Title: What is everyone up to?
Post by: Ben Mason on June 14, 2015, 07:35:02 pm
So there are some great people in this community. I read as much of the forum as possible, the news letters, recommended links and a bunch more but I still don't have a clue what everyone is up to!  I was thinking maybe there are others who feel the same. Assuming we can all get passed the CMX nuke  :P, we'll need get really mobilised if we're going to build the network up so we can afford the core devs and get the juggernaut rolling.

So please post a short summary in this thread, if you wouldn't mind, about what you're up to. Or recommend someone who's efforts have made a difference to you. The idea is for us all to have a reasonable idea of who our foundational, active members of the Bitshares network are and what they are up to.

This is also a call to all lurkers too. Are you working behind the scenes? Or perhaps you are on the cusp of introducing yourself....well go for it!  We sometimes bark and our bite is always worse, but we'll work it out in the end  :D

I'll go first.... Ben Mason, working towards integrating BTS into my Vape shop, perhaps launching a UIA.

I'm designing a range of asset class structures and associated tokens that could be implemented in bitShares, and serve as (better) substitutes to traditional structures like stable currency, term deposits, bonds, ETF's, futures and options, CFDs, credit markets, etc. This will require greater flexibility than privatised bitAssets currently allow, so there will initially be some lobbying to do on this front. Later I would like to get others involved as co-funders, developers and promoters to help bring these to fruition and share reward from them.

I have been building DPOShub.org along with @DataSecurityNode. It's an interactive web-based platform for our community to share PR content, build business relationships and post classified listings (just a few of the many features). Check out our update in the May NullStreet Journal, and our whitepaper: http://www.dposhub.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/dposhubdelegateproposal.pdf

We should have a working beta soon and we will be sharing more information in a public announcement in a few weeks. Stay tuned!

Also, please don't forget to vote for our delegate: delegate.dposhub-org

We're using Ben's Vape Shop products to help test software (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,16622.msg216544.html#msg216544) that will make transcribing the mumble sessions easier on us.

DPOSHub - As CryptoP already mentioned, been working on this. Coming along nicely and is going to awesome for this community. Vote delegate.dposhub-org

BunkerMining - Still trying to get our delegates voted so we can get proper funding to get all our improvements done (http://vote.bunkermining.com). I had a programmer working on improvements but just the other day came to realize he was not going to work out. Now seeking someone else who can get the work done for a fraction of what most would ask to get it done for. Market cap payout for the delegates is killing the project. FUD from some hasn't helped. I still spend nearly 2 hours everyday processing payments.

BunkerShares - I was getting the SAFE system developed when we got hit with the 2.0 change. The cutoff of the refer for the next few months threw off plans and it took a while to figure out how to best proceed. Now that we got it straight we are going back to dev, but holding off on SAFE until 2.0. Getting closer to a launch date. :) Oh and if you don't know what it is, it's a presale offering powered by BitShares UIA. (see my sig for link).

Tuesday I am doing a presentation on How to create a Bitshares account that is going to be videoed. I am still preparing for it.

I started the day highly motivated to begin a new book series, and spent a good number of hours researching bytemaster's posts on the bitcointalk forum, going back to his first one on July 27th, 2010 and the most recent one being on May 21st of this year. This was research I started to support the series that I'm tentatively calling The BitShares Saga. I have 5 books in the making, starting with part 1: The Genesis of a Revolution. The 30 pages I've written that was to become The Coming BitShares Revolution will not go to waste but will be revised and become part 3: Experiments for a Revolution. That was the plan I started to formulate and put into action today.

I launched the website to promote what was going to be the book, which I am in the process of changing to fit my new plan. The link to the website is on the left under my name.

I'm going to develop a decentralized marketplace and use bitshares as a payment option via shopping cart plugin to woocommerce. It will be an onchain marketplace.

Wrapping my head around a post training-wheels BitShares and tweaking my two bots (inner market maker and outer Metaexchange).

