General Discussion / Re: Basic, clear Bitshares and related coin info

Looks pretty good to me.

Gotta ask, how long did it take you to find all that?

You correct in thinking I put some time into this.  Seems odd that no one else has added info.  Are we trying to keep these systems confusing for a reason?  Thinking about thinning out my alt holdings in 2015.  Bitshares and related offerings take up a lot of time.   Proper documentation would make things much easier.

Lol it does seem that way sometimes doesn't it.

If we are going to work on a master list what should it include?

Im so bored of hearing the theory "market manipulation". The reason Bitcoin is in a bear market is that at current prices, the market cannot absorb the 3600 new coins per day, or $1080000 at $300 per coin.

The sooner the Bitcoin lemmings realise this, the sooner we can move on to crypto with proper economics.

With millions and millions of dollars invested in bitcoin and bitcoin related businesses I think it short sighted to think it will just go away.

The exodus of from bitcoin will be slow and probably have more then one of these cycles. What I am looking for is how much bitcoins market shrinks and if any of the 2.0's are able to grow during

these times. That would signal a shift.

This guy pretty much nailed it. I hope the bear market ends today  :D
Can you translate that for me?
Just load new bars on the chart, you will see that his prediction was accurate. Now the question is whether the current support will hold, and if this is the beginning of the new bull market.
does he make predictions that go beyond today?

I am not sure how long a holiday is where you are from but as the user in above of me noticed its been 11 days since a commit.

I don't see a issue with weekly update's. They take 5 mins...

General Discussion / Re: Is BitShares price diverging from BTC?
« on: January 04, 2015, 02:43:18 am »
The day isn't over yet.

I am thinking btc will be supported in the 250-275 range.

Either way I am happy my day trading of BTS netted me......More BTS and just when I was ready to give up my day trading  8)

How about a update?

Cryptsy, a little bit expensive but never had any problem with them.

Cryptsy is also a exchange that did not honor any snapshots in the past for holders. While this didn't affect me I can't support a exchange that doesn't support us.

I like bct38 myself other then their FB login.

General Discussion / Re: Default Vote for Core Devs

While I am for this in principle, a slate might be a friendly comprise.

BTS wildpig brings up a good point that if a default YES vote for devs was included in the client it might help to continue to draw parallels between this project and memory coin.

A yes/no dev vote during installation would also be a good solution.

Its transparent and offers the same support.

It should be stated though how many delegates each Dev is requesting support for

A service announcements section may be of value.

It would allow exchanges, gateway's and many others to have a their own section to showcase their service.

Such great work.

A sticky might be in order here.

Maybe I am off base but the exchange is issuing IOU's based on market pegged assets it receives.

Example

I send 100bitUSD to XYZ exchange.
XYZ Issues me XYZUSD its very own UIA.
XYZ likes to use its own UIA for the reasons stated above.
I go about trading XYZUSD on the XYZ's external exchange
The price of BTS suddenly and sharply falls
XYZ has the 100bitUSD I traded to them for their XYZUSD so that I can trade on their external exchange.

"A BitShares gateway does the exact same process, the only difference is that the database that tracks the users’ deposits to the exchange is the BitSharesBiItShares blockchain.   When a user transfers fiat dollars or bitcoin to a gateway, the gateway responds by tranIsferring an IOU asset issued by the gateway back to the user.    When the user returns the IOU to the gateway the gateway sends fiat dollars or bitcoin back to the user."

If I understand the above correctly XYZ is holding bit(fill in the blank) MPA's and issuing their UIA's. The exchange has more control because it can stop trading or choose not to honor their UIA but they are still exposed because they have the bit(fill in the blank).

So my question I guess becomes How sudden of a fall and how long of a drop?
The exchange/gateway is taking real USD (not bitUSD) and then issuing their "IOU USD" UIAs.

Sure thats easy but doesn't apply this situation.
XYZ exchange does crypto to crypto only trading and does not accept fiat.

Then they'd only be a BTC gateway. There is no point in being a gateway for bitUSD - BM's point was that the exchange can avoid bitassets altogether if they don't like the risk.

Their does seem to be a demand for MPA's as a way for crypto to crypto only exchanges workaround not being able to accept fiat https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=12815.15;topicseen

IN order to gauge risk you have to know the answer to

How far and how fast?

"The fall would have to be very sudden and long-lasting."

Interesting, thank you for the recommendation. We will look into that.

bitCNY,bitUSD actually isn't a bad idea. Allowing these to be traded against other cryptos would be unique and would give me a reason to trade their. It would also allow you to get into the fiat market in the short term.

If you are willing to do the above I think a delegate request is very reasonable.

We are already doing what you describe with NuBits and it is working very well. We are considering doing the same thing for bitCNY then expand from there.

Great news, I look forward to the pairings.

They fact that you didn't list Paycoin and provided a well thought out reason speaks volumes to the class of the team running your exchange 8)

Giving away a dollar of bitgold does not magically make the market cap of BTS increase by $3.  This isnt some perpetual motion machine.

It is if the dollar is coming from a paid delegate.

If the person who receives the giveaway holds their bitUSD then this is actually sort of true. But its no different than inflating out 50 BTS and then not spending them, which would also make the market cap increase on paper.

What we want is the price of BTS to increase, not just market cap. That only happens if the person who received the giveaway buys even more.

Yeh but let's not forget...our bitAssets are ALSO listed on Coinmarketcap, so getting a bunch of people holding bitGold, bitSilver, bitUSD...etc only increases the visibility of multiple bitAssets which is like direct advertising for the main chain and token.

To add to this....

We all know CMC is a bit gamed, NUbits volume, Paycoin market cap etc. But it can be powerful to see a coin doing huge volume or getting a nice bump.

Does anyone know if their is a site similar to CMC that may be a little more accurate?
