I downloaded the tar.gz from the dacsunlimited website, extracted it, and looked at the build instructions for ubuntu.
it seems to be telling me to build the toolkit, i thought this was a different thing from BitShares X?
This is the real deal? No more testnets ? Shouldn't we have been warned in advance?
tested by experienced volunteers from the forum
Right now the wallet is available prior to the public release that DAC Sun is planning. And what will the the public release include? Does it mean press releases, articles on coindesk etc.? And will the public release probably be before monday?
tried compiling on Ubuntu 12.04
first it wanted an updated cmake so I downloaded the binaries from the website.
then it wanted an updated GCC, and I'm still working on trying to make that work.
tried running it under wine, and it seemed to install okay, ran the program and it took me to the screen where you create a password for your wallet. but it cut out into the main screen before I was done typing. this concerned me so I un-installed everything.
so... Ubuntu 12.04 users: don't bother unless you feel up to upgrading GCC (which is harder than it looks)- the package gcc-4.8-base did nothing.
anyone know if there's a GCC repository anywhere?
Did you follow these steps? It worked for me on 14.04 LTS:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install cmake git libreadline-dev uuid-dev g++ libdb++-dev libdb-dev zip libssl-dev openssl build-essential python-dev autotools-dev libicu-dev libbz2-dev libboost-dev libboost-all-dev
git clone https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares_toolkit.git
cd bitshares_toolkit
git submodule init
git submodule update
cmake .

those steps exactly? I thought this was building the toolkit, which bitsharesx is based on, but isn't bitsharesx?
In which way is this chain still a test? What is this supposed to mean?Quotetested by experienced volunteers from the forumQuoteRight now the wallet is available prior to the public release that DAC Sun is planning. And what will the the public release include? So I created an account with the name I wanted but when I try to register it it says I need to fund the account first. How do I do that? I have a number of BTSX on bter but they don't have withdraw enabled yet.
Is it safe to import my founder private key?
Go to advanced tab under your account, then send me the key + name you would like and I can register it for you. A faucet with free registration will be deployed in the next week or two.

This isn't a test... it is only a test in the sense that bitcoin was still experimental for a long time. This is a version 0.2.0 of a product that may have bugs.
DAC Sun Limited is working on press releases and other promotional items to get this out to the masses. I have no idea how fast they will be able to move, but I would guess it will be next week.
Can we download out BTS X wallet from the original github page at https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares_toolkit
instead of DAC's fork ? I would just feel more at ease doing that.
Also, shouldnt there be some tag/branch in the git repo for marking the official BTSX release? Trusting real money to the master branch, which is under constant development, doesnt seem right.
Does anyone have a rough step by step guide how to compile it in ubuntu (14.04)?

I have almost compiled it on Ubuntu 14.04. Have a look at the BUILD_UBUNTU.md file.

I just now updated to 14.04 just to compile this. Im pretty sure that will be the hassle-free option in the long run.
Also you might find that the linux binaries dont run on 12.04...
Ok I will do some giving up too:
I just discovered that to compile qt_wallet, I need to compile web_wallet, which means that I need node.js installed and my box needs to run basically as a full web server.
I was hoping that qt_wallet would be light-weight without mountains of dependencies.
I compiled it in a 14.04 virtualbox. the client seems to work, but I'm at a complete loss for how to get the qt_wallet to work.
never thought I'd consider going back to windows before...
make web_wallet
cmake -DINCLUDE_QT_WALLET=ON .
make

Try doing this first:Quotemake web_wallet
which requires node.js to be installed. After that I think you will be able to get the qt_wallet by configuring cmake with:Code: [Select]cmake -DINCLUDE_QT_WALLET=ON .
make
Let me know how it goes - im off to sleep.
Don't give up! I use Wine on Linux and the Widows version. What a happy day! Long we were waiting, the sailors of the bitshares ship ;)
Syncing.. happy
I don't know if the wine version from the repository or from their website is better. I think I just have the repository version.
wine --version
wine-1.6.2
i got the glitch, but only with the US version. This one no flickering whatsoever

there's a version other than the US version?
edit: well, theres a chinese version, obviously, but i don't speak mandarin
When will the windows binaries be available?
Yes, I agree - what do Daily Income, Expenses and Burn mean? Are they global stats for the entire network or is it personal to the user who is logged in?

restarts are not helping.
Edit: It also seems BTSX is not closing completely on closing it, I have to manually crash it by going to "processes"

So is it safe to import privkeys from pts wallet now?
on the side note, can someone send me some spare btsx to play around with first?

