General Discussion / Re: Dry Run 2: The Real Deal
« on: June 16, 2014, 01:17:44 am »
I'm typically getting about 8 connections immediately on startup, but they seem to gradually drop out as time goes on.  I just came back and was down to 4, so I restarted the client and I'm at 8 again.

FWIW: Last night I updated, which put me at 3-4 connections after launch instead of 1.  I manually added nodes until I was up to about 9, and left it for the night.  This morning I was down to 5, and apparently on a fork quite a few blocks behind on the chain.  My suspicion is that the cause is too many leaf nodes all on the old version so they only have one connection.

I'm running test node with large allowed number of connections
can someone try to add me as peer?

General Discussion / Re: What Coins are worth DAC Air Drops?
« on: June 15, 2014, 02:47:42 am »
...

I think most airdrops will end up with people who just dump their shares.  The airdrop needs an additional component that at least differentiates the people who care vs the people who will auto-dump.  If 80% of the people dump their shares, has the DAC gained value ? (rhetorical question)  At first I was more for the idea but as time has went on I've changed my opinion.  I like the idea of a random chance, but not one tied into purchases.  If there would be a way for a person to have to check to see fi they have received shares and not have them by default.  (That means they're at least slightly more motivated given that they're doing something with a possible outcome of 0..  vs guaranteed money given a typical airdrop)

So Luckybit's suggestion is good in that it differentiates people who care, but it also is just another way of purchasing shares with a random component.  If you could find a way to actually discern motivated investors vs people who will just immediately dump then we'd have a solution.
...

I think elsewhere I suggested snapshots onto vanity-gen'd addresses that say "BTS" or some other recognizable marketing label.  That way the stake airdropped is proportional to the amount of the target token symbolically used to advertise for us, which is at least a slight test of interest/commitment.

That problem has been fixed and we now know the problem for the peer connection issues as well and should have that fixed tonight.

Excellent!

I think you'd just have to crawl the chain and find all unspent outputs of transactions that voted for you.  You could filter out recent transactions depending on your vote duration requirement, and the voters can verify their loyalty by signing with the same keys that signed the voting transactions.

Oh, I know why from the source code.
delegate will not  producing block when connection less than 5.

But why the connection is always 1 or 2? I have a public IP.

I can't produce even 1 block after rebuild about 8hours ago.
the network and block sync seems no problem.
attention that  "wallet_seconds_until_next_block_production" is -5,

There are issues with the latest network code, but Eric and Dan are working on it.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Preserving initial delegate name
« on: June 14, 2014, 06:08:37 am »
init-delegate-1 seems like a rather good name.
I was wondering If I should use it.

init-delegate-1 is a horrible name.  Vote for init-delegate-62, init-delegate-63, init-delegate-64, and init-delegate-65 instead. ;)

...Do I get the dubious honor of first DPOS delegate smear campaign, or did someone beat me to it?

On recent builds I'm only getting 1 active connection.  Anyone else having this issue?

I have one question.

I have latest build (pulled one hour ago from this post time)

I'm seeing following value:
 "blocks_produced": 0

But i see
"last_block_num_produced": 4294967295

So it basically says that there is at least one block produced with following number "4294967295", but it does not count this block on blocks_produced placeholder.

Can someone explain this to me ?

4294967295 is the maximum value for an unsigned (never negative) 32 bit integer, and is not an actual block number that has been created in the chain.  Basically it says that because it was never changed to something legitimate, because you never produced a block.

@trog   looks fine to me. "blockchain_list_registered_accounts" shows ALL accounts, not just yours.
Yours were all pre-registered with 'init-delegate-N' and not the names you gave us.

That isn't the issue.  The issue is that my accounts don't seem to be properly linking to the blockchain registered accounts on rescanning, so it looks like my delegates are inactive even though I have their keys in the wallet and it's unlocked.

My account registration seems to be inconsistent.  Not sure what's going on there.  I cleared my data and then re-imported the wallet files.  I changed the names of the delegates that should be registered manually for consistency.

Does rescanning only check balances and not key registration?

I see no reason for a 10% cap on delegate transaction fee cut.  Why shouldn't delegates individually allocate 100% of transaction fees between destruction for dividends, their own cut, and funding development or charity or whatever they think the stakeholders want?

The inactivity fee could just be replaced with total destruction of funds after a year or so of inactivity, but that might make people nervous.  Is the another reason for the inactivity fee besides eliminating the need for permanent storage of old blocks?
