General Discussion / BitsharesX client and vista
« on: August 26, 2014, 04:20:17 pm »
I have some PTS to redeem on a pc with windows vista and have had some issues.

1. when i tried to create a password it accepted that both passwords were the same but wouldnt move on. I then closed and restarted the client and it asked for my account as if it had worked the first time.

2. When i tried to copy the new key address right click on the mouse didn't bring up the copy box. I had to use ctrl A.

3. After a short amount of time the application crashes and asks me if i want to send an error report (which i did)

General Discussion / Re: how do i find my BTSX address so i can receive
« on: August 25, 2014, 12:12:06 pm »
you click your account and go to the 'advanced' tab .. the account key starts with "BTSX......."

If you already have funds your can register the other accounts using the one that owns funds ... that should also work in the GUI afaik

Thanks xeroc, got it

General Discussion / Re: Do in need to register my BitSharesX Account

it's always a good idea to register an account name the same as your forum screen name to prevent other people from using it.

Thanks for the advise, but from a security prospective it doesn't matter?

I am wondering, from a security prospective, are my BTSX's any more safe if i register my account?

seems sensible belts and braces security. Thanks

Any chance of an answer from one of the devs on this,
1. is there a risk external to my system to password and private key from to an imported wallet?
2. Is this information stored anywhere, encrypted or not.
thanks in antisipation

I just claimed some of my btsx, before i gave my wallet password i changed it, uploaded my btsx and then changed it again. Is that safe 100% I guess the system is now holding my private key so that doesn't feel great.
Any advise.

General Discussion / [SOLVED] Help importing my btsx from pts wallet
« on: July 23, 2014, 07:43:51 pm »
Hi
I followed the wiki instructions, put wallet type as bitcoin, entered the path. In my case

C:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\Roaming\BitShares-PTS

entered the password for the encrypted wallet.

and pressed import wallet.

I got the following error

RPC Server Error: In method 'wallet_import_bitcoin': Db::open: Operation not permitted (13)

can anyone advise where i went wrong?

It's not complicated: only part of the supply was trading previously. Everyone could buy, a small fraction could sell. So the previous cap was inflated. If the exchanges hadn't traded their snapshot, this would be the starting price.

I like your conclusion toast, seems reasonable.