Are those init* delegates going to be gradually replaced by actual delegates from around the world?seems reasonable +5%
Right now it's kind of hard to push your delegate up, when EACH (!!!) init* delegate has over 3% of total votes...
And init* delegates create majority of active ones.
BTW: From my perspective it looks like if someone has, say, 3.9% of all shares, and creates 101 delegates all of which he approves, then each and every delegate gets 3.9% Approval. This makes a total of over 390% and effectively blocks others from becoming a delegate.
Shouldn't instead those 3.9% of all votes be divided equally amongst those delegates user approved, so that total # of votes for all approved delegates makes sum of 3.9%?

It is my understanding that the 3.9% stake gets divided over everyone you vote on. So if you have 10% stake, and you voted for 100 delegates then your 10% gets divided over 100, meaning 0.1%/delegate.

the system uses approval voting. your votes are not divided. if you vote for 100 delegates then each delegates gets 10% approval. as the network matures and more people claim their stake delegates will have to maintain approval much higher than the 3.9%

Same here. I'm having to restart the client every 10 minutes (or so) or I end up with "Pending" transactions that never (seem to) confirm.

You can get past this by allocating more swap space: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-add-swap-on-ubuntu-14-04
This is a BitShares Breaking Event Alert.
DAC Sun Limited (DSL), an independent Hong Kong based DAC developer you can find at DACSunlimited.com, is in the process of releasing the first official BitShares X (BTSX) chain.
Their official chain is now up and running and being tested by experienced volunteers from the forum. This is expected to be the real chain running from the official genesis block and any trading will be real and permanent. Because this is a brand new chain, everyone should use caution until it is clear that everything is working properly.
This is a pre-launch to enable final testing by experienced users before calling attention to it by the general public. It may take DSL a few more days to get all the instructions published, web pages polished, and make sure that everything is fully functional before making their official high-profile public launch.
Note that the BitShares Toolkit core developers will continue to add new features to the toolkit and work with the community evaluate them in parallel on our test network in an ongoing series of forum-based Dry Runs of a future release. However the BitShares X release from DACSunlimited.com is not a test. It is the real thing, featuring many of the final features except for BitUSD and its related functionality. These will appear in an upgrade expected later this summer.
DAC Sun Limited is working with several exchanges that we expect to begin trading BTSX soon. But if you want to get an early look at the real chain running from the official genesis block, and experiment with some peer to peer trading you can download the exciting new BTSX wallet here:https://github.com/dacsunlimited/bitsharesx/releases/tag/0.2.0
Pay attention to the following sites for more breaking information:
- dacsunlimited.com
- bitshares-x.info
- bitshares.org
- bitsharestalk.org
Our Chinese partners (dacsunlimited.com) have launched the real BTS X network and you can now download the real, legitimate, BTS X wallet from their website (or Github).
Right now the wallet is available prior to the public release that DAC Sun is planning. The binaries downloaded from https://github.com/dacsunlimited/bitsharesx/releases/tag/0.2.0 are safe to trust with your private keys as they are built from the code hosted on the same github repo.
This wallet is based upon our latest BitShares XT code base and has BitAsset support disabled. Their plan is to upgrade the chain as we release new stable updates to the XT dry run tests.
Exchanges are working to integrate this chain.

But isnt 2 gb ram for a VM far enough?error at the "make" stage: not enough virtual memory. can not allocate memory (those were not the exact words but almost...). The VM has almost 2 gb. What is going wrong? I used the 0.2.1 Version on ubuntu 14.04....can anyone think of a solution here? I tried it three times and the installation always stops at ~ 80 % because not enough memory could be allocated....

Our codebase has grown and without swap space, we've noticed that 2GB isn't enough for compilation anymore.
blockchain_list_assets
Maybe it's already been asked (but the forum search didn't turn anything up), but why is it that when doingCode: [Select]blockchain_list_assets
and again after 10 secondes.
the supply of BTSX is going up with about 0.6BTSX/block?
I thought I would see it slowly declining because of the transaction fee burning.
@delulo 4 GB swap should probably be sufficient, if not, trial and error...

I have increased the swap file to 4 GB on my host as well as on my guest with "sudo fallocate -l 4G /swapfile"
What is wrong and what can I do?
mkswap /swapfile
swapon /swapfile
chmod 600 /swapfile
(sudos where appropriate)
just enter those after the command I quoted?
What did you mean by "secure it"?
Is this one be proto DAC and the snapshot will become useless after this? I ask because otherwise the PTS trapped at Bter and BTC38 on snapshot day will need to be used again. The link is correct.

