November 20th Hangout Transcript SummaryBitShares 2.0 Licensingbytemaster: It’s been another exciting week in the realm of BitShares. We’ve had several first events this week.
The Committee members acted without my involvement and made a decision and got a change to the fees pushed through to the blockchain. I was very happy to see the Community self-organize to review those decisions and publish. It caused it to take effect all without my influence.
That’s good for BitShares, that’s good for me and overall I was very pleased with that. There were many lessons learned from the process. For one the Committee members need to be a little more transparent, offer a little more time for discussion between making their decision and having it apply. It should probably seek feedback in the form of a proposal prior to actually saying that’s what’s actually going to happen.
But everyone’s got to learn, we’ve got to start somewhere. We will refine this process, refine the layers of communication. From my perspective I’m just happy that more people experience what it’s like to be in my shoes of trying to make decisions quickly, having someone hate you regardless of what you decide. It’s nice to spread that around a little bit, it’s quite the burden.
But overall I think it’s a step in the right direction, it’s proving things are decentralized. I don’t have the stake necessary, either directly or indirectly to unilaterally push anything through any more. Voting for both Witnesses and Committee members has aggregated to totals of several hundred million BitShares, which is beyond what I have direct influence over. So I no longer have 51%, so from here on out it is going to require community consensus gathering and effort from people like the proxy voters.
