Hey man, welcome to Vegas :). I just got back from the crew doing a bar crawl.  They were still at it when I left them about 30 minutes ago at Coyote Ugly's.
Thanks I'll check it out!

0% pay robrigo-delegate standing by and eager to produce blocks!

@ Fuzz: I will try my best to keep this page up to date with the latest versions of each DAC client: http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/BitShares_DACs

Not the same as a stickied thread but it's something.  ;)

General Discussion / Re: Why wont the software fininsh sync
« on: October 04, 2014, 09:22:27 pm »
It still won't show a balance when attempting to trade/buy/do anything.  Then crashes.  It's time to call a spade a spade and accept this software can't do what it's supposed to.  If anyone can provide any guidance as to how I can get this BTSX out of my account and back into Bittrex with malfunctioning software, I would greatly appreciate it.  Now on to my double captcha...yaaay.

Do you have multiple accounts in your wallet? You can select an account to "view the market with" in the top right when you access a trading pair.

Also, you should remember this software is still in an alpha phase, and has been vastly improving week by week. Cut the devs some slack and exercise some patience; they have been working hard!

Greetings fellow BitShares enthusiasts!

My name is Rob Konsdorf and I hail from the great state of Michigan. I am a web developer / software engineer (software gardener?) by trade, currently working in a startup that creates software to help diabetics manage their diabetes. Learning about and researching cutting edge technology is one of my passions. I have been actively learning about BitShares for a couple months now, and I am convinced that this technology can and will change the world for the better. I am very excited to see what new DACs are possible, especially the challenges of crossing over into the physical realm (I have been brainstorming with Gingerbreadman about his Future Tech Farm DAC).

I would like to give back to the community and promote adoption by creating a web platform to teach others about the BitShares ecosystem, including the DAC metaphor and the technology behind the BitShares toolkit. My goal is to utilize this learning experience as a faucet of sorts, funded from the pay of this delegate. If this isn't feasible I will still create a website that people can go to learn about the concepts without incentives. This is currently vaporware but I fully intend to get something out in front of the eyes of the community as soon as I have some time to work on it! I should have bandwidth in a couple weeks to really hit the ground running on this project.

I have also discussed organizing some meet ups in Michigan with DACSunlimited and Gingerbreadman. I think we could find people that are interested in Ann Arbor, Detroit, and Grand Rapids by going out to some existing Bitcoin meetups and speaking with members.

My delegate pay is currently 80%, and I have pledged to give 5% to Beyond Bitcoin X as well as 5% to Bitsapphire to support their efforts. The other 70% would pay for the Digital Ocean VPS I am initially running this delegate from, and to fund the "knowledge faucet", and my time. If the knowledge faucet is not feasible (security concerns) my pay rate will likely drop to 30%.

The long term solution for hosting would be to have my own physical server that the delegate utilizes. Because of my current living situation, a VPS is the simplest solution to provide reliability to the network (my home internet is 4G based).

The VPS specs are:

RAM: 2 GB RAM
Storage: 40 GB
OS: Ubuntu 14.04 x32

The VPS is fully configured and price feeds are being produced for BitAssets. As soon as I can access my DNS stake from BTER, I intend to set up a 0% delegate for the KeyID / DNS blockchain.

You can listen to my chat with Fuzz about this delegate position here: https://soundcloud.com/beyond-bitcoin-hangouts/robrigodelegatehangout?utm_source=soundcloud&utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=twitter

Lastly, I will be attending the Inside Bitcoins conference Oct. 6-7 in Las Vegas if anyone is interested in chatting in person about my campaign or anything else over a tankard of ale!  ;)

Thank you for your support,

Rob

KeyID / Re: Trade KeyID (DNS) at BTER.com
« on: October 04, 2014, 01:39:03 pm »
Thanks freeworm. I tried to withdraw some DNS to an unregistered public key but the transaction was cancelled. Next to the account field on the form it says:

"Must be registered account on the blockchain or unregistered account KEY."

Can you ask the bter team to check it out and allow transfers based on key? Thanks again!

General Discussion / Re: How to protect my BTSX investment?
« on: October 04, 2014, 12:44:04 pm »
The best way to protect your investment in BTSX, in my opinion is to HODL!

Also, MeTHoDx started a subreddit for the purpose of what you're describing here: http://www.reddit.com/r/bitsharesmarkets/

Still has a low user base but it is a relatively new and niche sub so hopefully it picks up.

@toast

I have setup the site http://bit.cubeconnex.com:5555 for Get Free KeyID.  Could you please check if it is working as you have intended?  Thanks in advance!

Worked for me to register my KeyID.

Edit: I got a response from the service saying it worked ("Done! Your KeyID account is now registered."), but my registration didn't stick on the blockchain. So I redact my previous statement. Thanks for running the faucet anyways.  ;)

General Discussion / Re: Why wont the software fininsh sync
« on: October 02, 2014, 03:13:33 pm »
I've been watching this happen for several days now.  The wallet wont finish sync.  Gets about 2 days out and crashes.  Then I have start right back at the beginning.  I was wanting to buy some BitUSD with the BTSX I put in there, but at this point I would settle for the thing getting in sync so I can pull it out, and sell it.

If you aren't on a newer version, a mandatory upgrade will halt syncing at a specific block number. Download the latest version and try: https://github.com/dacsunlimited/bitsharesx/releases/tag/v0.4.19.

Muse/SoundDAC / Re: Best MUSIC DAC launch model for 2014?
« on: October 02, 2014, 12:42:35 pm »
Well first of, cancel the 10 October snapshot. 8 days is no longer enough time to react, without having made clear how this thing will work and what people are buying into, this is BS and a very bad start.

First work out your plan and funding model, make those plans very clear to everyone, so there is no doubt what people will be buying, and make sure you advertize everywhere so everyone can get in on it and only then start the snapshot countdown. Only then can people take their position in this. Seriously cancel the snapshot date and do a better announcement on more channels than just this obscure forum post.

+5% +5% This seems reasonable to me in order to not get hate for not making it public and just distributing it "among existing PTS/AGS holders". PTS holders would not even be at a disadvantage, they dont have to sell their PTS. Advertising before the Snapshot would also bring more supporters in.
Any legal issues with this? I think not...

I tend to agree with this. Provide more information, hype the Music DAC more, and launch a BitShares Music Foundation website with the snapshot countdown on it. This will give more opportunity to garner initial support from investors and should stymy any perceived unfairness due to lack of publicity / rapid snapshot.
