KeyID / Re: Why DNS has to accept the merger, and an apology
« on: October 23, 2014, 04:38:48 am »
Thanks for the clarification of your stand on this.

Even though I left a big part of my DNS on the bter exchange (out of convenience) and probably lose them, your thoughtfulness and care for the minority holders impressed me.  I believe you have the best interest at heart for the DNS project and its community.  Let's move forward.  I am behind you.

The faucet runs dry at times and I will top it up.

The screenshot is too small and the words cannot be read.  If you can PM me your account name-to-be-register and its public address, I can look it up for you.

General Discussion / Re: Proposed Allocation for Merger
« on: October 22, 2014, 07:24:52 am »
Why on earth would you announce a specific allocation yet. You just cratered pts and dns, while I've been telling people that they can hold their dns because it won't matter.

This is not the allocation I agreed to, I'd you recall...

Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

actually I am one of the victims since if I didn't read toast's statements I would for sure sold my dns before they tanked!

Well, you are not alone.  I bought DNS shares from the market after seeing toast's assurance.  I woke up in shock when I saw my DNS investment being decimated.  The sudden dive in price is because of a single post and over one night?  Wow!  This seems unreal to me.  Am I in the Matrix?   :o

The only consolation I find is that toast has no part in this.

General Discussion / Re: Proposal to Resolve a Million Issues at Once
« on: October 20, 2014, 09:24:11 am »
merging BTSX with PTS and AGS is not necessarily a bad thing, if we do it right.

if someone can come up with a proposal for the merger that are signed/approved by majority of share holders (>51%) of BTSX, PTS and AGS, then we have no option but to merge. I think it will become a historical event.

we are dealing with digital assets here, collecting signatures from share holders wouldn't be that hard.

In a traditional incorporated company, shareholders vote on issues affecting the company direction.  Bitshares is branded as a DAC - Decentralised Autonomous Company. If it aspires to be functioning like a traditional company, it needs to provide a way for its shareholders to vote on important issues such as merger and acquisition.  A motion has been raised to merge the DACs and make fundamental changes to PTS and AGS.  There are consequences that would impact each and every shareholders.  Can Bitshares live up to its name and provide its shareholders a means to vote on the motion?

Hey Cube,

I was trying to reply to your post..but I wasn't allowed to include your "quote" in my reply because of the external link included

I figured this out after I sent you a pm.. :-)   Again proof I am very new at this but I'm learning.

Anyway if you can reply either way that's fine.  Even if I can't register a keyid  I will still purchase some DNS

thanks again

No problem.  We were all new users once. :)

I replied your PM.

Hi Cube

I am a newbie trying to register on KeyID but I am encountering the same "chicken & egg" problem as with
BTSX...I acquired some DNS tokens and tried to send to my wallet but Bter would not process
the transaction.. I can't use freekeyid...I don't have a twitter or google authentication account.

...

We like to encourage new users to use the faucet.  If you do not have a twitter or google account, not a problem. It is really easy to create one.  You can sign up for one at https://twitter.com/signup in just a few steps .. (less than a minute?).  Do give it a try.   :)

Can someone report this?

The dev is aware. Please wait for a fix for the Mac GUI wallet.

Thanks for the Windows binary.  I encountered this error with 0.0.4 win binary after an upgrade:

>> wallet_list_accounts

10 assert_exception: Assert Exception
item.second.is_my_account == my->_wallet_db.has_private_key( item.second.active_address() ): 'is_my_account' field fell out of sync
    {}
    bitshares  wallet.cpp:5660 bts::wallet::wallet::list_accounts

    {}
    bitshares  wallet.cpp:5669 bts::wallet::wallet::list_accounts

    {}
    bitshares  common_api_client.cpp:1235 bts::rpc_stubs::common_api_client::wallet_list_accounts

    {"command":"wallet_list_accounts"}
    bitshares  cli.cpp:556 bts::cli::detail::cli_impl::execute_command

For those who encountered the same problem, I resolved it by rebuilding my wallet.  From importing all the private keys.

There are reported problems with Mac GUI.  Someone has worked around using the non-GUI version.  See https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=10122.msg132217#msg132217

You may like to try that.

Hi

There is no 'wallet path' box in the OSX version?

Sorry. I was not clear.  The 'wallet path' is referring to step 4 in this screenshot http://keyid.cubeconnex.com/img/import-pts.png

Are you able to follow the steps listed in the screenshot?  There are 6 steps shown.

I seem to be stuck on block 1251.  My wallet stopped syncing.  Any reason you guys can think of?

There is another person who had problem with the Mac GUI but succeeded with the CLI (command-line client).  See https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=10122.msg132078#msg132078

The program client bitshares_client is in subfolder /programs/client. Have you tried that?

Not being in newbie in the crypto scene and experience with different clients, I don't quite understand what it does not work for me….
Any help is appreciated

No problem. We will do our best to help you.

I am not familiar with mac. But I can try to help you with the same concept used in Window client.  If the Mac GUI import is not working for you, we can try using the console command.  You will need to find out the file path of the wallet.dat.  It will be something like "~/Library/Application Support/BitShares-PTS/wallet.dat".  Are you able to find out the wallet.dat file path?

Hmm not really, I guess…
How does one do that? :-)

There is a guide with visual help. See if this helps.

http://superuser.com/questions/371513/how-to-tell-full-path-of-file-on-mac

Edit: If you can get the file path, you may be able to paste it into the 'wallet path' box and click 'Import Wallet'.  This will save you from having to try the console method.
