Hi there

Sorry about the "doubled" transactions, there is a bug in the database I use (if interrested, look at https://jira.mongodb.org/browse/SERVER-5931); I made a fix for this.

HI just checked my angelshare donation https://coinplorer.com/PTS/Addresses/Pmo1PVn3iqHBKP8bdJR9kAdsdrRkWBEsW7 this seems wrong I donated 50 not 79.45?
Coinplorer is correct here, just have a look to the transaction ("see trx" link): https://coinplorer.com/PTS/Transactions/efae002a09aeac6883f3ff516e5af2f528b4a2b37333774102b52bbc8e7ea66e
Your wallet created a new address for the change, to 79.45 effectively went out of your address Pmo1PVn3iqHBKP8bdJR9kAdsdrRkWBEsW7, but you got 29.45 PTS back to another address (possibly hidden by your wallet). I hate those hidden things too...

Best wishes for 2014.

I have the same thing happen to me.  I send using a certain wallet, and now I find it was using a public address I have no idea I have.  I can't associate that address with my wallet.  Do you think I would still get my ags?

Since bytemaster changed the thread topic to "First 32 BitAssets?" does that mean 32 is fine or is this number up to discussion as well?

My choice of stock indices was: One global one and one for every major economy (including BRIC but without Russia).
If 16 BitAssets is the limit I would kick them altogether.

I thought of CHF but economy and population are tiny. Where did you get the #5 rank from?

SEK and HKD I would kick in favour of INR and BRL.  Greater São Paulo and Mumbai each have far more inhabitants than Sweden and Hong Kong combined :)

Futures on food is a hot topic so I thought of leaving them out for now.

I didn't change the topic, but 32 was the spec from the white paper.  Upon further review I think having fewer per chain is better.

Bytemaster, do you plan to have a Bitasset character limit?  Such as 4 character maximum after the word bit.  eg. BitUSD, BitAAPL.  I feel like limiting to 4 characters will allow for more standardization, reflecting public markets more closely.

We can see how it can get crazy with BitGoogle, BitGOOG, BitTwitter, BitTWTR, BitGold, BitGLD, BitAU (from the periodic table), BIT(insert the word gold here from other languages).  The permutations would be limitless and redundant.  .

Is there a way to tell if Protoshares bought on the exchange have already redeemed MMCs?

Okay, and let's say I donate BTC or PTS from the client on my laptop and I control the private keys: Will the angelshares be sent to the wallet that the PTS (or BTC) came from? .... Or will I need a BTS client, or sometinhg else?

You will need a BTS client and then import your private keys. Same way Memorycoin 2.0 did.

I suppose blockchain wallet is okay since we have the DAC file.

You went from owning a share of a company (DAC) which had to pay 50% of its earnings (transaction fees) to miners to burn them up while also serving to centralize control in economies of scale to owning a share of a company (DAC) which can pay you 100% of its earnings.  This alone DOUBLES the value of the new BTS vs the old BTS.   You also went from owning 55% of a company that has $500K to grow on to owning 50% of a company with several million backing it and therefore much better adoption and support.

If you ignore the stock-split effect of the original BTS dividend design, then what you have is a DAC that was charging you a 20% wealth tax to pay miners the first year and then taking 50% of the profits.   Now you get a DAC with no wealth tax paying you 100% of the profits.  The question becomes what kind of revenue will be generated from transaction fees because this will determine how long it takes before PTS holders under AGS surpass PTS holders under the original design in terms of percent ownership.   In terms of the value proposition you come out ahead in the first year based on the value being 2x the old value (when viewed as a revenue stream).

One last detail is that if PTS holders contribute just 5% of their PTS to get AGS then they will have significantly increased their cut from 50% to 75% while providing $1 million worth of PTS to fund development and promotion.   Essentially, we have given PTS holders a way to repurpose their debasement due to mining toward more productive activities that increase the value of BTS and PTS.

I hope this helps.

This is a good deal for people who just want to hold their PTS. But for people who want to invest their PTS in Angel Shares, this is an amazing deal! The ROI for Angel Shares looks pretty good right now (about 7.76 AGS per PTS), and might be better on some days than others

HOw did you calculate 7.75 AGS per PTS?

How will it be possible to obtain our DAC shares with only our PTS public key associated with how much we own?

You will simply import your PTS wallet into BitShares and other DACs and it will scan the genesis block for your balance.

How do you get this for angels shares that were obtained from bitcoins?  Will angel shares be sent to that bitcoin address?  Or do we have to import that Bitcoin wallet into Bitshares?  That sounds like its going to be a mess if we have to do that.

General Discussion / Re: Datacoin is a DAC for Cloud Storage
« on: December 23, 2013, 08:47:06 pm »
It uses a proof of stock-- instead of incentivzing for mining power, it invcentivizes for computer space provided.  At least I think this is the vision for how it will work.
My thoughts are  because this is based on storage space-- proof of stock-- this would be that datacoins value will only appreciate with the costs of storage space.  The cost for storing data in the blockchain will continue decreasing.  Meaning the cost of mining datacoins will depreciate also.  This means that datacoins won't really appreciate in value.  At least not astronomically.  The cost of datacoins is the cost of storing in the blockchain.  Since this is a Distributed Automnomous Corporation, ots essentially the cost of buying an application/ software.  This cost (storage space) should decrease over time....   What do you think?  Anything else you can add.

I'm very concerned about the realms of putting illegal material into the blockchain.  We as a cyptocurrency community should limit attention to ourselves-- especially when we want bitcoin seen favourably in the publics eye

I'm with Que on this one.  Miners efforts are wasted outside the system.  Your paying expenses to your ulility company and amazon.  If you really invested money for mining protoshares, I think that was ill-advised because there has numerous discussions here that Invictus was looking for a PoS-- which seeks to limit mining.  Mining is wasteful.  Its wasteful here.  And really would miners promote a currency?  I doubt it.  That's a myth.  Once miners get their coins, they would dump them on the market once they see a good opening.  If you really want to get involved in PTS, but with mining its thats so important, then mine another currency, exchange it and get some PTS.  Then convert those PTS to PTS 2.

General Discussion / Prediction Market - Margin call
« on: November 17, 2013, 03:15:36 am »
I understand the blockchain will ahve its own short and long and margin calls.  I also know that the market is full of different prices.  Same way mt gox, bitstamp, btce have different prices.  From what uniform price and how is it fed into the specific transaction for a margin call to be iniated.  Is there a seperate prediction market overlay that feeds into the collaterized bitshare contracts?  Hopefully you understand my fundamental question somewhere between what I am saying.
