Doesn't seem like anyone is working on this for the past month.

I loved the design @cass did for them and wish we could have an open BETA soon...if it isn't dead.

Yes the bitshares community needs to stop giving people money. If you can't figure out how to get funding on your own you probably shouldn't be asking the bitshares community for its money. Limewallet at least provided a product prior to 2.0 launch. I actually really liked the wallet and would hope that they could provide one for Bitshares 2.0

I offered a number of UI suggestions and was not received very well. I assume they need to port to 2.0. Really hope they make some majot changes to the UI in general. Ultimately, I'd like to see a stripped down version of the web wallet as a web app. Then we wouldn't have to go through the app store. Web apps are basically browser wrapped apps that can live on the user's phone desktop. They are great hybrid solutions.

ElMato seems like a genuine guy and his product seems good. I imagine it's a case of porting to 2.0 and not having any major unexpected changes, maybe they just want it to be stable for a while.

Hopefully the high transaction fees haven't messed with his business model too much.

I know in Argentina as in China, costs are often hidden so they're not used to paying for transfers and $0.2 is fairly significant in those countries.

Here in Argentina:
* Free bank accounts (no CC, just saving)
* No transfer fees (below 30K ARS)
* Instant transfers

$0.2 USD transfer fees make some project unviable.

Im pushing Bitshares for a joint effort of two NGOs and the local crypto community which one the objectives is to provide entrepreneurs from marginal economies with a way to use digital cash. (Its a bigger project ex-Worldbank, ex-UN people working on it)

Basically they will be moving an IOU, but $3.2 ARS is too much for the average size of that transactions. ($30-$50)

One of the founders of http://www.rootstock.io/ is heavily involved in the project also, so that platform is on the table also even if its on alpha stage.
