General Discussion / Re: Back the BTSX with physical gold
« on: September 28, 2014, 07:49:46 pm »
The way that I see the crypto economy is that every liquid asset is backed by a number of things. Encryption, scarcity, electricity, people, networks and utility.

Gold certainly is secured. It is secured by nations, banks, governments, people and the vast utility. It has been the standard for centuries and we are not about to abandon it. Gold is well known to traditional investors and holds stability and trust.

[deleted for conciseness]

Tell me more about that decentralised way to exchange and store value. Sorry but bitcoin isn't the answer!

No, its not reactionary, its investor logic to want security.

Security. Yes.  Your concern is very valid.

Tonyk and Stan are correct.

Restructuring...

expect an announcement before the end of the week.

The end of 'the week' has passed and it is the beginning of a new week. Anything?

I think this goes against the idea of bitshare - decentralised banking & market, and to do so without a need to be backed by any physical asset.

General Discussion / Re: Coinmarketapp is coming and BTSX is included
« on: September 28, 2014, 05:28:10 am »
The screens look pretty slick but I don't like how they hijacked the coinmarket name for their own use.  They are NOT associated with coinmarketcap.com

i think this is a clever marketing step! The provide the marketcapapp so why not using the name ;) my 2 btsx

I like how you said "my 2 btsx". Clever, I think I may hijack that  :P

Why do people say, "my 2 btsx", when there's another phrase?

...Just my 0.02 BitUSD

btsx worths a lot these days. 0.02 BitUSD would be a 'cheaper' opinion comparatively.  ;)

祝你有个好的开始!

teach first, then insult might work. :)
..

How about 'teach first, never insult'?  Nobody really deserves an 'insult' treatment - unless we are talking about trolls and FUDs.

http://arstechnica.com/security/2014/09/concern-over-bash-vulnerability-grows-as-exploit-reported-in-the-wild/
Aparantley this has a huge impact on linux/unix/osx servers with bash installed; if you've got it installed, please update it and keep ontop of this news!

Updated to patched bash.

I do not see it as much of a threat. The exploit only works if a delegate is using shared hosting or running services such as Web server which has bash escape.  I doubt any delegate would do that.

By the way, in order to increase diversity of updates you may want to check out my feed script:
It was based on alt's script but I essentially modified everything :)

https://github.com/xeroc/pytshares/blob/master/btsx_feed.py

I would love to run your feed script and help to provide a level of feed diversity.  Does my delegate need to make it to the top 101 to be able to provide feeds?