Sorry guys if it's already answered somewhere..- Info: bitshares-x.info and http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/Bitshares_X
I am running on work.. so less time to this.. but I wanted to ask:
- Where/how can we link the PTS -> BTSX conversion coins (besides Keyhotee) to the accounts from the BTSX toolkit.
- Did the coins suffer the same "multiplication" we see on Bter? When?
- Any quick/summary of BTSX so I can share this AWESOME STUFF!?
TO the best/complete answer I will donate 1 BTSX! =) and report back the experience.
Best regards folks!
Sorry guys if it's already answered somewhere..- Info: bitshares-x.info and http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/Bitshares_X - > That does not explain how I do link the coins.. I am looking for a customized (time expensive) answer. The "google it" thing.. i know how do to it quite well (no offence please). Again.. I am looking for valuable answer for BTSX Community. And therefore.. I tease your answer. =) I could do it my self.. But I am more interested in getting some other guy / girl ...

- Didnt suffer. Amount of coins doesnt affect market cap - > I know that.. that was not the question...
- dont know. -> OK. Thankyou anyway.
- what do you mean by " link the coins"? -> If you were a holder of PTS.. by the time the DACs appeared.. you were promised some BTS. Then BTSX goes on.. then the app shows up.. how do i use my DAC converted coins. How do I link the keyhotee private key or key founder to BTSX account?
- what was the question then? Specify "multiplication" -> BTer announced... "Notice: We have scaled all users' BTSX funds based on extending the total BTSX from 4 million to 2 billion. Please beware of the market price change." What I wanted to know.. is if this really happened to the chain too (that I am seeing as it happened), when.. and if your old coins.. where multiplied too, or.. at what conversion ratio if not.
Note: I answered the questions in reverse order. So my answer 1 was the answer to your questions 3 and so on. Sorry for the confusion.

Q2: I hope I understoof your question right. BTS X was just released there were no coins before. Of course the price changes of the money supply changes but the market cap which matters to you doesnt change. Can't answer it better than that.

For your first question there are two ways:
1) In the Bitshares-x client go to Accounts->Some_Account->Advanced->Import Wallet->Drag your PTS wallet.dat file onto the field or enter the path. This will import all your private keys and you'll see a bunch of deposits to that account from "GENESIS". NOTE: The passphrase it asks for is the one from your PTS Wallet so that it can decrypt the .dat.
2) Open PTS wallet, unlock wallet. In the console type dumpprivkey <public_address> and then do as in 1 but on the import key tab.

SOunds more.. like I was guessing.. but thanks.
Does that convert the snapshot amount of PTS.. even if you don't have that amount of PTS since the DAC snapshot?
That sounds like a purely command line version. Is there a gui in linux already?
I made (compiled it). Thanks!
Now how do I start the client (webwallet? desktop wallet?)?
System: Ubuntu 14.04
Go to the programs/client/ directory and you should see a binary called bitshares_client or something similar. To make your life easier once you find it type sudo mv bitshares_client /usr/bin/. so it'll be in the path.
Then:
screen bitshares_client to run it. (sudo apt-get install screen if you don't have it)
Type cntrl-a cntrl-d to put the screen in the background (still running) and screen -r to "resume" your screen session.
Once you're at the Wallet prompt you'll need to create a wallet with wallet_create <name> and then create an account within it.
Once you're all setup type wallet_export to save it out to a .json. For safety I also quit the client and then went to ~/.BitSharesx/wallets and tar'd the named wallet directory and put it somewhere safe (different machine(s) ).

Apart from BTS X your PTS on bter and bt38 (of these exchanges offer the same service again) can be used for other snapshots.... Is that what you meant?
when doing step 1) I open my pts wallet and make a backup. I placed the .dat file on my desktop. I drag the .dat file into the wallet path and it gives me a error "RPC Server Error: In method 'wallet_import_bitcoin': Db::open: Bad address (13) . Did anyone tried this one yet?
wallet_import_keyhotee <firstname> <middlename> <lastname> <brainkey> <keyhoteeid>
one thing I can't figure out regarding DPOS. Since stake equals the value of txins in a transaction, opposed to value * coin age, why cannot one not loop transactions to themselves, in order to vote x delegates to the top?

The votes aren't additive by transaction. They are allocated by BTSX. So you can loop the transaction but your just reallocating the same votes and paying a trans fee each time.

AGS works the same way as your PTS wallet. import the wallet.dat you donated from in the same manner.
my understanding is that there's an option for electrum wallet file types in there somewhere (advanced tab, import)
I was able to successfully import my PTS wallet private key into one account. I have used the key (not the file).
this may sound stupid: I have been all over the wallet, but i cannot find the deposit address for receiving BTSX funds.
can someone please advise?
wallet_list_my_accounts
In my case I had no trouble at all importing both bitcoin/protoshares wallet and private keys.
Neither had I any troubles with wallet_import_keyhotee command. All worked smooth.
It was performed on Ubuntu 12.04 and 14.04.
When I want to claim the pts I donated to ags, what is the command? wallet_import_bitcoin (description says: Imports a bitcoin core or PTS wallet) or does it only work by importing the pts priv. key via wallet_import_private_key?

