Title: Bitcoin vs BitShares code reuse?

Is there any code overlap or reuse between Bitcoin and Bitshares? In other words did BitShares start from zero?

Almost from zero afaik

the only bitcoin code I found sofar was the base56 encoding scheme and the wallet import stuff
