They don't need a quantum computer to screw up bitshares. They just need to bribe the majority of witnesses. This wouldn't cost a lot.

Perhaps some people's principles aren't for sale as cheaply as yours?

Shareholders need to assess character as well as technical proficiency when  voting.

My principles are not for sale. I'm am not so sure about principles of people whom I don't know personally.

If people who are looking for information about open ledger project by Linux Foundation will see shrill references to openledger.info and obits everywhere, they will be just pissed off.

I could certainly build something like this
Any change on the blockchain can trigger an executable ..

If you put together a list of things you would like to have I can tell you a price ..

- funds arrived
- order fulfilled

Hi! Do you have (plan to have) on/of ramps for USD?

We're focusing on peer-to-peer on/off ramps for USD so we are looking to build, integrate or collaborate on features similar to the following:
1) Glidera - (http://glidera.io/)
2) LibertyX - 19,000 locations to buy bitcoin (https://libertyx.com/)
3) Bitquick.co - p2p transactions via dropping cash into people's bank accounts (https://www.bitquick.co/)
4) LocalBitcoins

We also have the option to use wire transfers to CCEDK, and potentially use ACH to Canada with BunkerChainLabs.

Of course there are ways to go from USD to bitcoin to bitCash.

One of the easiest way for things to spread is really just to give friends and people you know bitCash for USD... we just need a lot of people familiar with Bitshares with access to bitUSD to disseminate it.

It all depends on how much money do you want to raise to implement the feature. If you want $300 to implement maker-taker, I'll buy some of your MAKER at $0.0003.

What you are describing was a feature of the original BTSX whitepaper. (5% annual inactivity fee).
With the presence of dilution any further fees for standard accounts would likely be untenable.

A possible option is to completely remove dilution and commit to being a no inflation crypto-currency again with the expectation that basic development can be paid for via fees, and blockchain additions & marketing can be funded via FBA's & the referral programme. In which case the inactivity fee could be re-introduced (& possibly make more BTS/valuable BTS available than is currently accessed via dilution.)

However as I said at the time, adding dilution was a Pandora's box, once precedent is set, it's hard to undo, so there's no guarantee BTS would regain crypto-currency status and value as well as being a kick ass DAC by relinquishing the flexibility dilution provides.

So was the inactivity fee implemented in BTSX or was it just in white paper? Something like 5% annual, 100 BTS minimum sounds reasonable. Let asset creators decide the amount for each asset.

I am not impressed by this particular proposal, but having a way to return money from orphan accounts would be actually good thing for the network. This could be done by setting inactivity fee or demurrage. Accounts which did not submit any transactions for, say, one year would pay a small fee. BTS fee would go to reserve pool, asset fees would be returned to asset issuers. If account is abandoned, it would continue to pay for inactivity until its balance goes to 0.

Instant confirmations.
People would actually love it.
I hate having to wait so much on Bitcoins you know ?

I don't see as much potential in centralized sites, but instant deposit confirmations is good advantage.

https://just-dice.com/ now uses CLAM crypto-currency,

I asked in their troll box and average deposit confirmation time is 6 minutes so BTS is much better than even that. (Also for the record, their trollbox said their site makes about $1000 per day profit and the stats are there too.) So there is some value in non BTC centralized dice sites.

So, what's a point in making another dice casino? Just negotiate just-dice to accept BTS, bitUSD, bitWhatever. [edit]Or make a CLAM gateway in bitshares and you are good to play.[/edit]

How many of you guys would actually be interested in backing the house if we launch a dice based project (open source maybe)  ?
Keep in mind, it will be basic and not decentralized, but functional and good enough to get things rolling.
Should, ofcourse ask kuro and hybridd if its even possible, but yea.

There are a million of bitcoin casinos out there. If you have to put together one more, you have quite a competition. You have to put together some features which no other casino has.

You say "In a market you have offers to buy at different prices, or bids.", but not ALL markets behave as an auction or negotiation. Walk into most retail stores and there is no negotiation, the price is the price, take it or leave it.

Its the same thing really.  The various bids or buys, are like various competing retail stores all competing for your dollars.  The highest bid is the only relevant bid if they can satisfy the amount you're looking to buy.  So the highest bid is the no negotiation, take it or leave it price.

Of course you can negotiate by placing a sell order(ask) above this price but you risk no one being willing to meet it.  You can do the same at a retail store (trying to get a discount) but you may not get it.

There are actually terms for these two types of trades: market order and limit order. Market order is like checking different retail stores, choosing the cheapest one and accepting their prices. In bitshares you just accept lowest ask price. Limit order is when you say: this is the highest price I am willing to pay. If an offer with lower price is available, you take it, if not, you wait until somebody  accepts your offer.

General Discussion / Re: BRICS - BitShares Commemorative UIA

Actually I got the idea from silver coins issued by Russia to commemorate BRICS, as you know these are the nations that are forming an economic cooperation which might become a major economic power in the world. I thought it would be something special to reserve the name on the blockchain. And also bringing some new users to bitshares as you can see newbies on this thread. We as bitshares platform should offer a variety of assets to appeal different cultures and people , make it colorful.

Ha-ha! Cool idea! Send me some BRICS: yur.vikh :)

@OP

Please, include a "smart wallet" feature into your list, which you discussed with Max Wright on bitshares TV. You were talking about a wallet which automatically converts currencies for users, such that if I have USD and I want to pay to merchant in Europe which accepts Euros, I don't need to go to trade books and leave orders. Instead, bitshares does this for me, and makes sure that I have the best rate by checking different paths, like USD -> BTS -> EUR, USD -> BTC -> EUR etc. This is the coolest feature of ripple imo, and if you miss it in bitshares it is not good.

No. It is just a common sense. If a community is pissed off by behavior of one  member, ban the bastard. What's a problem with this? You don't cut his head, you just suggest to find another place to piss people off. I was banned from about 100 different forums, for different reasons, and look, I feel ok. I have thousands more ways to express my freedom of speech.

Disclosure: I was never personally pissed by the banned guy. I don't know him, and don't really care if he is banned or not. If mods are so kind, go ahead and unban him. :)
