Anybody care to ELI5 (explain like im 5) why bts is trading at %8 -10 premium in chineese CNY exchanges then the european BTC exchanges. The thing I dont get is, isnt that premium enough for some arbitrage bots to take advantage of?

If this hero thing gains traction, which I have doubts, BTS be in top 3. Maybe even first by the end of year.

I just hope this experiment achieves tenth of what it claims...

Erm... tl;dr?
If you watched that 90 min video, you wont lose much by not reading.

two and a half years ago, on this very forum, people were talking about $1 = BTS; and it seemed impossible at that time. Now we see people talking about $10...

I don't know how to feel about it. My instinct says there must be something fishy about all this, on the otherside I believe in what BTS is capable of.

I am just confused about my feelings. Still hodling though.

And another issue... I got this from the state of the network report

"In this weeks Bitshares Hangout, @kenCode and @onceuponatime have revealed that Bitshares Stealth utilizing CA (Confidential Assets) is in active development and should be seeing this tech hit the testnet in the next couple of months. Big thanks to @onceuponatime who has taken it upon himself to fund the remaining development of Stealth and ensure Ken and the team have the runway required to finalise the project."

Does this mean blockpay is not going to enjoy the benefits from stealth?

If stealth becomes a core functionality of the BTS network, why should BlockPay be not able to benefit from it/use it? Am I missing some obvious thing?

Every time someone says Bitcoin or Ripple; I tell them about bitshares. I count myself in the team :)

What is the status of the ongoing blockpay issues?  No update here or on steem.  Blockpay is severely under performing almost all other currencies/assets.  Stealth was suppose to be ready (at least public testing) by now and should have been caught up in the Anonymous coin pump... Huge missed opportunity and very concerning with the lack of updates.

Why the sudden pump on all crypto?

General Discussion / Re: New Release and Hard Fork for March 23, 2016
« on: March 24, 2016, 03:58:58 pm »
Did it happen?

It happened and it happened in a quiet non-event way.  Good job devs!  Thanks for a stable, well tested release.
indeed .. quite boring :D

Not quite the place...but whatever:

I have started to think that, the lack of marketing for BTS is intentional. Among the direct competitors, BTS has the best proven-on-live-network-TPS, best block time. It has a working DEX backend, with a better-then-before front end.
It has a solution to a real world problem: hacking of centralized exchanges
It has the ability to undergo a hardfork smoothly :)
It has ongoing development.
Well you can even say that, with the gateways alive, it has fiat on blockchain.

Only reason I can think of, for the lack of marketing, is that some future businesses are accumulating while it is very very cheap. And they do not want price to go up for now.

I know it may sound like a tin foil hat conspiracy theory... What do you guys think?

Is the price suppressed intentionally, or are you (not counting myself as i am not that active as a community member) not capable of marketing?

All right here is a trade for anyone who wants to follow.

Buy now (approx 14.7 mill market cap)
-StopBuy bitUSD on the DEX if it falls below 12.5 mill market cap
-Take profitBuy bitUSD on the DEX at 20 mill market cap

That is about a 3:1 risk reward

General Discussion / Re: BitShares vs Ethereum
« on: March 17, 2016, 03:34:03 pm »
Major takeaway of that video:

* They name every hardfork differently! Frontier, Homestead, serenity
* Only after Serenity they will work on scalability for 1k to 10k tps
* After that .. they will be up to 1M tps ..
* Ethereum 4.0 brings 'infinity million tps" (WTF?! they either break speed of light or the size of the planet :) ) and maybe privacy
* Casper (the POS consensus) has not yet been proven
* solving the Economic scalability (bad actors shouldn't make a profit) in casper is still unsolved
* cross shard interoperability still unsolved
* shard validation and fees still unsolved

I think they will run into a lot of issues if they do not realize that doing things in parallel results in a lot of overhead.

The video is probably not worth your time, Dan. But it gives a nice overview of their current plans

I will say one thing, their "roadmap" is a perfect hype machine. It gives people hope for a perfect solution to every problem.

My experience with ETH (yes, I actually built it and synced the chain)...

1. I really like the JS console
2. my node got stuck syncing multiple times and had to be restarted
3. my node crashed multiple times.
4. It took me an order of magnitude longer to sync their chain

My take away is that for all of their hype, they are about as stable as the early versions of BTS. That said, I believe hype drives price more than value does.

So when is the hype time for BTS coming?  Somebody make a hype machine worker proposal and I will vote with my 2 bts
