Is there inflation with Bitshares 2.0 like with Ethereum? Is the total shares available now the max amount that will be created?
After reading all of this I'm 100% more confused than I was then before I asked the question. I guess I'll never will be able to understand what Share drop means but my main concern if I buy $100,000 of Bitshares now before Bitshares 2.0 comes out and there is a Sharedrop before or after 2.0 is released will Bitshares price be effective by that share drop? If so how will it effect the price?
My goal buy now, sell when 2.0 comes out if there's a spike in price after the release, good idea? bad idea?
Share drop means someone is dropping free shares onto you as if throwing money from a helicopter.
For every BitShare you own, you get some number of "newshares" for what ever coin is being given away free.
This tends to make BitShares more valuable because of that expectation.
Then after the drop, BitShares goes back to its previous price (since that special deal has ended), but now you have "newshares" in you wallet too.

I want to buy and hold a large quantity of Bitshares hoping the price takes off when 2.0 is released. But what has got me spooked peopled are talking about share dropping sounds like they are diluting the price so the value doesn't rise? What exactly is Share dropping? Can someone explain in detail?

That's OK, I know how daunting finding info here can be.
Everyone's 1.0 stake will be transferred entirely 1 to 1 into BTS 2.0. No worries at all. Buy now while the price is ultra low!
bitshares 0.9.x is currently in use. BTS 2.0 feature freeze date is in about a week and the snapshot will be taken 30 days after that and BTS 2.0 will be trading. Approximately 4 weeks until release. BTS 0.9.x will be used all the way until the snapshot, in which all your 0.9.x shares will be converted to 2.0 shares.
Of course the dates could change if a major bug is found.

1. When is Bitshares 2.0 expected or projected to be released?
2. If I own Bitshares (BTS) when Bitshares 2.0 comes out will my Bitshares I already own automatically convert to 2.0 or will the Bitshares I own be worthless? Do I need to sell my Bitshares and convert them to 2.0?

I downloaded the latest version a few days ago of the wallet from the Bitshares X web site. The wallet keeps crashing and doesn't connect to the network. Also how do I know that the Github version people post on Reddit isn't a fake riddled with viruses?
I keep getting this error message even on the newest version Error Wallet_List_Accounts

Same thing happened to me. Total supply over 2 billion, the price has been flat since launch, the Chinese over night pump the crap out of it and dump it like a sack of potatoes. I bought at the highest price too I got screwed!
Made the mistake of buying on the upswing, need to sell some off at higher price.

Bitsharesx is starting to look more like a pump and dump by someone in China. I realize Bitsharesx was not created to pump but someone seems to be taking advantage of BTSX as a pump opportunity. Will Bitsharesx drop down into nothingness like how it's been for months since the launch?
