General Discussion / client opened without password
« on: August 26, 2014, 11:34:18 am »
After downloading 0.4.8-a my client opened without asking for password and started downloading blockchain. After a while it just turned itself off and screen appeared where I need to put in a password. I inputed a password and it opened back and finish downloading blockchain.
It is all fine now, but I thought to mention it.

General Discussion / Re: How convenient for Ripple....

It is very important that people don't make this an "us vs them"... I have a lot of respect for Ripple's product and they are a valuable resource.

At the end of the day ranking on coin market cap is just a statistic.  The fact that BTSX is in the same league as Ripple when the code is still incredibly buggy and we are patching things on the fly is amazing.

Given the investment and infrastructure behind Ripple I was rather surprised at their small market cap.  I feel that this adjustment is a more fair estimation and by the end of the week we may well be ahead of them again.

To get extra "collateral" on your short position the current process is as follows:

Short 100 USD
Buy    50 USD
Cover 50  USD

Result:  partially covered position has 3x the required collateral.

I have followed instruction to start playing first shorting 100 than buying 50 (shows as 49.9999) just do not know how to cover.
Please help
Thanks  :)

If any motherfucker dares to short at $0.7 I will eat his collateral like a mama bear eats baby bear hunters

This reminds me of opening scene in  Pulp Fiction, very funny  :)

"I did read. Thats why I think its basically gambling software. They mention that they will have market pegged assets. That will be interesting, but I dont believe it will be market pegged but also pure gambling. (market pegged would mean that you can buy P&G share and price currently on stock exchange, and later sell it at price at that time, which IMO is impossible)."

If I understand BTSX properly than he might be right about P&G shares. My understanding is that we will be able to buy value of P&G shares, USD, Gold etc. and than speculate on it. So we will not be buying P&G share, but market value of P&G share which is fine with me as long as I can than use that value to buy real P&G share if I choose.
Please somebody correct me if I am talking nonsense.  :)

General Discussion / Re: What goes up... Preston Byrne

Law-abiding people in developed countries benefit from not having their assets seized and also from substantial deposit guarantees. When they deal with “deposits” at functioning exchanges and regular banks, their deposit balance represents a contractual obligation on the depository institution to return those funds at par.

Dear Preston,

So the question for me is who do I trust more with my money big banks or BTSX. Let me google "depositors lost money" and find out result.
Not to mention that most western banks are really bankrupt.
