Title: safe to send money to an unimported account?
Post by: unreadPostsSinceLastVisit on October 22, 2015, 01:26:04 am
So...

Still struggling to import my wallet.

But fighting the urge to make my bi-weekly buy in, especially at these prices...

If I send BTS to one of my accounts now, will that mess with the import process? Has anybody tried importing with an already active balance on the test network?

I think as long as you still control the private keys, sending funds to the corresponding public key should be fine. Public keys are derived from the private key. (they should be, that's how it work in bitcoin). But to be be safe you could always make a new account and send funds there then you can send them back to yourself once you are up and running on 2.0

EDIT: I am talking about send funds to the key (BTS...) not to the account

* you can safely send funds to your (registered) account and import your balance later ..
* you can no longer send funds to a public key but need to use the account ..
* it HAS to be an account you have registered in BTS1
* if you have registered after the BTS2 announcement your account name may have been prefixed with bts-
