Title: Wallet won't sync
Post by: onceuponatime on August 21, 2014, 12:05:56 am
I have opened and closed my wallet a few times, but the "last block is synced" keeps growing and is now up to 81 minutes.

I have 10 network connection.

I added nodes a couple of days ago.

Everything was working fine two hours ago.

Any ideas what my is causing my syncing problem?

Check your chain/index folder and see if the time stamps are updating.
On an i5 it synced in about half an hour. My old c2d laptop took about 4 hours. I think the reindex is intense.

Looks like the hard fork caused some clients to get stuck.

I had this problem earlier yesterday with both PTS and BTSX clients on OS X, I believe I just ended up rebuilding the chain by deleting the "chain" directory in /Users/account/Library/BitShares X/chain and it started syncing again after a rebuild.

There may be a quicker solution that I don't know about. wallet_rescan_blockchain didn't work for me to fix.

ive been having issues getting 0.4.4 to sync as well.

it seems 0.4.5 is going to drop tomorrow. I think I might just wait and compile it instead.

Severe network problems | Last block is synced 23 days old

45,000 blocks out of  281,000    catching up.  Stuck.

Any body try uninstalling and reinstalling the wallet.?  Might that work.

Make sure that you updated to version 0.4.4: https://github.com/dacsunlimited/bitsharesx/releases
and fix CrashRpt1402.dll issue: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=7161

Delete everything (except wallets folder) from: %APPDATA%\BitShares X
Run the client, it's should start downloading blocks.

Before everything, make sure that you have your wallet export, or make a backup of %APPDATA%\BitShares X\wallets folder

My BitShares X wallet is stuck at the exact same block 275,164. What is the fix for this? Rescan blockchain or just wait?

I'm using the latest Windows build.

I don't understand your method, you say to copy the wallet folder or use the wallet export. Those are two different things, the wallets folder has several files. The export is just one file, the config.json

So which do I need so I can import my wallet? Should I use the import function in the wallet, or can I just drag and drop the files?

ALSO, SHOULD I JUST WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW? I READ THAT 0.4.5 is being released tomorrow?

It "just works" for every single version I have compiled on Mac.   That said, we are preparing a How To for those having trouble syncing via P2P and will be posting that soon.

Clean install, new wallet 0.4.7, used the chain servers but still no connection

Also, I'm getting account registration error if I register an account with dot or dash.

Firewall?

That is intended behavior ... dots are reserved for subaccounts and "-" is only allowed in the middle of the name if I remember correctly

Hi, thanks.

I installed the 0.4.6 it syncing but it keep crashing.
Then installed 0.4.7 always No Connection.
I reinstalled 0.4.6 now has no connection.
also tried to disabled firewall and antivirus still No Connection.

Edit:
I leave the wallet open then it's now syncing but too slow, the problem is the network too congested or something.

with clients below 0.5.0 all peers will eventually disconnect you as you do not have the latest version (blockchain hard fork) implemented.

@matthewmorganstein .. you currently need alot of ram to initially sync to the blockchain .. what are the specs of your computer?

It syncs fine on a vps with 512mb of ram, with a 4gb swap. Linux though..
