Title: Target Designation Team at the Dublin Web Summit.
Post by: Stan on October 09, 2015, 06:40:42 pm
Hey everybody, the BitShares/Cryptonomex team will be in Dublin with Xeroc, Max, Murderistic, and Me looking at a "target rich environment."   If we just wander around a venue filled with thousands of fintech companies the chances of stumbling onto everybody we should have met are pretty small.

But we don't have enough time to pre-vet the list of attendees shown below.  Would some of you help out by looking through these lists and recommending people we should contact in advance to schedule a meetup?

They can be people who need our products and skills
or people whose services and skills we need
Or potential partners and investors.

Let us know who is a must-meet, their contact info, and why they should be among the dozen or two we should try hard to meet.

And please don't everybody tell me it's Blythe Masters.

Thanks
Stan

Soo many to choose from Stan. For starters, stay away from Kevin O'Malley (US Embassy) and Deutsche Bank are insolvent anyway. I would like to see the look on Visas face when you mention tps.

Pelion Venture Partners
Partech Ventures
Tesco Bank- they are a huge supermarket in the UK who are in to everything.
Currency Cloud
XING AG
Milipay
mBank
RockIT
Riot Games

and give coindesk some love along with Russia Today :)

I'm sure you often do this anyway, but the only advice as I could give is that when you meet with someone new, don't tell them about BitShares, ask them about their business first.

Once you know a little about their business and their needs then you can hone in on the BTS feature/s that will be the most valuable and relatable/interesting to them rather than them being overwhelmed trying to understand or be pitched BitShares as a whole in a few minutes.

Good point.

Last chance to help us out.

We go into battle next week in Dublin
and still need to pre-arrange meetings
with every recommended must-see contact.

 Any more suggestions?

I would suggest RIot Games. They are the makers of League of Legends and which is the biggest e-ports game. It would worth trying to get bitshares integrated with them some how.

I checked this page and saw the ones which could use BitShares in some way http://blog.websummit.net/fintech-startups-joining-alpha/

http://www.poprecarga.com.br/
Allows for the unbanked to shop online however they must go to some place providing this service to recharge their phone. Basically they get money on your phone. But this seems to a be a Brazil only thing. This looks similar to Abra. Relates to BitShares because of our assets.

https://www.mesfix.com/index.php
Basically here, assume Alice wants to buy Bob some stuff for her restaurant but only pays after 60 days (this is the example they give). Bob, during those 60 days still has other bills to pay. This allow for other Bob to "sell" his bills to other people who would buy tiny parts of it, helping him pay them. Then once Alice pays after the 60 days, the money would be to the people who helped Bob pay this bills. I would say this is some kind of micro-loaning business? I would also assume according to the time of the loan and size of the bills, loaners would receive some kind of interest. I relate this to BItShares because of the scheduled payments but that's something we don't have atm I believe.

https://finstack.io/en
Allows you to accept direct debits without the need to contact with a bank? Request payments along with mandate signature with one form. Track your payments' execution, generate reports and be notified in realtime. No need to contact any of our representatives or your bank. Simply create an account then upload required proofs to access all our services. No credit card required. No SEPA creditor identifier (CI) required.

http://www.scaledrisk.com/features/
they seem to provide new and/or improved tools for financial institutions. however they mention data a lot and bitshares isnt about data but everything  transaction related could be done on bitshares. they also seem to promote open source stuff and transparency.

http://www.allpago.com/
accept payments in latin america.. However macfee and other large companies are their clients. I tend to think that companies that are too big have their head too much up into their ass to ever consider solutions like bitshares atm.

http://particulate.me/en/fundraising-en/
crowdfunding through UIA

http://www.shinrai.co/
they help services incorporate bitcoin as a payment system. since they're new they could also do the same for BitShares

http://buzzfactr.co/
A secure and easy to use mobile wallet for college students. Plento solves problems For Customers. Unavailability of card payment facilities, long queues at ATM machines and banks and requirement of a computer at hand to use online banking facilities. Convenience of cash is negated by safety issues and the omnipresent problem of tendering exact change. Plento addresses all these issues. BitShares complements their services.

https://skiomusic.com/ they complement MUSE.
https://mixtube.co/ Share the playlist with your friends and let everyone decide! Same as the above.
Muse has everything to create a future social network. One that actually has the chance of being used.

http://rektinvest.com/ Get rewarded by your own performance and compete against other players to win real money in your favourite multiplayer games. Love this idea and would probably be one of the best ways to get liquidity going. Gamers should be one of our targets and they show interest for new stuff. This is the one I liked the most so far.  :)

From the ones I saw rektinvest is the one i found more interesting and the ones you should go after. The concept is awesome and getting them with BitShares makes sense, don't forget we have Freebieservers who seem to understand that market if I'm not mistaken, so that's a plus on our side  8)

poprecarga, mesfix, allpago and buzzfactr seems good if you want to go after the unbanked however I believe it's still too early for that and a lack of infraestructure to achieve anything relevant. It's something it would take many years imo. If you mix those up with nanocard and or mobile wallets you have a winner, but that's something it will take years to happen and should not be our priority atm. The benefits don't compensate for the time it would take. However if we grow into something big those kind of businesses are definitely something to go after.

In short: rektinvest. every game uses tokens. why not have tokens with monetary value? it's a bigger incentive for players! plus they're already open to new technologies!

Very helpful!  Thanks guys!

I'll pass these along to Bitmarket, Murderistic, and Xeroc who will be in Dublin with me and Delulo, Carpet Ride, and Cass who never let a little thing like not physically being there stop them!

Keep it up, if anyone knows of more leads!

Actually Riot Games office is not too far from me. It's in Santa Monica, CA. A co-worker of mine went to work there a few years ago, not sure if he is still there.

Stan - Max Keiser is going to be there. See if you can get 30 minutes with him to explain graphene.
Worth a try.
