Technical Support / Re: Trying to import WIF from BTC->AGS crowdsale
« on: June 10, 2017, 04:56:35 pm »
I figured this out finally.  I imported both PTS that I mined and AGS crowdsale.

First I followed these steps to import the PTS wallet.dat.
https://www.reddit.com/r/BitShares/comments/3wg3no/how_can_i_convert_protoshares_pts_client_v085_to/

Then I used the Bitshares 0.9.3 GUI to import the WIF key of the BTC wallet from above that had funded the AGS crowdsale.

Then, don't use the GUI to export the wallet as json! You have to use the Bitshares 0.9.3 CLI and wallet_export_keys command.

Then open the Bitshares 2 web wallet.  Follow these instructions roughly:
http://docs.bitshares.eu/migration/howto-importing-wallet.html#web-wallet

After importing the Bitshares 0.9.3 exported json, you'll have to reload the wallet or the next steps won't work.

Once the keys are imported and browser tab reloaded, to claim balances you must select the account in the dropdown, even if there is only one account.

If you get an error when submitting the transaction claiming balances, just try it again.

Hope this helps someone.  I would add that this process is not at all intuitive and you will need a measure of patience to keep trying.  If patience is not your thing, you can pm fluxer555 who has helped many people migrate their previous funds to the Bitshares 2 wallet.

I still have an AGS wallet, is it just useless now or can it still be converted?

1LZ7qy75ywixhmqXArMKNtzZJrXzGDNNws is the wallet that I sent to the 1ANGEL address from.  I just can't figure out how to import it to claim the AGS.

Okay, I did that, but all it shows is: "No unclaimed balances found".
I must be overlooking something obvious.

I've tried the following in both Chrome and Firefox:
1. Create an account at https://bitshares.openledger.info/
2. Settings->Restore/Import->Import a private key
3. Paste WIF key from BTC wallet that was used to send to 1ANGEL address
4.  Click "Submit"
5. "Found key." appears above private key input box.
6. ... and nothing else at all happens.

I am an idiot, so how do I do this?  I was following these instructions:
http://docs.bitshares.org/bitshares/investor/claim.html

BitShares PTS / Re: [GUIDE] Mining on Amazon EC2 using Spot instances

This is the response I got from Amazon.  I haven't tried it but it seems that only certain instance types actually support AVX and the rest are falsely reporting that they do, which crashes software using the cpu flags to detect AVX.

Hi,

AVX instructions are supported only when HVM virtualization is used. There are HVM versions of the Amazon Linux AMI and Ubuntu AMI available. Unfortunately AVX cannot be used with a PV Linux AMI due to incompatibilities with some Linux kernels regarding XSAVE instructions.

A list of HVM Amazon Linux AMI IDs is available here: http://aws.amazon.com/amazon-linux-ami/

I apologize for the confusion and any inconvenience this caused.

Doh, I calculated with the A7 and A6 prices instead of the XL and L size instances that I actually set up.  Thanks.

Looks like you get .96+.24/hr=1.20/hr  $200/1.20 = ~166 hours

The free trial says $200 worth but for 29 days... is it just time limited or will they begin silently charging at some point as well?

Edit: ok used the calculator here.
http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/pricing/calculator/?scenario=virtual-machines

Looks like you get about 31 hours of 2x8 core + 4 core linux to use up the $200 credit.

Yeah, I can disable AVX.  I guess my question is more along the lines of whether anyone has gotten AVX to work on an EC2 instance.  Amazon claims it is supported but for some reason the program dies when an AVX instruction is encountered.

I'm using the ptsminer git version against beeeeer.  This same code works on non-AVX server (because it doesn't try to use AVX).

The binary jhprotominer against ypool fails due to outdated version and I can't find a newer linux version.
I got it here: http://www.theopeneffect.com/jhprotominer-yvg1900-M7c-linux64-core2.tgz

I'm getting illegal instructions because of AVX.  Is anyone able to get AVX working (on the C3 servers)?

Edit: brainfart.