I pointed the client at my wallet.dat for PTS that contained the private key of my donation address. I believe I got all the AGS that was coming to me.
My Accounts->Some_Account-> Advanced -> Import Wallet (bitcoin) -> Put in path to the wallet.dat that contains the private PTS keys.
Two questions:
1>Can I just backup my wallet by copying? I did export command but where did it export to?
EDIT: From the GUI 'export wallet' gives me location. But where did the command line export wallet deliver it? I don't want a copy lying somewhere which I don't know about.
2> It gets stuck syncing - sometimes at 6k, sometimes at 9k. I delete and start again and it again gets stuck. I am running Win GUI and have 15+ connections.

We will look into why that is getting stuck. It shouldn't be doing that.

Can you tell me where the exported wallet (done through console) went?

Finally synced. It seems that the delegate registration is ~20 BTSX. Initially it was said that delegates should earn back the registration fee within 2 weeks(i've argued against that :x), but it seems that this was reduced to a trivial fee.
What is the normal registration and delegate registration fees? I wonder if I should register as delegate as it doesn't seem possible to get into the 101 delegates now, as I see delegates like spartako and testz sitting outside.
I do want to set up a seed node, though. Is it possible from the Win GUI?

For me, the biggest obstacle to even registering a delegate is potential legal problems. Not to even mention the competition and hard work convincing the shareholders to vote for you.
Cheers, will set up then once I import my balances in. Any suggestion on the pay rate?Yes. You cannot increase it, so be careful, start with 100.
Cheers vikram, gamey. Still can't find it though - can you tell me what should be the name of it?

The command is 'wallet_export_to_json <filename>'. It's called whatever filename you entered.

Also if you didn't enter a path it'll be wherever you called the client from. Likely the directory you built it in :).
I have a question out of curiosity. I understand Bithsares X itself is a DAC, but is there a possible way of potentially making the whole process of buying crypto/BitAssets decentralized? I mean to deposit cash directly into it? I know this might be too farfetched but i was just wondering. since I still have to rely on an exchange to deposit cash, buy btc and then transfer them over to my wallet. Sorry if it sounded dumb but i was just wondering.. It really would be awesome, without having to rely on an exchange (since i guess I would always have to rely on a bank to transfer money here). It would be one less intermediary
there's no way to decentralize fiat > crypto
once you have crypto though, everything else can be decentralized. you can have a decentralized crypto exchange (and i'm pretty sure that's actually the plan for bitshares x), there's just no way to get fiat into it.

I think the value of BTC will be that it will always remain the most established gateway for fiat <-> BTC. All the other interesting stuff will be in things like BTC <-> BTSX, BTC <-> Ethereum. Until any of these projects become important enough that the fiat gateways will start using them as well.
Any way to get in as a delegate in place of one of those ints? I'm still stuck far out at 250+ rank.

Can someone confirm where I'll find the most stable wallets and reliable information regarding Bitshares X. the bitshares-x.info site, looks very professional and encourages me to continue investing (a happy feeling). But, the wallet version is on 0.2.2 (stable version maybe?)
This dacsunlimited.com site has a later wallet version 0.2.3 and has received the blessing of BM along with a higher slot in the pecking order.
but, the site is full of broken links and frankly looks like a hobby coin site, not a product I wish to invest in.
Anyone up for a little "Magic The Gathering Online eXchange".
If dacsunlimited.com were my first impression of the Bitshares ecosystem, I'd have gone runny months ago. IMHO a big "coming soon" banner with a link to bitshares-x.info would better serve us.

And in case the blockchain needs to be reset will the BTSX balances be reinstated in the new blockchain via some kind of snapshot of the previous blockchain?Yes.
How safe is it to invest real money into BTSX? I've gone through this topic but haven't found a direct answer to this.In general this is a difficult question. If most people of those who could ever buy this asset would know an answer to it it wouldn't be a good investment anymore ;)

How do I run the qt wallet on linux (not a debian based pc...) ?Currently you need to compile it youself. Whats your distribution?
I followed this issue ...
https://github.com/dacsunlimited/bitsharesx/issues/4
I just fiddled together the compile instructions to the wiki
http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/BuildInstructionsBitSharesX (http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/BuildInstructionsBitSharesX)
turns out: compiling is WAY easier under linux than under windows :)
npm install actually installs dependencies in a local node_modules folder if run by user .. not sure about the difference if run by root ...
