You need to take down the ads. Ads are good for monetizing when no other monetization method is more effective. Right now we have a few clear, valuable call-to-actions: get a bitshares account, buy bitshares, buy bitUSD, and sign up for the mailing list.
Anything else just distracts users away from these important goals, all while damaging the perceived value and credibility of you and bitshares on the whole.

I agree it makes the blog look unprofessional . There is not much traffic yet anyway, so no much money to be made.

Yeah I am not a fan of the ads. Makes the blog look spammy.
I went to one if the blog posts and it has an adsense ad for pizza. I agree that we should be monitzing our efforts for more funding but ads just make us look bad... Not even worth the income for the potential loss of new users.

Google ads are customized to your personal interests, so what you see usually says more about what sites you yourself frequent.
-
I removed the side bar ad.
-
Why keep any? I'm genuinely curious as to what your thought process is or what motivates you to persist with ads on your blog.

That's funny. When I read it, there was an ad for speed trading.
-
Mine said "Don't buy bitcoin! Learn about this new thing instead"
-
Mine said "Buy Bitcoin WESTERN UNION" ;)
-
I don*t mind the ads. mine first said to buy music instruments and then to buy bitcoins
-
I decided to remove them for now. I got enough sample data to estimate my opportunity cost for a given amount of traffic.

Removed from http://bytemaster.bitshares.org but still exists inside posts like http://bytemaster.bitshares.org/article/2015/01/11/Introducing-SafeBot
Introducing-SafeBot from Jan 11 :)

I hope you were measuring your organic traffic only, since the only way to maintain reddit traffic is to keep posting great material at a constant rate - as soon as you stop, traffic will revert back to solely organic.

Everything is getting better on the blog. Just got to repair those social media sharing buttons...they don't include a message and link when I want to share to twitter. (which kind of defeat the purpose)
Haven't tested the other social media buttons.
Also, bytemaster, look at a prototype I created as a bottom of the page Call to Action (click on it and give it a test drive)
http://rgcrypto.wordpress.com
I gave the code to Akernest if you want to include it on your blog.

I find "buy BitShares" to be a very unclear call to action. The clear call to actions are buy bitusd, use the decentralized exchange, and get hired by blockchain. All lead to Download the client because you get the benefits of X. The reason these are clear is that they can be explained by one "why". Buy BitShares is a much more complicated explanation and is like "buy Bitcoin," which you most likely wouldn't recommend that anyone do...

What does everyone think about monetizing wallets via ads? Is that unprofessional as well?

Desktop wallets, definitely. Mobile wallets up to the creator.

So wait I can learn the advantages of a decentralized exchange, that only creates assets when proper collateral is provided AND find Asian love?
OMG I have to tell my wife about this.
seriously though I was wondering what everyone was talking about because I have never seen the ad's because I run https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adblock/gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom?hl=en (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adblock/gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom?hl=en)
