two.

Lets hope we get our coins from bter. No updates here either.

Would this help?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAwnzMEW-bg

If you use console (available in GUI client too),

you can 'help <command>' to see what it is for.

You would probably be interested in 'wallet_market_*' and 'blockchain_market_*' sets of commands.

cheers.

Hi,

I can't register an account.
I've got enough funds in the account.
This is the error I get:

General Discussion / Re: Presentation this Thursday

A few DAC/DAO articles surfaced lately.

http://www.coindesk.com/succeed-as-decentralized-autonomous-organization/
http://io9.com/how-much-longer-before-companies-start-to-run-themselve-1687015200

I think its worth mentioning DAC and how BitShares (and other systems) relate to/solve each part of DAC: Decentralized/Distributed, Autonomous, (being a profitable/sustainable) Company.

A few points could be:

DPOS:
  • economically sound (no waste, enough incentive)
  • Blockchain hires - maintenance, development.

market tools, BitAssets, hedging could be interesting too.

It could be that the client has to resync after it crashed (not properly closed).

Sorry to hear you've got  so much trouble with the client.

Maybe its worth to try the core client (the command line client).

It isn't that hard.
