Why is the latency so high for all delegates?
Has it to do with the last version?

No, I think it's a problem of http://bitsharesblocks.com/
-
It was on a fork so svk resynchronized.
Most of the blocks it got should have high latency (due to the fact blocks were received after synchronization started and not at designated timeslot).
It should be gone soon (I hope bitsharesblocks uses mean latency for the last X blocks).
UPDATE: It seems OK now.
-
It's because I was on a fork so when I updated the blocks all the latencies were really high. I've disabled the latencies for now, removed them this morning, will put them back tomorrow evening once I've got ~200 blocks for each delegate with correct latencies, since the average is based on the last 200 blocks.
If you refresh the site they'll go away from the table.

Is this new or just me discovering it now?

I felt instantly in love with the new GUI, so
What will happen if I click 'Yes" on File>Remove Updates --> "Are you sure you want to remove all installed updates?"
is it going to remove only 0.4.17a GUI?
-
BM seem to have mixed up the threads:
It will restore to the GUI that came with your download 0.4.17

How do I get my client to connect to the network? stuck at "not connected"
Let it sit like that for a bit. It's probably downloading a copy of the blockchain from a chain server. You can check your task manager or the data directories to see if it's doing something.
Also, if it is not actually doing anything make sure you're not on a VPN or other type of restricted network. My client won't sync when logged into my work's VPN.

Its probably just not updating the status bar ..
your can check the "real" status either with
"blockchain_is_synced" or "getinfo" in the "console"