Trying not to get fired from my other job (the one that pays my bills ;) ) because my heart and soul is here. I am extremely busy at "work" but I just can't get myself to give a shit. When I mentioned I wanted out of the rat race what I meant was having the financial independence to work on things that matter. My current gig doesn't matter to anyone except maybe a few execs looking to increase their bonuses. I want more out of life.

I'm chipping away at a finance phd focusing on cryptofinance, beefing up my programming skillz, but not a dev so kind of struggling with how to contribute to the community here. while i'm piecing together a bootstrapped remittance idea in central america that can hopefully make use of bitassets, i'm buying a little more BTS every day and adding some liquidity to the exchanges.

Excited to see when it's ready!

Hello, I will speak in the name of the whole BitShares French ConneXion team in order to give you an answer.

Our goal is easy, provide accessible information to the french speaking community about crypto currencies and especially about BitShares.
Thus, we are focused on marketing and the growth of BitShares on this market or at least we will do our best to spread the BitShares seed around us!
We are actually remodeling our web site. The first version of it was ok but we really want it to be more adequate with the “crypto sphere” way.

We are also running a slightly different project on the side. We did notice that some tutorials exist and have been made a while ago in the “newbie” section. We all know that BitShares is going for the homerun and there will be a need for worldwide knowledge of the product. In conclusion we decided to provide the world with semi professional video tutorials in all of the major languages. The videos will be about the fiat gateways, the exchanges and obviously the client. A bigger focus on the client is planned with the released of the 2.0. We are in the process of producing them right at this moment. If the community feel like to help with the translation of the subtitles, we will apreciate it very much. Anyway we will make a dedicated thread in the appropriate section of the forum in a short period of time explaining everything in details.

Well in order to summarize everything, we are working on the marketing side of the project BitShares.

Personal is too weak
We need to think business plan, integrate resources, create start-up companies,  attract venture capital.

We are planning on creating  high frequency trading bots and platform to trade BTS and bitassets with all the bts exchanges and bts wallet. Also creating a safe place / company for people who want to have bitassets and stable crypto cryptocurrencies instead of hiding their fiat money under their mattresses, or invest in more risky crypto coins but don't know or don't want to know how to do this, they can do so though our future company. The concept is to bring more liquidity to BTS and bitassets since in my view this is the future.

Everything is at very early stages yet and I am trying to wrap my head with the BTS changes. Our day jobs unfortunately do not leave us much free time to progress fast but hopefully once everything we plan is ready we won't need anymore any other day job and we will be able to work on something we actually do like.. Anything we plan to do will be BTS and bitassets related 90%. At this very early point we are gathering and combining forces, brainstorming with others and hope to be ready when the time comes..

Anything you think might help us achieve our goal, reading materials, ideas, partnerships etc please pm me..For example links that the IT guys of my team should read in order to help them build and understand the code etc will be helpful as this is not my area of expertise at all and I don't want them to be left behind..

Researching a remittance business using bitUSD/bitWhatever. [Destination is a relatively small country compared to Argentina/The Philippines]
That is thought as a step one.

On step 2 the shop will hopefully offer saving and/or investing using Bitshares in the destination country - bonds, UIA with underlying investment products (indexes, stocks etc), bitAssets, SmartOptions :) [I said it first - the options that  BTS will one day support will be called SmartOptions ],private bitAssets.

On step 3 expanding the receiving country business to country with similar regulations...

Competitive advantages - other than the one you might have observed [i.e. very good grasp of the BTS system, some financial knowledge :)] and most importantly I think I can save up to 75% of my attorneys fee by doing most of the legal myself in the destination country... :)

PS
I other words waiting for 2 things - stable working BTS client + legal, easy way to buy bitUSD in USA...

Funny.. I am talking to someone about the same thing. Canada has a massive foreign worker force from the Philippines and the like.

Convincing friends one at a time to hop on the Bitshares wagon. With the stream of good news that has and will be coming out it's much easier.

It's not much, up to now only one friend downloaded the client and started trading, but if each and every user convince only one person to download the client, buy some Bitshares or some bitUSD, we will quickly double up our user base.
